Ohmygoodness! I was able to do a headstand with the wall! First time! I'd always try it without the wall and could never get my legs up and would even fall over! During meditation, I realised that it wasn't just because my core is weak, but it's also because I'm deathly scared! When Kerri Verna asked to set our intention, I decided my intention is to develop strength and courage. Well, you don't get courage overnight, so I thought, "Why have I never tried headstand and handstand with a wall??!!!" I've always seen others do it and heard them announce joyously when they're finally able to do it without the wall. Ohmygoodness. I really want to be strong. And not just strong physically but the kind of strong that Kino talks about. I wonder when I'll be able to do this whole routine completely? This is just the second time I've done this (I'm not even brave enough yet to try Day 2! ) but I'm happy to note that I was able to go from lying on my belly to resting chataranga even though it was probably just a few centimetres off the mat! leila_corvina Evening Relaxation meditation by Michelle Tarantina. Very, very relaxing. I almost fell asleep! "Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles. It takes away today's peace." I should keep this in mind. I've been worrying to much lately which probably is one of the reasons why my blood pressure isn't getting really better and has been fluctuating. So I went to the doctor since I wasn't feeling well this morning. and he prescribed an additional medicine for my hypertension. My blood pressure eventually settled down to the 150s/90s. Not good but at least better than this morning's 177/108. Hope the additional medication will help because my maintenance medication seems to be not working well anymore even with all the meditation, yoga, exercise, and healthy eating I've been doing. I have a strong feeling my lack of sleep, stress, and feelings of loneliness are factors in this. Need to change those. I really really would like to be off my meds someday! | via @codyapp 2w

leila_corvina Detox Diva. I missed yesterday's practice. I felt really tired upon waking up and couldn't get myself out of bed to do yoga. I interpret it as a sign on how I should more or less go about the days to come in my life--during winter, at least. I'll see how it goes when the temperature starts rising. Anyway, have you ever given thought about how a detox shouldn't only be for your colon or digestive system or the foods you eat? It can also be purging negative thought patterns, habits that don't serve you, or even relationships that are toxic to you and your emotions. It can also be about lessening your material possessions--you know, cleaning out your closets of all those trinkets and knick knacks that you've been hoarding all these years... And I really believe such things contribute to a sluggish or clogged qi in the home and possibly in your own life. So think about it... What kind(s) of detoxification do you need so that you can uncover your true essence and realise the life you were meant to live? Today was Day 1 - Release. It was pretty good and just the right kind if challenging. I felt quite good afterwards. I couldn't do some of the poses though such as the shoulder stand and the plow because of my neck condition, the crow because my arms and hands are weak ( I have carpal tunnel syndrome), and head stand because of my high blood pressure. It was great to watch Clara do the poses I can't do and to learn new stuff. And she makes it interesting at some points by making funny sounds. leila_corvina OMG! I died! Day 5 of the 20-Day a Plank Challenge. I completed it though I'm sure I looked like one of those funny posts that go: "What I think I look like...What I really look like!" And I really cannot do the 2-point plank! I keep losing my balance! Is there some secret technique to doing this or my core is just really that weak? Well, at least I can now hold the straight arm full plank for the prescribed period without fainting and I'm finding it easier to do the plank slides. I thought it would be easy pc but it really was an ACTIVE rest day! Whew! leila_corvina Beautiful, clear day with blue skies in Beijing today! After almost a week of horrible pollution (with Air Quality Index readings of up to 422! Over 50 is considered lightly polluted already. Imagine 400! Normal for Beijing is between 100 and 209 which is very polluted already for other countries. ). Meditated 10 minutes via Headspace app and did my morning awakening yoga practice. Both with my daughter! Nice. Then headed out for a nice bike ride and have a nice, healthy brunch then relaxing to read a good book. Off to run errands now in this beautiful Sunday.
