jenbennett @edencliff knitted me these beautiful socks and sent me a glorious Ronald Searle card featuring a cat riding an ostrich in Egypt. She is a princess 1w

  •   jenbennett @srpeatling God you nearly gave me a heart attack, I had to go check. After the Faraway Tree Name Controversy and the Hello Kitty scandal I don't think I can trust anyone any more. 2w
  •   srpeatling Bloody post modernism @jenbennett it's screwing with all of us. 2w
  •   seh_mc That is actually a very practical purchase. 2w

jenbennett I lived here. When it rained, frogs hopped across the patio. If you left the front gate open for too long, the neighborhood goats would get in. There was an enormous gecko that lived in the roof. 2w

jenbennett Dear @swamp_ophelia and @edencliff: the good news is I understand cables! The bad news is I had to put a double rib scarf away because it was making me so cross. 1mon
  •   jenbennett @edencliff Yes I have a range. The straight ones look like a recipe for disaster though? Like they would slip out? 1mon
  •   edencliff I just learnt how to cable without a cable needle!! It's scary as you take the stitches clean off the needles temporarily to twist them. But it's much less fiddly. 1mon
  •   swamp_ophelia Great work Jen! Cables are fun. The straight ones are fine if they're a good match to the yarn. Ie not too small. I like wooden ones as they're lighter and a bit sticky so they feel more secure. 1mon
  •   jenbennett @swamp_ophelia this reminds me, do you have a preferred online retailer of knitting gear? 1mon
  •   swamp_ophelia @jenbennett tangled yarns in Brisbane or @suzyhausfrau locally. 1mon
  •   seh_mc This looks very impressive! 1mon
  •   jenbennett @seh_mc Thank you - it's quite easy once you get going! 1mon

  •   empatts That is out the other side of irritating 2mon
  •   jenbennett @empatts The local fuzz have also killed two succulents (one of which took ages because they would take a test bite, decide they didn't like it, would come back a few nights later, take another test bite...) and a basil plant. I have replanted these two but I doubt they'll make it. There's a pot of tulip bulbs next to them, and I'm taking protection tips. 2mon
  •   swamp_ophelia Arseholes 2mon
  •   empatts This shot reminds me of the scene in Tulip Fever when drunk, a dippy protag eats a highly coveted exy bulb 2mon
