kellyraeroberts True and I dropped in on our friend @florabowley's #bloomtrueportland painting workshop today. We marveled at all the gorgeous student paintings and even did a little painting ourselves. Flora is a gifted painting teacher and the work coming out of her workshops shows it. Well done Flora and bloom true students!! Flora has an online painting workshop that starts June 1st - check it out! 13h

kellyraeroberts Just got off a call with my brand mgr @february13creative after a previous call with another consultant regarding some needs we have here at KRR, including a producer role. And now I'm settling into writing content for my various offerings. As I think about all the little (and big) things I get to do (painting, licensing, products + prints, books, Ecourses), I am sooooooo grateful to have the support I have both here in KRR land but also out there with you all, supporting what I do. Also really grateful for all the inspiration that hangs around, patiently waiting (sometimes years) to be born into something tangible. I sometimes can't believe my life. I am happy, fulfilled, as balanced as I'm ever gonna get with creativity on board, and just genuinely excited for what's ahead in life and in biz. #grateful #pinchme #goodday 3d
  •   redchisel Your creative space and your positive attitude make my heart sing! xx 3d

  •   barbturtlo Greatly deserved!!!! Oh, I want your studio... 2d
  •   rozannehenry Many many blessings 2d
  •   amapajama The answer everyone gives me every time I discuss my discontent (which is a lot) the answer invariably has been: WRITE. CREATE. EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FALL INTO PLACE. After YEARS of all the soul and emotional work I finally realized that this truly is the only answer! That is one long-ago 2d
  •   amapajama ...excuse me, long-ass wait for a true epiphany. 2d
  •   pixielighthorse I hear you! It's such a good life. We are so blessed by the seeds and fruits of out creations. Thank you for pioneering, dear sister. 1d

kellyraeroberts “Scared is what you're feeling. Brave is what you're doing.”

I love the idea of "brave" being a verb. "I am brave" takes on new meaning when you think of it that way, doesn't it?

kellyraeroberts A friend of mine recently told me the story of how she unexpectedly shed the last lingering bits of her girlhood and fully entered womanhood. It involved setting a fierce and clear boundary with someone who was, for lack of a better phrase, in her face. She set the boundary and suddenly and completely felt a full embodiment of her adult woman self, feeling the last pieces of her girlhood slip away. She felt the empowerment of the transition in that moment, and I was totally struck by her story.

I want that moment, I thought. And to get it, I'll have to get angry. I just know this in my bones. I don't do anger, and I can tell it's holding me back.

Anyway, the whole conversation made me realize all the ways I, too, am holding onto my girlhood. In many ways I have embraced my womanhood - the part of me that is fierce, confident, and capable - but in many ways I have not.

I struggle sometimes, a lot of times, with taking up space. It's my soul work to complete, I know, and something tells me that once I do it, once I fully embrace the full range of who I am, that I will finally let the last pieces of my girlhood go.

I'm turning 40 next month. Perhaps that will be my birthday wish - to shed the layers of girlhood that are holding me back from reaching my full womanhood self. I think that would be amazing.

Life. I adore it.

  •   quirkygal How lovely 4d
  •   soulscribbles Dearest Kelly, give yourself permission to take up space, to be emotionally honest without fear or filters, because as human beings we are actually 'emotional beings' first. You'd soul knows this, it's just waiting for you to figure it out. It's the reason you're here - to take up space, to know your truth, to embrace all your facets, all of them, and then to share it all with the universe. So, assert, inspire, share/let go of anger, create, despise, forgive, nurture and savor your space - be emotionally honest. Give yourself permission; your soul already has. 4d
  •   soulscribbles Your 40s will be amazing. That shift, that sense of emotional empowerment will continue and you'll be amazed at how it will define you by the time you reach your 50s. You'll be less about "I don't do anger" and move more towards being naturally fierce regarding your boundaries (and everything else for that matter ;-) ). I believe it has less to do with letting go of the last remnants of 'girlhood' (for we always carry our childhoods with us), or of embracing our 'adult womanhood' (which is specifically about a female journey) but more about learning how to be emotionally honest with ourselves - which is something that applies to all genders and ages. Wouldn't it be wonderful if, along with math, history, language and all the other subjects schools offer as important, necessary knowledge needed to educate our children that teaching them how to be emotionally intelligent would also be included as a valuable part of the curriculum and a necessary life skill? 4d
  •   jkneeh We ADORE you!!! Everyone takes up space(some more than others) because if we weren't meant to take up space here on earth we would not have been gifted with a body...we would just be energy! Embrace turning 40 and I think with the intent you have set you will see different results happen quickly! Thanks for sharing....I turn 39 on Saturday and I was pondering 'things' too!!! 4d
  •   kmcgavic This post resonated so strongly with me. In fact, it has been lingering in my mind since I read it last night. I need to shed my girlhood as well. It is a part of my journey and a constant work in progress. I think this has been one of the most difficult areas for me to see changes. Let's work on taking up space together! 4d
  •   jeanburman I love the little girl in me. Some days she's the best I've got and the one who sees me through. She's cute and funny and loves to run along the beach in the shallows simply enjoying the splash of the waves on her legs. It's taken me awhile to find her again after all these years and I hope I don't ever lose her again to life's "seriousness" Losing any part of yourself is not a best option. It takes many parts to make a whole and there is no need to shed your girlhood because you feel you should. Being a woman is also about being a girl and remembering all the beautiful ways she continues to make you who you are @kellyraeroberts 4d
  •   jeanburman PS thanks @kellyraeroberts for making me think about this the little girl in me loved it 4d
  •   mandy_ford I'm in the middle of a difficult situation at work where I've had to stand up for myself and set hard boundaries...this resonates so much for me. I hadn't thought about it as shedding my girlhood but it really is. So empowering! Thanks for putting a positive spin on it for me. 3d
