lightseekingsoul "I sure am glad I got these dreadlocks just so I can offend someone of a specific race/culture" said no one ever.
Hair is hair. Clothes are clothes. Who the hell cares if someone wants to have their head done in dreadlocks or wants to wear a scarf around their damn head That is not real #culturalappropriation
Worry about something more important. Here's a few suggestions:
β€’ Racial oppression due to unfair treatment in the justice system β€’ Unequal job opportunities
β€’ Sexism towards both men and women
β€’ Racial slurs
β€’ Racial profiling
Don't sit there acting petty over something as simple as someone's hair. OH, and by the way, to all the people who say dreadlocks originated in Africa it's actually said that it was a style originated in India by Hindu yogis and was then adopted by Rastafarians and spread like wild from there.
It seems like most people just want something to try and sound self righteous about but you're all focusing on stuff that shouldn't even be an issue when there are HUNDREDS of other bigger problems.
PS: I chose a picture of a cat for this rant because cats make everything more chill and I don't want any people arguing here. Read the rant, look at the cat, be chill.

  •   fingerblastfromthepast Black people can't even wear their hair in dreads without being labeled as a thug or told that they need to cut it or wear it "natural". And this happens anywhere from work to school. So a white person parading around in dreads, ignoring the shit black people go through for wearing their natural hair, is horrible. That's a real problem. Because no white person with dreads has fought for black people to wear their hair natural, they only care for defending why they're allowed to wear dreads which is pretty fuckin racist. You also don't get to decide what people of color find racist btw because you're not a person of color! Just friendly PSA. 24min
  •   official_pixie_dust @fingerblastfromthepast just a thought- I think that people's reactions to POC's natural hair may be a regional thing or depend strongly on where you're living. In my hometown most of the POC students I went to had natural hairstyles and the vast majority of those were dreads. They never heard anything negative about their hairstyles and received a lot of compliments on it daily. They didn't face workplace discrimination in my town either. Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I really do think it all (or at least a lot of it) depends on where you're living. 17min
  •   saraiuhh lol 9min
  •   fingerblastfromthepast @official_pixie_dust sure it does, some places are much worse about it than others. But that doesn't make any better because it's still happening and you still can't deny it. 5min

lightseekingsoul So I walked out on my job today.
I had enough of the favoritism, immaturity, and negativity at that place. I had heard enough comments from the owner saying things like, "Your hair looks like shit today." or "What the fuck are you wearing?" I don't deserve to be insulted nearly every day at work And I don't deserve to be treated like I'm useless when I KNOW I'm good at my job.
I'll be really tight on money for awhile but I'll figure it out
1mon
  •   spirit_quartz @lightseekingsoul same thing happened to me but i got fired before i walked away! Youll make it through <3 new opportunities are coming your way and i know you will make the best of them! 1mon
  •   qslice7 Good lord. Where did you work? If you don't mind me asking. And, good for you. No one deserves that treatment. Especially someone as kind as you are. 1mon
  •   dave2evad A better opportunity awaits. 1mon
  •   lunevivant I did the same and three days later, I got an offer to be a TA and yard duty at a local elementary school. Better things are out there babe! 1mon
  •   rain2482 Good for you. I hope you find a better place soon 1mon

lightseekingsoul Life is full of risks. I personally think it's ridiculous when I see posts like ones that show a plant being watered on one side and a kid with a soda in his hand on the other saying "if you give your plants this why would you give your kid this"
Seriously? Everyone faces risks EVERY DAY. I promise you a Coke every once in awhile is not going to kill your child (or yourself). We spend so much time worrying about every little thing that could (might, maybe, possibly, but most unlikely) harm us. It's okay to be healthy, but remember to make sure you're living life, not limiting it.

lightseekingsoul What negativity are you holding onto? Comment below and let it go. Some times just putting it all out there helps get it out of your system. Is it work related? Does it have to do with family or friends? Money? Your self-esteem? Exhale the bad 2mon
  •   do.i.contradict.myself Work, money, day to day LIFE 2mon
  •   do.i.contradict.myself Fear of failing, being alone, not being seen as good enough 2mon
  •   oceansprinkles @lightseekingsoul you're such a sweetheart ️️🏻🏻 2mon
  •   nothingbuttrees I'm terrified of falling. Literally, and figuratively. If I fall, it's an affirmation of my belief that I'm simply not strong enough. 2mon
  •   teens_with_hearts I'm so scared of opening my business and having it unsuccessful. ;; I'm scared of losing money and my current finiancial issues. It sucks. My self esteem is plummeting to because I feel so unmotivated. Plus, all my friends have left me. I feel not worth it for anyone... 2mon
  •   happydazeee_ I'm holding on to past hurt. It's nearly crippling to my current relationships (platonic and romantic) and my own happiness. I find it hard to trust and truly opening myself up is terrifying because I don't want my heart to get broken again. I feel as though I am not "good enough" at times and my fear is translated into projection upon the ones I love. I know I need to release my pain and use it to motivate myself to do and be better, I know the ones who love me do so unconditionally and that is what matters. 2mon
  •   thewhimsicaldrifter I have been letting others get under my skin, and effect the way I think about life. I have been bottling it up, rather than giving myself some time to put it out in the open and meditate on it. I need to forgive the people who have hurt me, and also forgive myself. 2mon

  •   ravenschmidt I believe that there's mermaids too! The whole ocean hasn't even been throughly discovered, there could be all sorts of things that no one knows about. I love the ocean I think it's amazing and serene. 2mon
