jackieshadows While waiting for some folks to view the space I was practicing getting over my fears of handstand. Crazy to think last week my wrist/forearms were in so much pain it hurt to twist a bottle cap, door knob and event pull my pants up! (the everyday things) Taking it easy helped me recover but now I'm being adventurous again... Time to ice my wrists. Just gotta be more mindful and know when to stop. Time to go rock climbing and practice tricking again! 2w

jackieshadows Since playing with the #trickers this weekend, my hips are feeling way more open. Open enough to do #mermaidpose for the first time. But man, are my thighs and glutes sore....like so sore! haha 1mon

jackieshadows Uh oh, I think showing my boyfriend this photo of @tiffanycruikshank in a no hand headstand got him too excited about his headstands. Let's just work on basics first. ;) 1mon

jackieshadows Very excited about playing with forearm stand this way! Doing an L-shape handstand against a wall is something I learned from Faith Hunter.
Rob Beilfus reinforced the L-stand in a class and explained my hands need to be the distance my feet would be if lied with my back against the wall and my legs extended on the floor. I used to have my hands and torso too far out and slip down the wall.
I took a class with Julia McSheffery at Balanced Yoga in Ohio, and she had us play with a forearm stand with feet against the wall in the L-shape. Something I never even thought to do with the L... only ever thought of handstand, which my wrists are not a fan of. She also reinforced the leg/torso distance from the wall. She helped me get my shoulders in the right place and told me to push my lower back into her palm in class. It was exciting to play with forearm stand in a new way. It's so special taking class with new teachers, their lessons build and shed unique light in my practice.
This L-shape inversion play feels safe for me and allows me to explore the feeling of being inverted without the tricky balance/fear holding me back. I can just work on my alignment in a way that works for me. #embraceyourflow

jackieshadows A few weeks ago when I was all excited and playing with #birdofparadise for the first few times. I'm not as flexible but more mindful after my shoulder, lower back, and knee were aching this last month.... (accidents and not so mindful at the gym). Not trying to push the #asana too much, although it's fun at times. ;) 2mon
