kellie_adkins Sometimes a piece of jewelry begs to be re-created again and again....like this Rose Quartz mala. I have 3 of these beauties ready to leave the nest.
Message or comment below if you'd like to claim one for your own awakened heart (Note: Mother's Day is coming up *wink wink*) Rose Quartz - the Awakened Heart Mala

Rose Quartz is a powerful heart chakra stone and the supreme stone of love, lovingkindness and compassion. Known as the Love stone, Rose quartz is a soothing heart protector and awakens Goddess energy, allowing the wearer to taproot into feminine power.

Rose Quartz is a heart-healing stone and a perfect stone for mothers. Also therapeutic for breast, chest, or lung issues (and for preventive protection). The Awakened Heart Mala features 108 faceted rose quartz beads individually hand-knotted on durable ruby red nylon cordette.
A large, faceted Rose Quartz guru bead and rosebud silk-rayon tassel, Thai silver accents and a tiny gold vermeil Lotus charm finish the mala.
A perfect mala for prayers, mantra or to wear. #modernmala #jewelrywithmeaning

kellie_adkins I took a social media fast last week. Although I kept up with the bare minimum required for my business, I stayed off social media at all other times. In part, I needed to sort through some big decisions for my business and life. (See previous post)
The result? I'm finally accepting what I've known for a long time: I am happiest when I create beauty (and don't seek others approval ). Here's what I've been up to this past week when I wasn't on Instagram liking and commenting. Instead of tweeting, sharing, & posting, I was reciting mantra & crafting the most beautiful jewelry I've ever dared create.
The most surprising part? I had to shovel through piles of my own resistance. My inner critic showed up and said "why even try? You're late to the jewelry party & no one wants what you create." "How are you going to sell these?" "You don't need to start another business!" "You don't have time for this." But after a full week devoting myself to creating for the love of it, my cells are singing. My heart is happy despite the tidal wave of grief the past weeks have been. I love making sacred jewelry with meaning - and always have. These malas are rich with meaning, mantra & protection: spiritual armor for spiritual warriors. If you see one that catches your eye, let me know I'm working on reviving my Etsy page but it may be a while! And if you're a coach, yogi or light worker, I would love love love to create a custom piece just for you #modernmalas #likeayogi

kellie_adkins Last week, after the most chaotic and stressful two weeks in business ever, I paused the Yoga Educator Academy launch. The short version is that the site wasn't working and I couldn't figure out why. There was more to this than just a hacked site, but that was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I had to decide.

The entire launch leading up to that point had "hiccups," which compounded the already stressful act of launching on this scale.
I literally dreaded opening my email inbox because every time I did there was another issue.
I began to question everything —the dreams, projects and plans I put on hold for the year because I "didn't feel ready." I began to question the deeper reason I was launching the course in this way (a digital training) — even though I craved an embodied experience.

I accepted the answers and I bought myself some time: I hit the pause.
Then: the guilt, shame & doubt crept in. The feeling that I had let people down. The belief that others might think me flaky. So I shifted into Both/And thinking:: My business was making me miserable. AND, I felt passionate about what I was sharing in the Yoga Educator Academy.
A Both/And.

When I embraced the power of Both/And thinking, the solution arose —it started with me asking "What lights my heartfire?" And "how do I like to serve others?" Here's what lights my heartfire —it's also how I most like to serve others in business and in life:
Teaching others what I know.

Creating beauty.

Resonance. Collaboration.
Communication.

Transformation.
Leadership.

So I came full circle back to the Yoga Educator Academy, because this is what the program teaches. Using the spiritual journey of the chakras, we consciously create a business, program or experience that allows us to touch people's minds and hearts, inspire change and transformation, and spark the light of connection. On a very practical level, the program teaches you the ins and outs of designing, marketing and sharing a program, workshop or training.
If earning more sharing yoga is in your wish list, this program is custom built for you. Want a taste? Free training at the link above. #yogabiz #likeayogi

  •   tulaajewelry @kellie_adkins I am a yogi, not a yoga teacher, but your words here really resonate with me. I'm a jewelry designer, and am in a space right now of figuring out what really lights my fire- I feel I have lost touch sometimes! I also have a desire to share and teach what I know, but unsure of what that looks like. Never heard of the Both/And approach, but sounds interesting! Thank you 1w
  •   kellie_adkins @tulaajewelry so happy to hear it resonated! The Both/And approach comes from philosophical inquiry but it works just as well in life & business. P.S. I love jewelry designers - jewelry art was:is my first love (see next post!). We beauty lovers are kindred spirits #beautyismyreligion 1w

kellie_adkins Aaaaaand, this is a sneak peek of things yet to come. ((This Mala is featured in the forthcoming photos by @cjust. So excited to share them!!)) // Queen of Swords Modern Mala. The queen of Swords represents the woman who is independent in thought & judgement. She is a quick thinker, perceptive & trusts her intuition. She is able to use her impartiality to speak truth & to make honest decisions. She's been through a difficult spiritual journey & the tassel signifies her former bondage & the fact that she has broken through. The silk tassel serves as a reminder of all she's overcome. // 108 faceted gemstones representing the Root & Brow chakras -- stability, trust & intuition. // Labradorite :: the stone of intuition & inner wisdom. Awakens insight. Said to be the frozen fire of the aurora borealis, this stone assists in accessing magic & awakening psychic abilities. // Garnet :: stone of regeneration & is said to bring order to chaos. Grounds one's dreams in reality. Shields one from negative emotions (including one's own). // Smoky Quartz :: stone of physical & psychic protection. Assists in manifestation. Transforms negative energy into positive. Used to awaken higher consciousness. #modernmalas 2w

kellie_adkins I made a difficult decision yesterday: I hit the pause button on a huge launch that has been nothing but trouble, headaches & snafus from the beginning. People already have very strong opinions about my decision. Mostly, I've received support. But many - even colleagues I considered friends - have passed judgment, calling my decision surprising, shaky, unprofessional.
I agree. Sort of.

I am the one who has to live with my decisions & my business - & intuition has been shoving me in this direction for some time.
I hesitated. I bargained. I pleaded. I persisted. I kept going, because that's what you do, right? Keep going. Even when things are falling apart.
I'm a warrior at heart & I have an extremely high tolerance for discomfort: so I kept pushing.

Until last week when my grandmother passed away & a switch flipped inside my heart. Life is tragically short. Later, I had a dream/vision that she was wagging her finger at me & telling me to use my voice. I began to sing (like she taught me) & gold coins began pouring from my mouth like a river.

Later: I began to see lizards- everywhere in the environment. I'd open my eyes in meditation & a lizard would be sitting right next to me. A lizard appeared in my house. A flurry of lizards scattered before me on a recent walk.
I thought it strange so I looked up animal totem, lizard. The message was clear: stop hiding your gifts underneath a rock. Dream bigger. Listen to what others can't hear- but what you can no longer ignore.

It felt scary to dream bigger. It felt terrifying to speak the truth I've felt for a long time: it's time for a transformation.

I listened. I acknowledged the inner whispers. Then: I spoke. Professional or not, my business (and life) is built on the premise of awakening insight & following through on that inner wisdom.
Here's what I have to tell you: living a fully awake life & truly walking your talk is not for the faint of heart. You need a warrior spirit because most people won't understand. Many people will judge you. Others will be disappointed, angry, hurt.
Keep the faith & keep listening to what others can't hear.
That's what #LikeAYogi truly means to me. Photo credit: @cjust

kellie_adkins THIS. Inspiration for an image co-created yesterday with the talented & magical @cjust. When I had the dream of "girl with sword," I first thought: crazy?! How am I going to fit this into my "brand?" Then, I shared the dream/vision/image with @cjust and she was just as excited. So we made it happen, brand be damned. Because beauty is my religion. Can't wait to share!! #beautyismyreligion {[ image from Pinterest ]} 3w

kellie_adkins Sharing yoga is a passion for me. I learned so many wonderful things in Yoga Teacher Training: how to lead a skillful class, how to offer amazing adjustments, how to guide all levels of students, how to keep people's bodies safe on the mat. .
.
Unfortunately, I didn't learn how to keep from burning out, how to place appropriate boundaries around time & money, or how to earn a sustainable living sharing yoga. .
.
As a teacher trainer myself, I understand why most Teacher Trainings can't cover the essential business & professional development necessary to become a high earning yogi. .
.
But that doesn't mean we don't need that information. In fact, we need it more than ever. Most yoga teachers earn under $20,000 annually. There are a few "celebrity yogis" that tip the scale toward 6 figures or higher. So why are so many people flocking to #yogateachertraining when clearly this career path isn't sustainable (for most)? .
.
Because we are experiencing an epidemic of stress, distraction, overwhelm, & over busy-ness. And yoga helps.
.
.
What doesn't help is when your passion for yoga fizzles out because you can't pay your bills. What doesn't help is when you feel teaching yoga is a dharma, but you get burned out from the running around and under-earning. What doesn't help is the scarcity mentality so prevalent in the yoga industry that keeps us from supporting & empowering our sisters & brothers in yoga.
.
.
I have a solution. Bring more yoga into your business -- and more business into your yoga. For the past 8 years I've been sharing yoga full time. Over the past 5 years, I've trained & mentored other yogis and yoga teachers. I've heard the fears, the limiting beliefs, & the conundrums which plague our industry. .
.
And I've put together a free training tackling the three most insidious limiting beliefs keeping *most* yoga teachers from being high earners. It's short, sweet & strategic -- get it free at the link above {[ www.YogaEducatorAcademy.com ]}

kellie_adkins Today’s #LikeAYogi interview is with the incredible Christine Northcote (@gumbygirlc) Christine holds a special place in my heart because —in many ways — we are yoga lineage sisters! It was a gift to feature her business and her brilliance in this series.

In the interview, Christine shares her journey from part-time yoga teacher with a full time job in the traditional business world to full time Studio Owner as the dynamic force behind the successful Winter Park, Florida, studio: Full Circle Yoga. Christine gets honest about what it really took to transform that business after purchasing the well-established local business from her teacher --it’s clear Christine is a shining example of yoga in action.
