The Door Way, Dorset, UK
=================================
Hello all. hope you’re keeping well. I’ve been away travelling with my friend Ben @bengreenphotography for a few days on a whistlestop tour of Dorset & Somerset. Had another awesome road trip - great fun all the way, very relaxed, although intense from a photography point of view - early mornings & late nights galore!! Cheers Ben, always good to see you buddy!!. On Friday evening we went to catch this - Durdle Door, and the amazing milky way in the southern sky. Feel very privileged to see this wonder of nature - It was literally visible to the naked eye. Technique here involved multiple exposures - high iso shot & short exposure for the sky to keep the stars sharp, with lower iso & longer exposure for the foreground to minimise the noise. Bit of low cloud on the horizon, but the milky way was clear enough :-)

Gattklettur Arch, Arnarstapi, Iceland
=================================

Check out: @epapadopolis
Hello all. Happy Monday. This nightscape is from my first ever sight of the Northern Lights in Iceland. The arch here in the foreground, - known as the Gattklettur Arch, has been naturally formed by sea erosion over the years, and the Aurora peeking through the cloud in the distance made a good backdrop. The foreground and the arch were lit by the super powerful torch I carry around for night photography - it’s an essential part of my kit for shooting after dark - it was literally pitch black at this location. High ISO used to capture the aurora doing it’s thing in the night sky ! :-)

Check out: @marinophotography

Hello friends. Hope you’re weekend is good. Popped out with my lad Connor last night down to Wittering in Sussex to see how the beach was, as the tide was looking favourable for water pools on the sand - great orb locations :-) - The water was quite low, but I found this little pool next to an anchor point on the beach and spun out this pair with a new spinning tool. These are created with LED lights being spun around for anyone wondering.

Morning all! Looking down the valley of Fossárdalur from above the Granni waterfall (next to Haifoss) in southern Iceland here - one of a few compositions I shot of this valley when I visited Iceland for the first time. The first light of the day can be seen hitting the top of the valley on the right hand side. The vivid colours of Iceland’s landscape always strikes me - the wide array of yellows and greens is wonderful!!. I liked the snaking Fossa river leading it's way through the shot here. Have a lovely weekend!!

Morning all, beautiful day here in England today :-) - throwback to April this year, & the #beardedtogs adventure 66 North. This is Kirkjufellfoss, a stunning pointy mountain in West Iceland - love this place!! Very moody night when we arrived here - looking at the cloud in this shot, it was obvious a blizzard was coming, as we found out later that night - it would have been calmer if we'd parked out camper on a ferry crossing the Atlantic ;-) -

Happy Sunday all, hope your weekend is good. Mono Long Exposure of a fairly well shot composition - Eiffel tower from the Trocadero in Paris - the cloud when we visited lent itself perfectly to LE, & the 14-24 super wide lens delivers a nice wide view of this scene! The Mono choice added a different slant to this particular image for me. Have a great day!!

Evening folks - hope you’re good today. Back home in Blighty now, and starting to edit my images from the lovely long weekend in Paris. This is an image i’ve wanted to capture for quite some time, since seeing a mesmerising version by @saaggo some time back. I found the location after some online hunting, and headed up there on Sunday evening. Tricky shot to get, on some wobbly steps, and to achieve the square capture, I had to shoot multiple portrait oriented shots, then blend together in Photoshop. Happy to have captured this view though, love the curvy buildings & trails!! Have a great evening

Pre-dawn image of Hvitserkur, the ‘white rock’ , off the Northern coast of Iceland. I loved the rippled sand here that the light bounces off at low tide, & we were blessed with good light on this day of the #beardedtogs adventure. There is a legend that this rock was an evil troll that forgot to retreat from the light and was turned to stone. Other people say it looks like a Rhino, or a dragon drinking from the water. Whichever you choose to believe, or see, it’s a truly fascinating spectacle of nature :-) . Multiple exposures with manual blending, and a good degree of warming to the underexposed shots to achieve this look, plus a degree of dodging / burning for highlights / shadows. Have a lovely evening !! -

Hello all, hope you’re good. First post this week from me, Enjoying a bit of time away from IG right now, although i’m shooting a bit, and working on how I process my images - I feel that’s a continual learning process that I need to work hard at. I shot the wheel for the 1st time in ages recently after a long break from any direct images of it, & this is the 1st of a 2 part mini series. 2 minute exposure with my 14-24mm lens using an ND filter as the light went down. It came out super smooth, pretty much as you see here, so was happy to post it. Have a good week! -

Hope you’ve had a good weekend! Quick overnighter to Dorset for me yesterday to shoot sunset / sunrise at a couple of locations. As it was a clear night, I stayed up & headed to Durdle Door at about 1am hoping the Milky Way might be visible. As you’ll see from this shot the moon was way too bright for that, I quite liked this anyway, some nice visible stars with wispy cloud & the glowing moon makes a good feature for me. High ISO’s on this shot as it’s pitch black here at night ( moon excepted ) & vertical panorama to capture larger part of the sky - looking forward to visiting Dorset again a few times over the summer, it’s so photogenic. Have a great evening! -

One of the most fascinating sights 66 North - the eternally changing Glacier Lagoon at Jokulsarlon. This was shot on a very misty morning in the winter, amazingly still water, with glass like reflections. This piece of ice amazed me with its colour & structure, as did those in the background. The floating piece in the foreground was around 20ft wide. Nature really is amazing :-) -

3/4 of the way up to the top of the steps beside Skogafoss, there’s a muddy walkway that leads to a lovely opening overlooking this beautiful waterfall. On our last day in Iceland, I popped up there to shoot this daytime LE. The highlights in the grass, and high contrast of the fall made it a good candidate for mono processing for me, so here it is!!. -

Happy Friday everyone - hope you have a great weekend! - I’m so glad its here after a heavy week work wise. Returning to one of my favourite locations on earth here - the black sand beach at Jokulsarlon, Iceland. The icebergs seen here break off from the glacier, into the lagoon, and float out to see where they end up on the beach. Shot during a very moody sunset on the #beardedtogs tour. The icebergs here are between 2-4 ft high! Looking forward to another adventure 66 north soon!! -

Morning all. Happy Sunday. The second part of some images that I shot of my home county in the last few months. This is #brighton pier. These old structures off the coast of the city are ingrained in the heritage & culture of the place - Brighton wouldn’t be the same without them, & I always love to shoot them during good ( & bad) conditions!! One of the things that amazes me most about Iceland is the seemingly never ending opportunities to shoot. This image was taken by the side of the main road around the island, somewhere between Jokulsarlon & Hofn. The #beardedtogs were on our way to Stokksnes and saw these views opening up before our eyes. There are water formations everywhere, so reflections like this on a fine day are not hard to come by, & the snowy mountain peaks were a spectacular sight. I think i’ll be visiting Iceland again, soon!
