Hello all. hope you’re well - Xmas is a comin’!! I’ve been planning this shot for a while now, a Fisheye lookup at the London Eye - i shot it earlier during the year, but to be really effective the surrounding trees need to have shed their leaves. I was in London shooting in Saturday and passed by, so decided to capture it. I like how it turned out. Different slant on a much photographed part of London - have a fabulous day!!

Hello all. hope you’re well - This is the Science Centre in Glasgow, a very unique shaped building ( thats very hard to shoot well for a square!!). It is a titanium crescent shaped structure, built to represent the cull of a ship. The tower to the right of shot is the tallest freely rotating tower in the world. It can be seen across the city. As with many of the Clyde based shots I got whilst in Glasgow, I was lucky enough to catch a very still river, for great reflections. -

Hello all. Happy Holidays!! I’m now finished with my work for 2014, and have been able to start to get out with my camera to shoot a few photos again after a work induced break for a few days. I went into London last night to catch the official opening of the Shard. The laser / light show at the top is quite spectacular, with the light beams shown in this image. It was low tide on the Thames last night, so I took advantage and got down on the North Bank by Millennium Bridge to shoot this. Enjoy your day!!

Happy Monday people!! How is it today? Here's another look at the awe inspiring Haifoss waterfall in Iceland. Hope you’re enjoying the weekend so far. I was going through some older images i’ve shot the other day, and came across this one of Tower Bridge that I’ve never posted. I was a spectacular sunset on this particular evening, and I fired this 3 second shot as a reference for the longer exposures Icaptured that night. After an edit, I really like this one!! Happy Friday my friends! This is the outcrop of Dyrhólaey, in Southern Iceland, formerly known as Cape Portland by English Sailors that used to visit the waters surrounding it. The view from the top of this place was incredible - shots to follow sometime :-) As we drove up to it, there was a still area of water, and I noticed this perfect reflection. Along with the drama of the fading light on a very moody day, I liked this scene. Enjoy the weekend!! -

Hello everyone - happy hump day!!. Took a trip out to West London on Sunday afternoon to shoot Hammersmith Bridge, which a friend had told me was interesting. . Beautiful old structure, and a nice clear night to shoot it... The lights on the bridge look to be the original illuminations, so they don't overpower the scene too much..like the yellow glow on the water though :-) -
The bridge is a suspension bridge opened in 1887. It's grade 2 listed nowadays, as was built designed by Joseph Bazalgette, 700ft long & 43ft wide. Roll on Friday!!

Hello everyone - hope Monday hasn’t been too painful!. Looking back through a few Glasgow shots over the weekend - here’s one I got around slack tide on the Clyde one night - The SSE Hydro Arena, being very nicely reflected in the river. The water was pretty still and yet there were all sorts of currents bubbling on the surface, which seemed to cause the unusual reflections I picked up shooting this. It was very dark, hence the purple tones. Enjoy the rest of your week!! -

Collaboration - The Bay Bridge, San Francisco, with @gettyphotography =================================
-
-
Hey all - Happy Friday. This is a collaboration with one of my absolute favourite instagrammers - Bruce Getty - @gettyphotography - I’ve long been a big admirer of Bruce’s work, the iconic shots of San Francisco, New York, as well as many others wonderful locations & subjects . Bruce is a night, and golden / blue hour hunter like me, which is why I find his work so appealing - his feed really is a work of art, and it was a privilege to get to edit a couple of his images ( another to follow soon) - So, this is a night shot of the Bay Bridge, I’ve take 3 manual exposures, blended them for optimal highlights / shadows, adjusted the colour tone, and given the image a bit of centre focus with vignetting. Minimal editing really - they were fantastic images to work with. Have a great weekend!! -

Hey all. Happy Sunday. One of the places i was most excited about visiting was the Glacier Lagoon in South Iceland. Unfortunately the weather gods didn’t shine on us that day, although the gloomy weather seemed to work well with the cool blues of the icebergs for this image. The lagoon was formed 60 years ago after the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier receded from the Atlantic Ocean. It is now 1.5km from the sea. Pieces of ice break off regularly, and wash up on the black sand beach just over the road. Even on a gloomy day, it was a place i won’t forget in a hurry. Have a good day!! -

We got to take a decent look around Reykjavik during our recent trip, and one of the most striking buildings in the city is the Harpa concert hall on the water front. Opened in 2007, costing 164 million Euros, the exterior is covered in geometric glass panels in different colours - it’s very striking. I found it quite hard to get a good square comp due to the shape of the building, although I did like this one, which shows one side of the building, with the lines of the main entrance leading the way. Enjoy your weekend !! -

I think this was the finest view I saw in Iceland this time - the majestic Haifoss waterfall. 122m high, the second highest in Iceland, the power and beauty have to been seen & heard to be believed. In the background is the Granni ( meaning neighbour ) fall. Amazingly, this place was deserted all morning when we were there - it was so serene, I could have stood there for ever!! Started looking at a longer return trip next year to capture more of this magical land. Have a good day..

Hey all. Arrived home from my trip to Iceland yesterday ( unfortunately - i’d like to stay there for a month! ). This is the Hvita ( meaning 'white river') river in South Iceland, which runs for 40km through the south of the island before dropping into a gorge at Gulfoss waterfall. It has the reputation of being the most dangerous in Iceland due to flooding. I love the colour in the banks , and the cold tone of the water. -

Happy weekend everyone. Hope yours is enjoyable. I’m here in Iceland with @bengreenphotography exploring this magical place for a few days. I’m literally blown away at times by the beauty of this country - it is jaw dropping. This image is from the top of Haifoss waterfall as the sun rose yesterday. Haifoss is 122m tall, and I shot this looking down the Pjorsa tributary, with the river Fossa snaking into the distance. - the spray from the fall can just be seen. The weather here has not been so good today, very challenging for shooting, but we had a good go, and we have a couple of days left - Glacier lagoon at Jokularson tomorrow :-). Not picking up too much wifi etc here so apologies for my lack of participation in IG right now, will be looking to catch up when home.

Morning people, Happy Friday!! I’m up early working - feeling energised for life again today after clearing away some negative stuff !! Got some exciting adventures coming up with my photography in the next couple of weeks!Westminster Bridge shot this time around - it’s been done to death, yes, although you don’t always see this type of light here, which is why I like this image. Multiple shots blended in PS, particularly for the highlights of Big Ben, and the shadows underneath the bridge, which both required very different exposures. Have a great day, and weekend!! -

Morning all - wishing you all a good day. This is the final image in my light painting mini series - I’ve tried to highlight some of the tools that are available out there for getting creative with a camera. In this image I’ve used an LED Lenser V24. These light sticks are not in production any more, although you may find the occasional one for sale on eBay, and places like that. The stick rotates through a cycle of 7 colours, and i’ve used it here to (loosely!) create a light 'apple'. Much of my inspiration for light painting comes from other artists I see, David Gilliver, Hob ( on Flickr ), as well as the Light Painting World Alliance - all worth checking out on the web if this genre interests you. Back to some more traditional posts next, enjoy in the meantime...
