•   hereintheweeds I drive past that place almost every night and it looks like a beaut from the bridge.Up close the beauty is still there it just needs love and not neglect. 2h
  •   mancunadian There looks to have been some vandalism but luckily there is a very vigilant neighbour who keeps a weather eye on the property. The City of Burlington's approach to this community is civic vandalism @hereintheweeds Let's hope they fail, and somehow this beauty survives... 2h

  •   fille_du_fleuve @hereintheweeds @mancunadian It's a municipal fad lately, in areas with higher unemployment especially, or high concentrations of low income. There's a formula that's supposed to be ideal for a municipality's credit ranking - renter:homeowner, property tax values, etc. Instead of serving the People, they serve that plat of land and its bank account - along with their own and a select type of citizen. 23h
  •   mancunadian @fille_du_fleuve that is happening in parts of Hamilton, but this bit of Burlington contains well maintained homes that the City of Burlington would like to remove to extend The Beachway Park. The beach and lake are fully accessible without removing this community. Just outright bloodymindedness on the part of the City. 20h
  •   fille_du_fleuve Hmmm I see. It needs a vocal grassroots movement then. I'd look to developers having city council on a leash, as hotels tend to follow such moves. 20h
  •   mancunadian Petitions have been signed, and deputations made to City Hall @fille_du_fleuve They are hell-bent on turning the Burlington side of the Beach Strip into parkland - all except the Waterworks, and whatever future expansions they have in mind for the Joe Brant cluster. 2h
