ivanafreeya We can still view this image until today especially in our provinces. No gadgets for children. They play traditional Filipino games like patintero and luksong-tinik while their Nanay/Mama/Inay/Mamang are watching them. When we had the white water rafting, we passed by some kids bathe in the river naked. Ooopps! But they don't care. Their mothers were with them, doing their own thing.. washing clothes. The laughter was infectious. Beautiful sight!
I'm a baby of the '80s and I can well relate to these except the bathing in the river naked.. 😀 Climbing of trees, siatong, the slipper game and who will forget takyan using tingga or softdrink bottle caps and candy wrappers? Not I, because that was a challenge for me. Arrgh!
Overall, being able to connect with nature and playing games with other kids less the gadgets contribute to the overall well-being of the growing children. They learn to be sociable, competitive, resilient and confident.

ivanafreeya A team will never be successful if the members don't have one goal. We always hear this in our workplace. I had the chance to do White Water Rafting in my recent trip to Davao. The thought of being able to survive the strongest current of Davao River is a big win and we did!
When we're gearing towards the end, our raft almost capsized. Paddling for about three minutes while being washed by the strong current was a disaster. The people in the raft never gave up. No one said that we can never make it. One paddle was washed out and made on paddler helpless. Our guide instructed us to move to the rear of the raft and all followed that instruction without hesitation. With that, we made strong paddles away from the collapsed bridge with lots of steel bars.
When we were already safe, I told my team mates that a team will surely fail if they don't have focus and if they don't have the same objective.
An experience that I will forever treasure. Thanks, God for keeping all of us safe!

ivanafreeya 1942-Japanese Occupation in the Philippines

This 150 mtr. Japanese Tunnel was discovered in 1967. Some areas already collapsed. However, we were able to get a feel of the Japanese occupation in the country. The small cell that can fit six Filipino prisoners, the office of the general, the prayer room and the armory room are still intact. There's a deep well inside the tunnel too.
