journeyofnow This is just a nightmare
But soon I'm going to wake up
Someone's gonna bring me around.

One of my favorite Radiohead songs. Happy Friday.

  •   redblueox Four minutes. I love it. 2w
  •   redblueox Comforting but ominous, like the credits to a horror movie. 2w
  •   frengels Big Radiohead fan myself Stephen. My favourite of that album is "jigsaw falling into place" it's one of those songs that I sing along loudly and leaves me smiling and relaxed afterwards, if that makes any sense. My all time favourite is "street spirit" though. 1w
  •   journeyofnow @redblueox yes my friend. I hope you are well sir. 1w
  •   journeyofnow @frengels nice Petra, I didn't know that. Jigsaw is a great song as well. Ohh street spirit was from the bends. I enjoy that song as well my friend. 1w
  •   journeyofnow @kristinelissa yes, that song just has a way of ripping your heart, exploring ones depths of emotions. It's strange, but their sound has a way of just intensifying a very select set of emotions, no other group does that for me on a consistent basis. 1w

journeyofnow Story behind a photo:
This shot was taken just after my book club meeting. Today we reviewed The Power of Vulnerability: Teachings on Authenticity, Connection and Courage. By Brene Brown.

This was a wonderful book and worth checking out. Here are something's I learned.

We can only love someone else to the degree we love ourselves (then she goes on to show you how this is probably so, showing parents that the things that they are negative to in their children are actually things that they find hard to accept in themselves.

We do not want to be hurt so badly, that we decide not to embrace the joy that we could in our lives; because we might hurt to lose it...and so live un-actualized lives. She shows how we numb ourselves, using food, TV, internet, "social networking" and other ways; just as addicts use drugs or alcohol and is so frank and honest and blunt in all of her insight that you just feel washed of your own irritation at the idiots that confound our lives.

Most adults have lost the art of creativity and play. We feel guilty, but most innovation comes out of the act of playing and being creative.

To be able to see the world as others see it—This requires putting your own "stuff" aside to see the situation through your loved one's eyes.

To be nonjudgmental—Judgement of another person's situation discounts the experience and is an attempt to protect ourselves from the pain of the situation.

To understand another person’s feelings—We have to be in touch with our own feelings in order to understand someone else's. Again, this requires putting your own "stuff" aside to focus on your loved one.

To communicate your understanding of that person’s feelings—Rather than saying, "At least you..." or "It could be worse..." try, "I've been there, and that really hurts," or (to quote an example from Brown) "It sounds like you are in a hard place now. Tell me more about it.”

journeyofnow People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child - our own two eyes. All is a miracle. ~Thich Nhat Hanh

Life is really amazing once you stop and think about. We have one chance to exist, to live, to love, and to leave your mark in the minds of others. At any moment, it can call be taken away in a flash. Often times, if something is troubling me. One of the things, I like to say in my mind. This has happened, I reorganize that this moment is bothering me, can I do something, if no.... I say I release these thoughts and let go of this energy. In the grand scheme of my life I will not hold onto that energy. I go on to think about the many people that are sick and have passed and away and realize my time is short. It helps put things into perspective.

Happy Saturday

journeyofnow We can only love others as much as we love ourselves. If you're not happy in the inside, no external force or activity can lead to lasting happiness it is a false mask. If you don't love yourself, how is it even possible to really love another person. It only leads to pain.

I do believe that you have to date yourself. Practice self-love and acceptance. To look in the mirror and to say I love and accept who I am. I am good enough, I am beautiful, I am amazing. You have to be a little silly, play, smile, and don't be so serious. When you hear that negative self-talk, say that is not who I am, I will not internalize that conversation and make it a part of me.

Just like a relationship it takes daily practice. Over time, you will love yourself more.

I for one sometimes get caught up in that negative chatter, but great progress is being made.
Happy Monday.

journeyofnow Starting in January, I joined a contest to see who could have the biggest change in their percentage of body fat. I was up against some stiff competition. Well, yesterday I WON, I made 6.4% change in body fat. Depending on what scale you use, I'm down to my mid teens. The two biggest attributes to my success were meal preparation, and consistently exercising.
Here is a picture of me when I first started down the road on June 27, 2014. I wanted to be in the best shape of my life for my birthday, and I blew that goal away.
So if you been wondering why I've not been very active, well now you know. If you have any questions im totally open to answering your questions.
I'll probably delete this image in a few days.

journeyofnow I've been in beast mode since January for my contest. I'm super excited that I've already hit my goal of being in the bast shape of my life before my birthday.

I have been hyper focused since June last year but went to a whole new level in January, which has left me very little time to go shoot. Yesterday day looked something like this.

Wake up 6:30 take my wife car in.Then from the store I biked to the gym. I train legs, chest, abs with no rest between sets. Right after I was done I rode my bike home from the gym ( 8 miles ). I then do basketball drills with my son. For good measure I then do body weight exercise. I put my son on shoulders (70 pounds) and I do full jump squats, and mix in some push ups, with one son, then older son who is around 90 pounds. Later in the evening I get another bike ride in.

During Monday - Friday it's not as intense. I'll work out 1 - 2 times a day. I also mix in kick boxing and boxing, which is intense but fun.

Once the contest is over next week, I plan on slowing down just a little . Start doing more sunrises by the beach again, kayaking.

Hope everyone is well, what new developments have been going on in your world, tell me.

journeyofnow Something about friendship that transcends all time and space. You know that good friend, where you may not speak to each other for a while, but you can pick up that friendship right away like no time has passed at all.
Today I'm beyond thankful for my friends.

Happy Saturday!

journeyofnow What a strange sunset today. I got out of my boxing class and started to head home. I saw this intense fire red in the sky. thay dipped below the rain filled clouds. I thought, I only have a few mins left until sunset is over I need to find a good vantage point. Well this was the best that I could find in such short notice. This picture does not do it justice. 2mon

  •   journeyofnow @vero_pic I sure did. Loving it! Gosh I forgot how hard it is to take macros. I took around 100 shots. This and one other shot were the only ones I like. So hard to get it super sharp. 3mon
  •   vero_pic Definitely hard to get the sharp snap, as I like to call it. But, once you have an image, one that you know you nailed, it just stands out. This one, my friend, your truly nailed. Absolutely breathtaking! 3mon

journeyofnow Anything worthwhile starts off with a first step. It may be difficult at first, it may just seem impossible. Just focus on one small step at a time, nothing less nothing more. Put all thoughts of the end result, any fears and doubts to the side. Just think about and "do" one small step at a time. Once you arrive you will one day look back and think wow I did, I made it. I'm ready for my next impossible task.
It's strange, how making those little steps works, all of a sudden it just continues to build to the point nothing will stop you, just the only thing that is holding you back is your own limiting thoughts.

Happy Sunday

journeyofnow For many of us, water simply flows from a faucet, and we think little about it beyond this point of contact. We have lost a sense of respect for the wild river, for the complex workings of a wetland, for the intricate web of life that water supports. - Sandra Postel 3mon

journeyofnow I must make it through to the other side. 3mon
  •   journeyofnow @lifeanddogs @stephinthecityyy @j.osh thanks Michael for your thoughtful point of view. I agree Steph perception is totally ones own reality. It's when we look for what other people tell we should be, or tell us what goals we should be is when problems arise. I set goals for "myself" and work hard to making them happen. If I don't hit my goal, I no longer beat myself up. I know I tried my best and enjoy the journey along the way. My goal is one of self realization and happiness, but more importantly it's not the end but the journey towards ones destination. 3mon

journeyofnow No single decision you ever made has led in a straight line to where you find yourself now. You peeked down some roads and took a few steps before turning back. You followed some roads that came to a dead end and others that got lost at too many intersections. Ultimately, all roads are connected to all other roads. ~ Deepak 3mon
