jazzymcbee Had a great time speaking at my alma mater Clayton State University.A packed room with students awaiting my arrival & eager to learn about lil ole' me & my career journey.Afterwards, so many students told me I inspired them to not give up on school.I stayed an extra hour & 1/2 speaking to some individually.Regardless of how many schools I visit, they inspire me every time.Such a humbling experience & I thank God for it

  •   iaptv @tgrbayb4lyf no, instead they were so bad at being teachers that they solidified their student to be stuck as an unskilled permanent underclass. How do not think that is harming a child? 4d
  •   tgrbayb4lyf @iaptv I was referring to physical, mental, and emotional harm. 20 years is too harsh. Yes to loss of certificate, barred from ever teaching again, financial retribution, and public shaming. They have served jailtime. And as an educator myself, I do not condone what they did. However, there are teachers who do a lot worse - physical, mental, and emotional harm - that lasts a lifetime. An effective teacher can overcome gaps in education by meeting the needs of all students and providing individualized instruction. You can't undo molestation, drug addiction, physical scarring, and emotional dysfunction caused by an adult whose has taken the pledge to educate and protect you. These folks get little to no time. I have seen it happen and it is becoming more prevalent. 4d
  •   tookute27 I think the sentence fits the crime...as educators its wasc there responsibility to teach n prepare these children for society...to knowingly pass these kids from grade to grade for their own selfish gain is a detriment to society...these are the same misguided under educated individuals that go around breaking in houses n robbing people because they have no self esteem or feel any self worth that makes them want to go after their dreams. So instead they feel the world owes them and in their mind its okay to take it. 4d
  •   j79white I think the time is harsh....however, the judge did inform them that if they were found guilty that the punishment would be harsh. Being given a second chance to take a plea seems like the obvious choice but you never know what can take place during an appeal, maybe they have something we don't know about. I think i would've taken the plea, just to move on. 4d
  •   jazzymcbee Appreciate your comments! 4d
  •   ibbuutiful I think they should've taken the plea deal. I also feel that 7yrs is excessive. I don't get how some people feel that the kids were unharmed. This scandal has been going far much longer than they actually investigated. I know several adults older than me, from APS who were obviously just passed along through graduation. My parents weren't the brightest or best but quality of teaching I received in Dekalb County was much better than that of my peers in APS. I'm sure several factors played into that but cheating was not the answer. Those kids needed that education & a lot of 30+ yr olds are suffering because of this. 4d
  •   secret_agent_savage If the end result is still the fact that they can never teach again then they might have been dumb for not taking the plea deal. Pride is a hell of a thing if that's what kept them from making a deal. I haven't kept up with it but I know I'm not bout that prison life. I need to spend the last amount of time in there as possible. That's my selfish opinion. On another note people get less time for selling drugs, robbery, and assault... 4d
  •   kingbeef81 They stupid. They should have to the first plea before it got this far. Then they turned down a second. I don't feel sorry although i think it's too harsh of a sentence 4d
