masterkiller tornado sirens went off unexpectedly in my hood tonight and though ive often given thought to what my optimal disaster outfit should be i was ill prepared when the bell was rung. had i been taken out tonight i would have perished in less than hard daisy booty shorts and blue denim air max 90s that most def do not match anything else im wearing. my only saving grace was the 100 demons hoodie i grabbed at the last minute. that id be proud to die in and/or battle my neighbors for survival snax in. no desit virtus / ill do better next time. 2w
  •   vkeithv Please store that eye for an eye hoodie in a safe place! Like in Indianapolis. 2w
  •   ironxcakes I will keep your hoodie safe if you happen to perish. 2w
  •   masterkiller @vkeithv oh dont you worry yourself about that...its safe in the vault. apocalypse proof. 2w
  •   masterkiller @ironxcakes youre in the will! 2w
  •   vkeithv Apocalypse proof isn't tornado proof. 2w
  •   ironxcakes Thank you. I promise to protect it. 2w

masterkiller a little of our money goes a long way to help free those enslaved unjustly. today is the last day of the fundraiser. its crazy to think that desperate people become slaves for less money than ive spent on a cool pair of shoes or a fun night out. pop on over and give a few bucks if you can. a million dollars is totally within reach and what they could do with that amount is world changing.

“My sister’s kidneys were failing. We tried to raise the money to save her. We sold our cattle. We sold our property. We sold everything we had. When we ran out of options, I took a 5,000 rupee loan from the brick kiln. I thought I could pay it back by working for 15 or 20 days. But when I thought it was time to leave, the kiln owners did the accounts. They told me: ‘You lived in our house. You ate our food. You owe 11,000 now. If you have 11,000 rupees, you can go. Otherwise get back to work.’ They worked me harder. I never saw my wages. If I wanted to stop, they beat me. A few months later, my grandfather died. I asked for a few days off to arrange his funeral. ‘You owe 30,000 rupees now,’ they told me. ‘If you have 30,000 rupees, you can leave. Otherwise get back to work.’ Now I owe 350,000 rupees. And my sister died a long time ago. There’s no way out. Soon my debt will pass on to the next generation.” *1,000 rupees = $10

(Lahore, Pakistan) --------------------------------------------------- This is the sixth post in a series on Syeda Ghulam Fatima. Known to her admirers as Pakistan’s Harriet Tubman, Fatima has worked tirelessly to eradicate bonded labor—one of the last remaining forms of modern slavery. This man is one of millions of bonded laborers in Pakistan, and one of the tens of thousands who has turned directly to Fatima to help him escape the violence and cruelty of his owners. Fatima has been electrocuted, shot, and repeatedly beaten for her activism. Despite her outsized impact, she operates on a small budget. So we are raising money to aid her in her mission

  •   matxmcqueen This fucking breaks my heart. 2w
  •   masterkiller @matxmcqueen yeah...its mind boggling. vice did a piece on the brick kiln slavery system on their show a whole back. people becoming slaves because they need less than $100. often much less. 2w
  •   matxmcqueen Makes me want to fly there directly and save them. Of course I know that's not going to happen because I have no money and a family to look after here. 2w
  •   masterkiller @matxmcqueen i feel ya. the world is madness. but the lady that all the donated funds are going to is a real deal revolutionary guardisn angel. they have millions caught in the slavery, but over a million usd was raised. that will help so many people. give a few bucks if you can...it all adds up! 2w

masterkiller about 26ish years ago i was just a wee tot suburban punk rock skate betty and i watched the another state of mind documentary and was enamored with social distortion and minor threat and the diy punk ethic. those early intros ultimately landed me in the world of hardcore for many years to follow. tonight i saw sd play again (the s/t record in its entirety) and it was way more awesome than i expected. i havent listened to them in a long time but every lyric was still stored in my head. so heres to being young and (sorta) punk as fuck. and also to being (sorta) old and just a fuck. 3w
  •   iamfinally So fucking weird. Read the thing I wrote for doublecross that he's posting tomorrow. I went and found another state of mind used on DVD on Friday to rewatch it !!!! 3w
  •   masterkiller @iamfinally ha! cant wait to read it. i want to watch asom again but only if its on vhs 3w
  •   thekitchenexperiment Also, how was DtR? 3w
  •   lifelinerecords @masterkiller I was tempted to go to this, but last time they played here they were straight up awful! Over the past 15 years I've seen 'em they've gotten worse each time. I officially gave up on their live shows. 3w
  •   masterkiller @thekitchenexperiment i was wondering if you were there. dtr was ok. not great. played a pretty short set and mostly songs off the newer record. always good to see them but you didnt miss much this time. 3w
  •   masterkiller @lifelinerecords i hadnt seen them since the early 90s...and back then of course they were amazing. they were good tonight but the sound sucked. and the crowd was mostly old lame mild white people. it was pretty weird. BUT hearing the s/t record was really cool and they played a few covers which was awesome. wild horses, folsom prison blues and rof. also played cold feelings and a couple other songs. you should go tuesday...that hasnt sold out yet so it might be a better/more comfortable show. plus theyre having a couple days to hang in chicago so theyll likely be recharged. 3w
  •   thekitchenexperiment Hmmmmm....ok I may go Tuesday then. I'm listening to Social Distortion and Drag the River nonstop all week at home. 3w
