kidgiddy A sweet friend came over so I could teach her daughters how to sew, and they brought me this huge bouquet of #flowers. They are so beautiful and just what I needed to brighten my day. #ilovegivingservice 27min

kidgiddy My brain never shuts off. Carving & sanding a little something when I'm not sewing. #cork 22h
  •   lolapepe3 What you making? 17h
  •   kidgiddy @lolapepe3 little gifts for sisters at church if they complete a reading challenge for all of September. 16h

kidgiddy Working all the pretty little details. Couldn't find a skinnier trim, so I took the ribbon out & cut it down the center. 1d

kidgiddy Certain things freak me out. Like loud noises and #serging. #widn 2d
  •   thequiltengineer Don't be afraid! You've got this! 2d
  •   lenn518 It's just the name serge. 2d
  •   kidgiddy @thequiltengineer thanks! I sat with it for about an hour serging tons of scraps wondering why the underneath side was so loose and ratty looking. Finally I looked up at the threads and the whole thing in general and said "what?!" As in what's the deal - tell me what I'm doing wrong - and I found one thread was not in the right hook. It worked perfectly after that. Lol. 2d

kidgiddy Massive #sorting project underway. Saving one piece of every pattern for each of my daughters #scrapquilts. I want to make a hexie quilt but not sure I can make two. Would it be selfish of me to make mine a hexie and theirs squares? 3d
  •   kidgiddy (Most of these scraps were from the making of my book. The other scrap bin is still in the studio.) 3d
  •   needledfig Nope, not selfish. 3d
  •   nanabecca Not at all. I applaud your plan. 3d
  •   jkigin Squares on point would be awesome. 3d

kidgiddy Totally random photo - but couldn't resist the little bottle some little child left behind at chipotle today. Someone must have picked it up and left it on the counter for all to see while they ordered their food. I remember playing with these and my dolls when I was little. #sadandfunny 4d
  •   joaniessweetstitches Sure brings back memories- happy to see they still make them. I played with some 45 yrs ago. The little girl will be sad. 4d

kidgiddy Seeing a light at the end of the tunnel on this project - but not sure how to quilt or finish this last piece. I think I'm too tired. Any recommendations? #nautical 4d
  •   ruthrowe Waves or doodled stars 4d
  •   kidgiddy @lenn518 I did. Can't focus anymore. 4d
  •   kidgiddy @ruthrowe I was thinking of waves - but don't want it to get too busy. Maybe if I did it in navy thread it wouldn't be so busy. I usually use white. 4d
  •   thecottonfarmfabrics Waves or clouds. I like clouds with the flags. 4d
  •   thecottonfarmfabrics They look like boating flags to me. ??? 4d
  •   kidgiddy @thecottonfarmfabrics they are nautical flags and each one represents a letter. I can't show the whole project for fear of someone in particular seeing it too soon before getting the gift and figuring it out. 4d
  •   thecottonfarmfabrics I say swirly clouds then. 4d
  •   ruthrowe Definitely use a navy and maybe one line of white or a lighter blue. The waves could be fairly spread out, loose style and it would look amazing! Loving your nautical series 3d

kidgiddy Latest #fabricstash installment. Some #cottonandsteel for me and some #pugs for my daughters. 4d
  •   kidgiddy (I might share some of the cotton and steel with them too). 4d
  •   jjhellermusic Love that tiger fabric!! 4d
  •   katiegoulder That tiger fabric is the absolute cutest 4d
  •   kidgiddy @jjhellermusic @katiegoulder I ordered the pink too but it's on back order. It's also in blue (and tech the fat quarter stack has the pink and blue also). Yippee! Get it while you can - it prob will sell out. I got mine on fabric.com but there are a lot of other etsy shops and small business folks that have it too. My local quilt shop hadn't gotten their order in yet. It's part of the hatbox collection from cotton and steel. 4d

kidgiddy Who says you can't play with your food once in a while? It was #pancakenight & this little guy showed up. 5d
  •   mockingbirdprimitives My mom used to do this with us as well. We would ask for the hardest animals and see if she would do it. 5d
  •   kidgiddy @mockingbirdprimitives lol. Kudos to your mom. This was purely an accident. It was the very last pancake and it came out with one ear. There were teeny tiny drops that my daughter always loves - so I put them on top and moved them around and made the face. Daddy got it because I couldn't make any more. Can't give it to one kid and not the other. Lol 5d
  •   littlemoondance Too cute! I like to use metal cookie cutters for fun pancake shapes otherwise the best I can do is a lopsided Mickey Mouse 5d
  •   kidgiddy I mostly have plastic cookie cutters so I haven't tried that - next Friday night I will! Lol @littlemoondance 5d
  •   nicoledbless I use Wilton squeeze bottles! Fun pancakes are the best! 5d
  •   kidgiddy @nicoledbless I've got to do that! 4d

kidgiddy Gettin' all #coastal up in here and crossing stuff off the list. This is now 50% done. #nautical 5d
  •   schnitzelandboo That looks like a fun project! 5d
  •   kidgiddy @schnitzelandboo it is...I'll post the completed pic when I can. 5d
  •   argyle24 Nautical flags!! Are you doing the alphabet or spelling something specific? 5d
  •   kidgiddy @argyle24 something specific. It's for a gift so I can't say what and for whom - or they may figure it out. I did them with paper piecing patterns instead of painstakingly cutting out the pieces for each. 5d
  •   argyle24 @kidgiddy very clever! It'll be fantastic 5d

kidgiddy One if my sweet friends just told me about a FOUR page spread my book has in the November @molliemakesusa - no one told me it was coming but I just jumped up and down in my kitchen celebrating. Thank you so much Jan Hughes for your lovely words! And thank you @n_freese9 for sharing all the first pics and good news! 7d

kidgiddy Love my dog wood tree and it's little berries. If only they were good enough to eat. 7d
  •   sewmamasew Thanks for your comment. I have to get a dogwood! Love the flowers in spring and these cool berries in late summer! 7d
  •   kidgiddy I have always loved dogwoods. I begged my hub for a dogwood for each of my babies births. He planted pine trees. I asked the next year for dogwoods and got lilacs. Then the year after that / we got full landscaping and I got a dogwood. Lol. He's the green thumb guy. 7d
  •   kidgiddy @sewmamasew see above 7d
  •   katespain Love dogwoods! You should come to CT when they bloom next spring. There's a whole dogwood festival to celebrate in an historic area called Greenfield Hill. The area is planted with dogwoods in every hue as far as the eye can see! You'd love it! 6d
  •   kidgiddy @katespain no way. That sounds beautiful to my ears. Lol. I used to live in Manchester and pass through CT on my way to visit family in NY. Where are you? We should try to connect at some point. Maybe during the festival. 6d
  •   katespain We're in Bridgeport. Where in NY do your relatives live? Let me know if you're ever passing through! 6d
  •   kidgiddy @katespain on Long Island. I'm always going through Bridgeport! 5d

kidgiddy Anyone else thinking this would make a seriously awesome quilt? #streetart #graffiti 1w
  •   sarahjanestudios Wow! Love that you could even see the potential! 1w
  •   lxs124 Where is this? 1w
  •   nyc_christopher @kidgiddy love this!! 1w
  •   lenn518 Great idea. 1w
  •   kidgiddy @sarahjanestudios I give my mom all the credit in teaching me to always see potential in all art forms. Because I work with fabric - I'm always translating what I see to create with fabric. Are you heading to market this fall? Would love to get together for dinner one night with you and Heather and anyone else that wants to join us - it keep it quaint? 1w
  •   kidgiddy @lxs124 it's in Portland around the corner from the fedex office place. I believe it's on asylum street?. 1w
  •   kidgiddy @nyc_christopher totally thought of you after I posted it! You should come up here to photograph some stuff. Lol 1w

kidgiddy Chocolate cake doesn't help make loss, less painful. Fabric doesn't either - but had to get my #fabricfix anyway. @missletterm #cottonandsteel #mustang #love 1w
  •   babesandbrides Hugs,, grief takes time, sorry you have to go through it . 1w
  •   joaniessweetstitches Time . . . Is the best healer. One day all the joyful memories will fill you up with warm happy feelings. Painful grieving = loss of a amazing wonderful loved one. So happy your Granny was a wonderful amazing loved one for you. 1w

kidgiddy This may not make for the most gorgeous pic that #sunflowers are so well known for - but seriously - have you ever seen a Siamese Sunflower? A flower within a flower? 1w
  •   modernhandcraft He has a mustache! 1w
  •   kidgiddy @modernhandcraft lol! I should get some huge google eyes! 1w
  •   schnitzelandboo That's crazy! 1w
  •   kidgiddy @schnitzelandboo I thought when I saw it all closed up still, that those little green leaves that were in the center would kinda absorb and go away. This is the first year that the deer didn't get all of out flowers so I had never seen the different stages. It's been fun to watch and finally I realized it was a whole other flower! Crazy! 1w
  •   susangarnercrafthouse Interesting ! 1w
  •   kidgiddy @adventuresinchildrearing have you ever seen or read about this kind of thing in your homeschooling adventures? 1w
  •   yourstrulydear Sunflowers are in the Aster family, which means every little petal/seed you see is technically it's own flower, just on one big base. So if I were to see this on any plant, it's not surprising to see it on this one! So cool! 1w
  •   kidgiddy @yourstrulydear if that's the case - I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often! 1w
