jillfoster Many little seasonal charms pop up in #dc today. It's rainy out, making the city's design an even gray. The alleyways though cradle the light despite the monotone dampness. Great morning with Sean. 2w

jillfoster Historic lobby at the Willard is all decked out. The enchantment of this place magically stirs the #holiday glow of everything nearby. 3w

jillfoster Moody trees & sky...both seem hungry for some sun. Or maybe I'm projecting an inner craving! 3w

jillfoster View at the office: ...when starting this new job at this church a few months ago, the new-kid learning curve would distract my focus. I'd forget the historical beauty pulsating everywhere. This #stainedglass window invites a long look. 3mon

jillfoster This new building (across from St. Matthew's) is still undergoing construction. The glass was installed more recently & adds an awesome lean-in quality to the northeast edge. 6mon

jillfoster Getting happily swallowed up by neoclassical pillars downtown. The height and shadow of these Doric columns evoke a little mystique in this patio space. Nothing like it up close. #dc #architecture #archilovers 6mon
  •   asktinu Can't hear but love the visuals. 6mon
  •   jillfoster Hi there @davidtarragona thank you! Hope things are doing great on your end. 6mon
  •   jillfoster Hey good sir @jimtny ! Thanks for sharing your energized spirit (& sharing the pillar love!). 6mon
  •   jillfoster Hey mon cheri @asktinu ! Thanks a lot. Sometimes IG suppresses audio if the clip doesn't scroll down far enough in the feed. Irregardless, can't you read my lips & thoughts?? 6mon
  •   lisagerber I CAN, and I loved them - your thoughts, your lips, your wonderful smile. :) 6mon
  •   asktinu Oh no, it's definitely on my side. I just meant that's why I'm not responding to what was said- I couldn't hear. 6mon
  •   jillfoster I see @asktinu ! 6mon
  •   jillfoster Lisa thank you for your positivity! (@lisagerber) 6mon

jillfoster It's been a week of hyper-procrastination. My ego tried real hard to excuse it due to a chest cold or cherry blossom euphoria. But alas, it's just good ole evasion. After this walk is done aka last glimmer of procrastinating..., it's time to get 'er done! 8mon

jillfoster This tunneled portico at the Reagan building is an unexpected trigger for evoking magic. I'm not sure how. But over the years, it has had increasing control over my mind...a friendly type of influence that says "Unicorns and flying puppies await at the end." 9mon

jillfoster Sometimes it's a challenge seeing (& choosing) which story to build upon in life. That thought seems more existential & funky with it typed out now. But it's the guiding question in my head on this International Women's Day. My precious mother comes to mind, when she says: "Just quiet yourself & look around.....clarity comes next." 10mon

jillfoster Twist ...... Have you ever been in a brain fog and then started staring at things to re-focus (and hopefully snap out of it!)? Observing this place was like that climb-out-of-the-brain-fog moment. Then for a quick second, this archway looked like it was twisting between light and dark....surprising psychedelic fun! 11mon

Rise Jill Foster
jillfoster Confronting rain (and this new year) -- The last thoughts when hitting the bed yesterday were of an early photo walk this morning downtown. Yikes! I forgot to check the weather; so a hefty down pour of rain has had the last laugh this morn. A few recent photos came to mind to play with. It is this type of playful redirection that I hunger for in this new year - more tending to what's possible vs regretting what is not. Hope you're doing well. 11mon

jillfoster Clouds and cops ...... A DC police officer stopped and approached during this photo. My heart squeezed a little, concerned that a line had been crossed. The officer asked the purpose of this visit, and I said "Just observing this building en route to coffee." He smiled and strolled away. 12mon

jillfoster This building and gray sky today are like a well-timed dose of aspirin, providing mental relief to see surroundings in black, white, and simple terms. 1y

  •   cralmeida62 Certainly, they might. It is like they have a soul. Human figures were used as columns. This might be an indicator...Another dramatic photo that I like, Jill. It appears to me that you shoot in a geometric order. I like it! @jillfoster 12mon
  •   jillfoster Carlos - What a fantastic way to assess pillars re: akin to having souls @cralmeida62. I appreciate your uplifting thought! Celebrating geometry is contagious; thanks for sharing in that. 12mon
  •   jillfoster P.S. Your comment @cralmeida62 about human figures used as columns provoked some déjà vu. Then good ole Vitruvius came back to mind! Weren't the Karyatids a model for the columns since they were defeated in war? Interesting, interesting! My husband and I are looking up the story again now to firm up our memories. Thanks again for talking and sharing your insight. Have a good week. 12mon
  •   cralmeida62 @jillfoster Indeed, very interesting, Jill. I'm very pleased you like architecture (from the vocabulary you have employed)! Also, your photos reflect that inclination. You too have a great week and thank you for your great interaction! 12mon
