ledharmabum Last night I got share in the excitement of seeing @nashker's #AsiatoAmerica book hit its goal on Kickstarter with just a few hours remaining. Needless to say, someone was quite stoked!
Congratulations again Nate! (And thanks to @apexer for the stellar backdrop.)

ledharmabum Foggy? Sunny? With San Francisco you can expect it all in one day. And while the weather tries to figure itself out, I'll bury my thoughts some beautiful prose. 3mon

ledharmabum I've been reflecting a lot on what I've enjoyed most about photography. As a child, I would constantly revisit old photos which were kept in old shoe boxes in the closet. Every time I brought them out, it seems I gave them life again. The people in the photos, sometimes strangers, always caused me wonder what life was like at that moment, in that space, in their bodies.

I've been reading a great book which I randomly happened on one day and it has caused me to dig deeper into the stories I want to tell. This is partly the reason why I don't post as much as I did previously. Since going abroad last year, it has opened me up again about what photography means to me and I've begun to focus on the stories that are happening around us. I've taken out my camera less and engaged more in conversations with people.

This photo was from my first trip aboard where I went to Cape Town, SA to work on a student documentary. It was also the first time I had ever developed and processed black and white film. Needless to say it was an overwhelming feeling when I saw this image come alive. I remember being extremely critical of some of my other shots because I felt the framing wasn't right or some areas were under/over exposed but most of all I remember my professor Roy DeCarava, who was known for his iconic images of the civil rights movement and jazz era in NYC, tell me to focus on the story I was obligated to tell because I had been a witness of that time and space. I remember everything about that exact moment and it has begun to resonate more and more in everything I do.
So I ask, what is the story you want to tell?
