larryransom THE LAST OF THE V8s

When I was a tot, my dad introduced me to The Road Warrior via a bootleg beta max tape. I was probably too young to be seeing such a wild movie but whatever. I loved every second of the movie and it really captured my imagination. A short time later my dad told me there was a movie that predated The Road Warrior called Mad Max and we were off to the video store to rent it. I loved it just as much. I watched both movies countless times.

In the summer of 1985 he and I snuck out of a family party to catch a matinee of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome at the Eastern Hills Mall. Today, 30 years later, my dad and I went to see Fury Road... and it ruled.

  •   tendersphinx So good!! 1w
  •   davidmsams123 Great story. I had to get my parents to rent Mad Max when I was a kid by telling them it wasn't a horror and it was about cars. 1w

larryransom One of my favorite things I've ever done was being the "A&R" guy for this record. From cold calling Colin and saying "Let's get the band together," to meeting with Brian after a few Bad Religion gigs to talk shop, booking studio time with Don Zientara, coordinating the design with Jason Farrell, getting Jordan onboard with the budget... It was all very exciting.

I'm very happy to see this underrated record back in print on vinyl for Record Store Day and beyond.
