leetranlam 8-ball donuts with Coco Pops and Froot Loops at @drfaustus380 with @algriggs earlier today. (If you somehow dig the idea of me blithering on about how much I like this place, you can hit the link in my profile. It's my fave cafe at the moment, up there with @editioncoffeeroasters.) 5h

leetranlam At the @garrytrinh @artmonthsydney walk earlier today. This place was amazing/insane. Fake Elvises next to giant Oscars; phoney French cafe scenes and strange signs galore. And these oversized desserts next to this Vegas "souvenir". #artmonthsydney 1d

leetranlam Traipsing around on @garrytrinh's @artmonthsydney walk earlier; me being a sucker for a nice sign. #artmonthsydney 1d

leetranlam From the "I'm only here 'cos this place was on @berriisfull's feed" files. (She said it was her new fave Jap place a while back ...) 2d

leetranlam @drfaustus380 started serving "drunken fries" and it's amazing. It tastes like someone melted a cheeseburger over your chips. BYO defibrillators. 2d

leetranlam So very psyched that Waxahatchee is finally touring Australia in July! Nerdily bought my tix earlier today. @willreichelt & I were lucky enough to see her live in Paris a few years ago - the gig was only a few hours after we landed; bad traffic and a bunch of other things conspired against us getting to see the start of her set, but the rest of her bare-bones songs were so amazing. I think everyone needed a heart transplant after hearing "I Think I Love You", 'cos Waxahatchee basically destroyed all our beating organs with this stripped-clean version of the track. 3d

leetranlam Thank you for feeding us so ridiculously well last night, @telebizion! Your house is awesome - and thank you for letting us hang out in your whisky-drinking/"Seinfeld"-watching den. We shoulda brought some salty pretzels and Junior mints to really channel Jerry & co. (Also, someone needed to say: "the sea was angry that day my friends ...") 3d

leetranlam Way better than a Happy Meal - yuzu soda, chips with konbu salt & burger at @umerestaurant's burger pop-up earlier today. Thank you @kerbstarr for being so awesome! 1w

leetranlam From yesterday - thanks Dan & Carlos at @MakMakmacarons for letting me try out the new mango pudding ice cream sambo they've got on at Danks St @devoncafe. 1w

leetranlam Rhubarb, smoked yoghurt and koji. Thanks @ambrosechiang, @clovecks, @bgreeno & crew for setting the standards damn high. I joked that everyone should boobytrap the kitchen for Ben's last day, but apparently it's not worth the bloodbath and I don't want to be responsible for anyone's murder. But 3 weeks until Ben's outta there. So get to Momofuku if you can. He's been resetting and destroying everyone's expectations since late 2011 and what an awesome reign it's been. 1w

leetranlam Thanks @sophieafoster_ at @thecrumedia for breakfast at the #operabarcafe launch, which was definitely a step above the lazy muesli bar I run out the door with each morning. Thanks also @jeaninebribosia for "forcing" a @flourandstone panna cotta lamington on me once someone had foolishly abandoned their order from the cafe! 1w
  •   jeaninebribosia So good to see you @leetranlam I am secretly jealous that you got that pannacotta lamington... Have you ever tasted anything so good?! #operabarcafe 1w
  •   leetranlam @jeaninebribosia Good to see you, too! Thanks for the amazing lamington - happy to be "force-fed" something so great! Hope you have an excellent weekend that's full of things as ace as that Flour & Stone treat! 1w

leetranlam RIP Malcolm Fraser. I saw this flash on the news screens at work and was shocked - there's no doubt that I owe him a lifetime of gratitude; had he not given my parents second chances as refugees to Australia, I would not have had the life I'm lucky enough to live today.
I will always remember my dad telling me that Australia was the most humanitarian country to approach his refugee camp. I wish today's politicians had even a shred as much dignity and compassion when it comes to asylum seekers now.

  •   lemonpiy Couldn't agree more 1w
  •   whodidthat_official He was a wonderful person 1w
  •   leetranlam @lemonpiy Thanks for saying so. It's sad when leaders from decades ago are more progressive than today's politicians. But like Gough Whitlam's death, hopefully it reminds us that we can think bigger than how things currently are ... 1w
  •   leetranlam @whodidthat_official There's no doubt that he made a massive difference in so many people's lives. 1w
  •   tamanhle @leetranlam same here for me, but I also like to think that he was a visionary in that he saw the potentials of our parents and the benefits and contributions of generations that was not yet born. 1w
  •   styleswilson Beautiful post @leetranlam I love that Malcolm was so true to his beliefs that he quit the Liberal party. His strength of character so sadly lacking in today's parliament. 1w
  •   leetranlam @tamanhle I totally agree! I wish today's politicians could see beyond cheap vote-grabbing - and the statistics show that it costs about $60 a day to let refugees into the community as opposed to $500 a day to lock them up! It's not just a humane thing to do, but economically better, too. 1w
  •   leetranlam @styleswilson Thank you - I agree with you, the strength of his convictions is impressive and should be a standard-setter; sad that today's Parliament doesn't even aspire to that. 1w

leetranlam New podcast! I talk to @levdawg about closing The Dip, accidentally becoming the face of the opposition to the lockout laws, and being editor of @twothousand, where he's reviewed everything from Vegemite-stuffed-crust pizza ("one of the worst things I've ever eaten") to his favourite places to go to in Sydney (and how to construct his "Cabramatta Happy Meal" by walking the streets of the 2166 postcode). Plus, we chat about eating baos like burgers; the grossest thing he ever had to do as a chef; the amazing things he's consumed overseas (including the best tacos of his life), Taylor Swift, etc etc. It was really fun to chat to Levins - you can eavesdrop on our conversation by downloading my podcast on iTunes or hitting the link in my profile. It's worth listening right until the end!

And thanks to the excessively talented @boudist for kindly letting me use this awesome photo (Dan is definitely someone you should be following, if you somehow aren't already in his Instagram follower count)!

  •   lemonpiy Awesome. Looking forward to listening 2w
  •   thesugarhit That photo is classic! 2w
  •   leetranlam @telebizion I love that idea! 2w
  •   leetranlam @levdawg I'm sure it's more enjoyable than a Vegemite-stuffed-crust pizza! BTW, I love @telebizion's concept. Maybe we can add someone busking "Shake It Off" to the mix, just to make it more meta. 2w
  •   leetranlam Haha, @hanzgueco - using this photo has really backfired on me! Next time I'll scrape together a cool million or so to get Annie Leibovitz to do some fancy "Vanity Fair" portrait to help promo my podcast. Thanks for listening - hope Paris is as damn amazing as it looks in your pics. 2w
  •   leetranlam @lemonpiy Thanks for being awesomely kind and listening! Hope your great stash of choc is super-effectively keeping the post-trip blues away. 2w
  •   leetranlam @thesugarhit Yes, @boudist's photo is amazing! 2w
