mamawatters spending the day nursing this sleepy one, trying little knits on him i had stored away for autumn, keeping theodore out of our suitcases (no such luck thus far, the little turkey), and packing like a madwoman for our first adventure as a fam of five to the PNW! any good recommendations for cannon beach, eugene, or portland, let me know! 2d

Be sure to go to manzanita- a little town not far from cannon beach-it has an amazing beach and a little place called bread and ocean- so yummy. mamawatters "pare down to the essence, but don't remove the poetry" - leonard koren • a favorite quote around here to inspire simple living, even with (perhaps especially with) little ones • and thank you for the sunny blooms @blackbiirdfly we love ya! 5d
  •   belindagraham Great quote! I've found the more children I have and the crazier that life is, the more I need a calm, clean, simple space to live in - more need for less!!! It also means the personality and special things of those who live there shine through rather than compete with the clutter ... X 4d
  •   wendygh I love the Biergarten sign!! @mamawatters where did you find it? 3d
  •   mamawatters @wendygh it was a gift from family that traveled to Germany :) 3d

mamawatters morning walks and chats with these bubs and their sweet mama before the muggy summer air settles in! surrounding myself with positive, joyful people has got to be the best way to recharge my battery as a stay at home mama! well, that and naps. but let's be real, that ain't happening. it's sure a good day to have a good day 6d

mamawatters peaceful, sleepy, loud little alfie • we call him "grunty" because after he eats and basically all throughout the night he hums and makes noises like the motor of a small tractor • we also may have tried sneaking him into a movie on a recent date night AND FAILED because of said grunts • loud they may be, but i find them irresistibly sweet, my tiny music maker! 7d

mamawatters last night while his brother and sister napped into the early evening, i gave him a warm bubble bath and we sang songs about dump trucks and airplanes • afterward, i clipped his little nails and together we watched out the window, waiting for daddy to get home • spending one on one with theo, and i'll be honest, it doesn't happen as often as i'd like, has got to be the most heartwarming for me, as he is still my little baby too • to the mamas...any good ideas on how to get good one on one time with your older babes? throw your tips my way. i'd really love to hear as it's something i want to work on! 1w
  •   tessahop So sweet. ♡ (and sometimes it is hard to get them all enough one by one attetion. Same for me. But I'll thry to give them all three some special time.) x 1w
  •   tentoesbyange Sometimes I bath with my daughter and, mostly, just chat about everything and nothing. She's 5. 7d
  •   kiley.louis Oh my gosh.. I ADORE him! His face on IG always brightens my day 7d
  •   cair_paravel I struggle with this all the time. And Jonah is at an age where he's a stinker even when we are one on one so its harder. We totally need more of this tho. I am of no help. 6d
  •   violetrobison I like music and giving them their own special songs that hold meaning or are just for them. 6d
  •   tyshadenae I had 4 in 6 years...it gets tricky! Yet it's SO vital to fill up their special little tanks (and yours, too!) with some 1:1. I try to catch magic opportunities as they arise throughout the day - asking one to be a special helper for things like baking, watering plants or flowers - honestly, just slowing down, taking note, and making an ordinary moment something special is quite wonderful. As ours are now 6, 5, 3, and 9 months, my husband and I take turns each month doing a formal date with the older kids -like to a movie or to get frozen yogurt, etc. I am the eldest of 8, and have very fond memories of my parents taking me on dates. My Dad even took me on a date last time I went home for a visit (and now I'm 38 and he's 61, so sometimes people think he just robbed the cradle ). Anyway - my kiddos even think it's a great treat to run errands with me as a date - groceries and a cookie!?? Sweet! So...seize the small opportunities at home (even if it means leaving the dishes for later ) and plan something you can mark on a calendar (last summer my oldest wanted to do Ride the Ducks, the touristy thing - we did it! The anticipation once we reserved our tickets was half the fun! Knowing you're taking the time just for them and when you get home, everyone is excited to hear all about it!) Okay...you've got this! 🏼 Have fun! 6d
  •   houseinhabit This is a Favorite. Love this so much! 5d
  •   purlbird I only have one... so, not as many ideas. But I give mine a massage either before nap time, or after a bath. Might be a good way for nurturing one on one. Play music as well, or better sing a song. 5d

mamawatters chalk it up to the postpartum emotional ride i'm on, but watching them playing together on sister's new big girl bed tonight i can tell you i've never felt more vulnerable in my life. i've never loved more intensely than i am right now, in this season as a mother of three. nor did i know my heart was capable of such a love. when i look at them, i see and feel my heart beating outside my chest and it scares the hell out of me! but deep down, beyond that parental fear, lies my true hopes for them as their mama: that they'll know and feel with every fiber of their beautiful beings that they are worthy of love and belonging. that although they are not perfect (and that none of us are) and that they'll mess up (a lot), that's what makes them so very special. that they'll always be able to call this place in the midwest home, no matter where their life takes them. that although they'll get older and find husbands and wives and have babies that i'll always be their mama, cheering them on and loving them fiercely. 1w
