kairos_catcher Cracking open my archives for this one. When I sat in for Angelique Kerber's press conferences last year, she struck me as a rather flat character. Not unpleasant, just flat. Her press conferences would always be the shortest because she didn't have anything interesting to say.
She complained bitterly after being eliminated during the round robin stage - nerves got to her and she couldn't play her game well. Two days ago, she said during her press conference at the Aussie Open that her experience in Singapore was a turning point where she promised that she “will never let the pressure turn against me”. After Singapore, she told herself to “take this challenge, take the exposure from Singapore and change it”. Tonight, she proved she upped her game, by taking down the world number 1 Serena Williams. kairos_catcher It's the beginning of a new year. I will keep choosing to be thankful. ------- The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭22-23‬ ESV) 1mon

kairos_catcher Last post of 2015:
I don't have a #2015bestnine but I do have some moments this year that meant a lot to me. First row: I visited some beautiful places and rediscovered my love for landscape photography in Yosemite and Tasmania.
Second row: Covered the SEA Games in June - a childhood dream fulfilled, watched my team, the Thunder play while sitting near courtside at two home games in Oklahoma, and shot a photo that went viral during the 2015 Singapore General Elections.

Third row: These two moments are significant. Growing up, I detested tennis and netball. Just couldn't get into these sports. Fast forward many years later to now, where sports is a big part of what I do at work. I have a newfound appreciation for these two sports and sometimes even enjoy watching them . It's been a year of significant growth, redemption and surprises. Maybe Redemption has more stories to tell in 2016.

Happy new year, everyone.

kairos_catcher It's been a good December.

I am not usually sentimental about the end of the year because the 11 months before usually knock all the wind out of me. But this year, I know that I finished the work year well, and have had the time to reconnect with friends who've known me for 1/3 of my adult life. Good times.

kairos_catcher I love basketball, and my annual Boxing Day tradition is to watch the NBA Christmas games. But these wheelchair basketballers, who played at the ASEAN Para Games in Singapore in early December - they're all heart and sportsmanship, even with their opponents. Here, two Myanmar players help a fallen Singapore player just before halftime. This is another pic from my series on unguarded moments in sports events. kairos_catcher Usually I don't like the busyness of the festive season - all the rush to get stuff for people, send out Christmas cards on time just flusters me.
But this year I had the chance to think about the past 11 months and feel gratitude. Gratitude for unexpected gifts and opportunities, for growth, for punching above our weight when the odds were against us.
For me, Christmas represents the purest form of redemption and hope that was gifted to this earth. In the year ahead, may you experience that in great measure.
From me and mine to you and yours, blessed Christmas.

kairos_catcher One of my highlights from this year - getting to meet and interview @garbimuguruza whose career has been on a big upswing this year. ---- Sharing some of my images from this year. I attended a lot of sports meets, but didn't always get pictures that I thought were outstanding. Here's a couple of my favorites from different events this year 2mon
