  •   m_wonderful @wildwildforest Sure is! It's really taking off. The book was published in 1975, written by John Whitman (Walt Whitman's great nephew). 2h
  •   m_wonderful @wildwildforest K, I made up that last part. 2h
  •   m_wonderful @seinemutti Ha! I'm the world's slowest horticulturist, but my plants look great! (I would mail this to you if it wasn't a federal offence to export plants without a permit.) :) 2h
  •   wildwildforest Man that book is older than me. Walt Whitman's great nephew! You had me fooled! My interest is still peaked though. Are you gonna write a review? 1h
  •   m_wonderful @wildwildforest It's my age! Yeah, maybe. Just read the first page. :) 1h
  •   wildwildforest The tree looks great! 1h
  •   wildwildforest Ancient! Haha. (Two whole years ahead of my time) Hope you post the review if you do. :) 1h
  •   seinemutti Haha! Great indeed. And thank you, it's a kind thought that counts! ( I do wish it wasn't illegal though! Lol) 21min

  •   m_wonderful The tree on the left is over a hundred years old, the one on the right over five hundred. These enormous trees can reach almost a hundred metres (315') with five metre (15') trunks. What look like saplings surrounding these two are actually the tops of other large trees. 4d

  •   m_wonderful Can't wait to get my hands on that plum tree. 6d
  •   m_wonderful For the plant nerds: Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra'. 6d
  •   seinemutti What do you do, may I ask? 6d
  •   m_wonderful @seinemutti I'm a horticulturist working in the field doing practical horticulture (pruning, etc.), garden design, soil analysis, and IPM (integrated pest management). Today I cut back poppies (and saved like a million seeds), pruned two plum trees and a lilac. Tomorrow I'll be pruning rhododendrons at an estate. :) 6d
  •   m_wonderful @seinemutti Unless it's really raining...in that case I'll head out to sea and pull my prawn and crab traps, jig for a fish or two, then come home and split firewood. Glamorous! 6d
  •   seinemutti Sounds wonderful! ️ Oh boy, did you get to keep the seeds? So very glamorous! And goes right alone with that fairy tale I imagine you live in haha! 6d
  •   m_wonderful @seinemutti Yes! I'm going to sow them all here in my yard. They're yellow California poppies (Eschscholzia californica), my favourite! :) 5d
  •   seinemutti That will be just WONDERFUL to see!! ️ as if you needed to make your home any more darling. 5d
