matterickson23 Just picked up this little beauty of a screenprint for the paper collection -- a @jbudich collabo with @sethgreen on the Coen Brothers' classic "Raising Arizona." Can't believe that film turns 30 next year. I reckon this'll wind up framed in @kerryon312's office at the paper. 16h

matterickson23 In less than three weeks, Kerry is gonna climb 95 flights of stairs in that bad boy again! Crazy. But amazing. #HustleUpTheHancock 2d

matterickson23 This is why Pearl Jam tried to fight Ticketmaster 21 years ago. A $67.75 ticket has nearly $30 in excess charges, including $5 to mail it to me in a plain envelope. Ridiculous. What a great scam. 2d

matterickson23 Been in the big theater at the historic Music Box Theatre in Chicago, but this is my first time seeing a film in the screening room. Likely Best Foreign Film Oscar winner "Son of Saul" up next. Because nothing says raucous off day like seeing a subtitled Holocaust drama by yourself, and driving an hour to do it. 3d

matterickson23 Strangest cook I've done so far. This brisket flat was super lean. It was trimmed out to about four pounds, so it also was the smallest flat I've ever smoked. But everything else was the same as always, from prep to temp. Yet this little nuisance took more than five hours to go from 165 internal to 185, and took way longer than normal once wrapped in foil, too. Then it decided to go from 195 to 211 in about 40 minutes. It was a 12-hour cook that I honesty figured would be seven or eight. All that said, I kept it foiled, wrapped it in some towels, let it rest after work while I took a nap, and there are no complaints this morning. Should be nice for the game tonight. 5d

Here's a classic. We know the person on the right didn't come along after the #DailyDouchebag in the middle unless the person on the right is built like a yardstick. That means the person in the middle parked that way, then either didn't care or cluelessly headed into the gym. And the latter may be worse. Because if you're that clueless that you just parked all kinds of douchey, can we really trust you behind the wheel when other cars are moving all around you? #DailyParkingDouchebag

matterickson23 The sky was fun last night, so I stopped by the Planetarium on the way home to make a couple pictures of the skyline. Here is one straight out of the iPhone. #chicago #sky #skyporn #skylines #architecture 1w

matterickson23 The annual Oscar quest continues today: All five Live Action Short nominees up first. Then a break. Then the Animated Shorts. I'll tackle the Documentary Shorts next week. Obsessive disorder is a blessing and a curse. 1w

matterickson23 <rant>And as long as I'm on a roll, seriously, Strack & Van Til? "Pulled Pork" is important enough to be randomly capitalized, but "brisket" isn't? Oh, wait. It is, just not everywhere. (I'll even overlook cole slaw as one word.) I get it. Some of us are editors, but can't change a fluorescent light bulb or fix a car. Different strokes for different folks, and so on and so on. But if it's important enough to put on paper to display for your customers, it ought to be important enough to get right and have consistency and accuracy. Like it or not, some of your customers will judge you on that. If you're sloppy with a simple sign, maybe I don't want to get my prepared food from you because you might be careless there, too.</rant> 2w

matterickson23 There are many ways to spell this name. Kerry. Kari. Carrie. Cari. Even Carri, Karri, and Karrie. But the VERB? Someone actually thinks this is a way someone might spell their name. And this isn't the first time this has happened, either. So guess what, Cooper's Hawk? Strike ONE. 2w
  •   vital277 So does Cooper own the Hawk?? I mean, I'm no editor, but wouldn't that be a possessive apostrophe? Asking for a friend, lol 2w
