isachandra Steamed broc & kale, brown rice, tahini, Sriracha and tempeh that I sautéed in the most 90s way possible: tamari, nooch and evoo. So simple and comforting. #veganfoodshare 2h

isachandra The question on everyone's mind: is it ripe yet? 3w
  •   kimberly.raz It's a watermelon, people! 3w
  •   julianal__ Whoa. I can't wait to see that thing sliced open. Let me know. 3w
  •   salitabacchi Wow! 3w
  •   itmeanzmustard that wasn't the question on my mind, but sure, that too. 3w
  •   kdub484 So how DO you know if it's ripe other than cutting it?! We have a bunch in the garden, but I'm afraid! 3w
  •   betsybeans @kdub484 look for the yellow spot on the bottom, if it has a nice pale underbelly, it's good to go! 3w
  •   totaljohn I guess that's the safest spot Batman could find 3w
  •   kdub484 Thanks, @betsybeans 3w

isachandra MySpace selfie after completing a manuscript deadline then spending all night baking and ice creaming for the restaurant. Don't ever open a restaurant if you aren't a millionaire and want to have friends, see movies or sleep ever again. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. 4w

  •   shootsandtendrils So lovely 1mon
  •   kailslizzy Love the colours! If anyone has read her latest book, can you tell me if you'd recommend it to someone who is a) new to vegan cooking b) on a tight budget? thanks! 1mon
  •   kekicookoys @kailslizzy yes! I recommend it. Isa provides good directions, there are few if any ingredients you will have trouble finding in a typical grocery store, and all the recipes I have tried thusfar are delicious! 1mon
  •   marymorganxo @kailslizzy I have all of her books and I have to say...that they are ALL amazing. All pretty easy to make and majority of stuff can be found in a typical grocery. The rest at a health food store or online. & I'm not swimming in $$ and I can do it I always recommend @isachandra or @govegandotnet for anyone new to veganism or vegan cooking or anyone really! They are the best!!! 4w
  •   veganworldtrekker123 Gorgeous colors! 2w

isachandra Tomatillos. Something I never would have guessed if I didn't grow them: the husk comes first, and the fruit grows into it. 1mon
  •   initsfangsvv mmmm tomatillo soup! 1mon
  •   crazygemini12 They have them at the farmer's market with husks on sometimes, otherwise I wouldn't know it, either. That semester of botany was apparently a giant waste :) 1mon
  •   killertofu_duh The best!!! I grew up eating a TON of chile made out of tomatillo!! Great over tofu or just with tortilla chips!! My grandmother would make big batches of chile to can it & give to people or store it. The tomatillos freeze well too so if you find yourself overwhelmed by them all of a sudden, give some away & freeze some too!! 1mon
  •   heathergeebee I didn't know that! Cool! 1mon
  •   nutmegnotebook Wow! I didn't know that 1mon
  •   shootsandtendrils My favorite!!! 1mon
  •   matthewshur I wish tomatoes grew the same way. My black krim and hillbilly tomatoes have been ravaged by squirrels and insects :( 1mon
  •   royelam @isachandra are you growing for @modernloveomaha? 1mon
