Aaah to be that lean but with muscle How did I do it? Well friends. I ate salad, nacho mince and chocolate (like, so much variety) intermittently fasted (so basically i ate dinner and chocolate for dessert), did @warrant_of_fitness bootcamps 3 times a week plus lots of brisk walking and garage workouts and breastfed a baby mammoth. It fell off fast.

I totally didnt eat enough (duh) and that was my biggest downfall (also duh). Eventually you get bloody hungry (especially if you're also trying to get strong) and you eat all the food in the house at 3am and find those rank lollies lurking in the bottom of your hand bag and wolf them down while your at it. And then proceed to punish yourself into submission by working out more. Not logical. Not fun. Not healthy. And not going to get you the desired result.

But thats okay, some things I did really well, other things i did really really wrong. So take the good and work on the rest and do it better next time yo.

kingkiri 6 weeks ago, my 2 year old son was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1 and its been life-changing. After the initial shock, there was sadness, grief even. Grieving the healthy child he once was. And then the guilt and self-blame. Although there was nothing i could have done to stop this from happening (it's an auto-immune disease), these feelings do linger and managing his diabetes has been a bit of a roller coaster. I'm so greatful it's manageable and eventually it will become second nature to him as he likely wont remember life pre-diabetes. Zil has been so amazing its the best thing ever seeing him put on weight and looking healthy and strong and back to his goofy self again.

Naturally my own goals have taken a back seat but now more than ever, I realise that working out and eating well are so important for my state of mind and being a positive and happy mother and wife. So tomorrow my routine will see me back at the gym and ive started putting more effort into my own diet

kingkiri Throwing it back to some heavy swings.

I havent been to the gym in what feels like forever. Been dealing with some tough things and my fitness has taken a dive. If I'm being honest, when I think about taking some 'me' time at the gym i feel guilty, like I should be doing something else. Having a sick child has altered my perspective though and I know that this is how I'm dealing right now and once I get my head around things, fitness will eventually be part of my daily life again.

Life! It ebbs, it flows, it rushes, it slows. You just gotta ride out the storm and adjust ya sails.

kingkiri We have a GHD yayaaah. It took me ages to figure out how to do this, I adjusted the machine like 10 times 😯 My hamstrings were shaking like crazy after, so at least the right muscle was doing the work. I really enjoyed doing these glute ham raises. Form advice welcomed please! I still don't know what im doing really hahaha. Im excited to use this as a reverse hyper with banded resistance next time! Our gym is thebomb.com. Really happy with how my squats are progressing, 10x5 @ 80kg with 2min rest tonight. Increasing that volume and having fun! Mobility & warm up with hip circle
Squats: 4x2 5 sec pause squats @ 50kg + speed set of 15 reps to finish focusing on power from the bottom and keeping core engaged and tight throughout.
Hip thrusts: 5x10 adding a band each set + 30 second hold with red, purple and green power bands to finish
Bench: Working set 1x3, 1×2 @ 50kg (hehe hey there PR) Been performing a power lifting style bench and i loooove it.
Chest supported DB rows: 5x10 @ 8kg dbs
Cable machine: kick backs and hip abductions for 3x20 each leg
T spine mobility

kingkiri Flashback to skinnier days. Roughly a year and 8 months ago. I managed to lose a ton of weight after having my son. However i wasnt able to sustain it for a long period of time. It can be easy to lose a lot of weight, yes. But did i do it the right way? Was it a lifestyle/diet that was sustainable? In hindsight, no. I had much to learn about health, food, good habits and mindset. The last year I have made soo much progress. But not the kind of progress that is necessarily measurable or visible to others. I had to address internal issues that have been lingering around for half my life.

So to others they may look at me and think, wow shes put on weight in the last year. Or, heck she's gone backwards. But to me i think, wow there's a girl who is being honest and realistic with her expectations. There's a girl that has prioritised mental and spiritual health over 'losing fat'. There's a girl who is stronger than shes ever been - physically and mentally. That girl has gained muscle and knowledge and a healthier view of self. I feel like I am in a healthy position to broaden that focus to embrace physical change i.e fat loss. But in a healthy, slow and sustainable way.
