mayle_2 Day #14 Baby #1 eyes are open ♡♡♡♡ 4d
  •   nikole182_x He's light! Looks like he could be a cinnamon or pineapple maybe :) 4d
  •   mayle_2 Aw im so excited, baby #2 is pretty close in size and baby 4, 5 & 6 are all tiny 4d
  •   kushy_n_swazi They look so cute all nakey haha 4d
  •   mayle_2 They do indeed @kushy_n_swazi :) oh i have a new question @nikole182_x how do you go about feeding the babies once you take them from the nest? I read that the crops must be empty and the first feed should just be water or mostly water? Is this what you did? 3d
  •   nikole182_x I did formula mixed with hot water every 4 hours. I would feed 6am, 10-11am, 2pm, 6-7pm and then the last feed would be 11-12am. They can go from then until 6am the next day without eating. They might chirp the first couple nights but they will get used to knowing you're not feeding them in that time frame and will soon just spell thru the night to give you a break and sleep lol! Also if yu have a heating pad to put under their box you will have them in keep that on for them to stay warm or what I used was an old fashioned hot water bottle. 3d
  •   nikole182_x 11pm-12am I meant to say at the end 3d

mayle_2 The eldest is 1 week old today!! 1w
  •   nikole182_x I think that should be fine wrapped in paper towels or regular towel. I feed mine with a syringe. The spoon method is too messy. Plus like you said the syringe you can track how much they're eating. And I was thinking the same thing as you about taking some oht and leaving the others so I didn't risk that chance of her not feeding the rest or from stress possibly killing them. I would wait Til the last egg that hatches is about 2 weeks old if you are able to take them all out at that time. It's risky either way it's done. Aww I wish I bought one of mine when they were babies. I got my first cinnamon green cheek at a bird store with his description as "very nippy" so he was cheaper than the rest lol! And my second yellow sided green cheek was from a pet store that had her half off for xmas. I lucked out with them being different sexes and pairing up tho! It is and was an amazing experience taking care of the babies. I hope they lay eggs again someday! 7d
  •   mayle_2 It is so exciting and i very much appreciate your input. I had the 5th hatch today or last night.. hit crop was empty this morning and i am a little concerned about the eldest being fed and the youngest missing out. I figured i would check this afternoon if mum comes out of the nest again. It seems to not bother her if i check when she comes out. @nikole182_x 7d
  •   mayle_2 Also sorry for hammering you with questions, but its great to find someone i can ask all these questions. I have a group on facebook that i joined and they are great for advice but because there is so many members opinions vary greatly and its difficult to get a straight answer 7d
  •   nikole182_x You aren't bothering me at all!! Don't worry if you have any questions I will try my best to help you out! And that's why I took all mine out at once because the first 2 hatchlings were growing and fat but the 3 smaller ones didn't seem to be growing any and always seemed hungry. The youngest one was so small when I took him out I didn't think he was going to make it but I figured it had to be done. Didn't seem like he was any better off with his parents at that time. Now I can't even tell him apart from his one sibling! 7d
  •   mayle_2 Aw good to hear about your little one :) well it seems the biggest 2 are getting huge and the 2-3 day old is around the same size as the one that hatched last night/this morning. When the mummy comes out ill check and see if their crops are looking any fuller. I know you should go more than a max of 8 hours without feeding them so what should i do of their crops still look empty? I would hate for any not to make it. @nikole182_x 6d
  •   nikole182_x In sure that the mom will do what she's supposed to right now since they're so small constantly asking for food but just monitor them. If you constantly see the small ones with hardly any food then I would say your best bet is to take them all, even the i hatched eggs and put them in an incubator and feed yourself. Feeding straight hatchlings is very hard tho. So give the parents a chance. 6d
  •   mayle_2 Thats the plan :) thanks for that i wasnt sure if i was planning the right thing or not 6d
