maddedradaa I can not think of a better way to describe 2014 other than blessed. Blessed with amazing friends, family & health. As I reflect back on it I am so proud of myself. I pushed myself way out of my comfort zone & was so open to trying new things & it all payed off. The most important lesson I took from 2013 & then applied in 2014 was to respect/love myself. Respect myself enough to take care of my body. Through exercising, eating healthy, and having positive relationships. No lie, Crossfit/ exercising changed my life. I truly believe that exercising is one of the best anti-depressants. When you start treating yourself like you have worth, you attract the right people. The ones who will lift you up and challenge you to be better. So thank you a million times to all of my close friends & especially those who always had positive words of encouragement to me along this journey. Every kind word was appreciated & is stored in my heart for days when I need to remind myself hehe. I guess what I wanted to say is that everyday is a blessing & everyday is a chance to better yourself. I never used to believe in goals or the whole corny "being the best version of you" bull shit. Haha but now I totally am one of those people. If I could give any piece of advice it would be to find something active or healthy you LOVE to do, something that sets your heart on fire & gives you a little feeling of purpose. Whether it's walking your dog, or climbing a mountain, it doesn't matter. Just find it & do it. Health isn't a one size fits all thing, so find what works with your body & make your health a priority.
So up top are two very different pictures. The first one was a girl scared to go to the gym & sweat/ workout in front of people (I remember sending a friend a text saying "I don't waanaaaa there's guys here" hahah) also I was very depressed, with not a lot of sense of purpose or drive. The girl on the right is me now, I'm still a little nervous to sweat in front of people (mostly because I sweat like a beast) haha, but I am a lot more confident & most importantly I have a better feeling of purpose, and the depression has lessened immensely. I also invested in cuter workout attire

Thank you for articulating what many of us cannot about our own journeys through fitness and health. Depression is a hard topic to broach and yes, I've been there. Goals for 2015: soar more than I want to wallow. And it looks like I'm already a few days ahead of the game. #WorkHard & #NeverGiveUp whether it's anything in life, don't let one bad day ruin your whole week or one bad choice ruin your goals. maddedradaa Today was leg day. Loved the plyos that @ashlyn_merriman cooked up for me to fit my crossfit itch. Just take note of my face during these.. And after when I throw the ball on the ground. maddedradaa Cos #FlexFriday but mostly cos I have a confession:

The past week I have been feeling "if-ish" about the amount of muscle I have put on.. or "bulky-ness" as some would say. Just wasn't feeling sure if this is how I want to look. Today I even went on Google and searched "do guys like girls with muscles" because I was feeling THAT paranoid that a freakin guy wouldn't be into me because I was a little bulkier than most girls (real talk). I had to take a HUGE step back and give myself a kick in the ass (I actually just went and killed arm day instead.. paaaiiinnfullll. Side note: thanks ashlyn @ashlyn_merriman for killin me 6 days a week )but seriously. I was basing my body based on what a guy would want, instead of what I want. I love crossfit, and I love independence, and most of all I love my health and those are a few very BIG reasons I'm doing what I'm doing. It's time to stop worrying about what other people want & worry about what I want. Which is to get competitive in crossfit & to be healthy. So here are my flex Friday pictures. Big arms, a soft tummy, a strong back, & a big smile. No more basing my happiness around whether guys or anybody at that thinks my body is acceptable or not. #perfectfit4u #perfectfit4me #crossfit oh & that totally is sweat in the top right picture, this is how real this post is getting
