inthelightofthesun Thanks for trashing the house boys so I could almost make two pot holders anyone remember that episode of the office (American) when someone gets a pot holder in the office Kris Kringle? these @umbrellaprints trimmings are headed to my mamas kitchen, she won't mind it's not an iPod. 20h

inthelightofthesun This is me. Cider in one hand, phone taking rubbish photos in the other. Waiting for Sufjan to start singing at the Opera House. He was glorious. And not just because he acknowledged how amazing mothers are. Thanks though matey, appreciate it. Also appreciate my amazing mum who happily cared for the boys, despite Wolf's recent bugs, and put up with Tt's crazy screaming bedtime meltdown madness for over an hour you're a saint mum! And of course my amazing brother who bought us the tickets in the first place. Cheers hermano! Feeling ever so grateful for this night off. Ever. So. Grateful 1d
  •   nams32 Woohoo!!! Glad you enjoyed the night... Everyone has been raving about Sufjan! Xxx 1d
  •   augieboy We must share the same playlist @inthelightofthesun although I couldn't get there last night ah sufjan xxx 1d
  •   twothirdssky Fantastic! Music and that view. I was just thinking about Sydney .... all the places and houses I lived in and partied in. Days and night growing up and loving and laughing right there;) thanks for sharing your evening, I feel good for you and a little homesick and lonely for that lively, engaged, ridiculously irresponsible person I once was .... Xxxx 1d
  •   wovenspirit Sooo good, especially after a rough few days! Yeah, Clarence and I haven't had a night off or out just us two since Anaru arrived... so over 3 years?! Lots of family near by, but that's a double edged sword - over 10 grandchildren means my parents get relied on a lot... they have grandparent fatigue hope the boys are better today x 24h
  •   bronman Oh yay, you got there! Sweet sweet reprieve! Xx 21h
  •   metaemotions Fantastic much deserved. You do it so hard. 19h
  •   dekchair As I told my best friend, who also attended: "I HATE YOU!!!!" 18h
  •   dekchair Not really though. 18h

inthelightofthesun This guy is challenging me hardcore right now. He'll be 2 in a few weeks. I thought I struggled with Wolf as a two year old because I was pregnant but I suspect it doesn't matter either way, from what I've experienced so far. Stuck in a 'will life ever feel not so overwhelming, exhausting and relentless again?!' headspace right now. I have no idea how you parents with more than two manage it all. 2d
  •   micahcaverley I relate to this as well. I live in survival mode too. Unfortunately I haven't found time for myself or my husband outside of being Mumma. To step outside of the home and breath in some space of my own would be good medicine but easier said than done. This instaworld brings us together in solidarity and Im pretty sure we all find strength in sharing honestly about life. Wish we could all go and have a haircut and a coffee together. Big love to you @inthelightofthesun x 2d
  •   bronman Awww @inthelightofthesun you are my mama-hero! I say that cos, fuck me, it's so validating knowing other mamas reach survival mode target than constantly depicting this facade of ease. It's gonna pass. And yep, just get through today. And coffee and chocolate are awesome crutches xx 2d
  •   bronman *rather not target 2d
  •   addisonreese 2d
  •   inthelightofthesun @go_jojo big hugs it's so hard isn't it?! It's exhausting in every way trying to keep up with those demands. I hope you get a little moment to yourself soon Xox 1d
  •   inthelightofthesun @micahcaverley thank you lovely! And I think/hope you are right, there is a lot of mental support shared here on IG for those honest about their life. A haircut and a coffee together sounds brilliant! I hope you find a moment to take a deep breath soon, can't hold your breath forever right? Xo 1d
  •   inthelightofthesun @bronman thanks gorgeous!! I often worry I sound ungrateful or spoilt when I grumble here or that people will think I'm a negative person and only remember the negative vibes I release and not remember the positive ones but FARK it this gig is too hard, too hard for me not to be real and open about it, in the hope I can get better at it every day. Tell you what mad skills I do have? Taking two boys to the supermarket, hiding chocolate in the trolley, paying for it without them noticing and even eating some in the car on the way home. patting myself on the back there!! Xo 1d
  •   bronman @inthelightofthesun mum level = ninja! 21h

inthelightofthesun Pale lil matey succumbed to a snooze. His eyes look sick even when sleeping I'm pretty happy about the break in endless Paw Patrol viewings though. Silver linings! 3d

inthelightofthesun Sorry about your birthday Daddio, cancelled due to high temps and vomit Will this necklace make up for the fact we can't even go to the pub for dinner? We haven't made you a cake and we couldn't even get you a beer because we haven't been able to leave the house. Now you've finished work perhaps you could take yourself to the pub?! 3d
  •   lexclare Oh no! Hope you all get better super fast! 3d
  •   inthelightofthesun My brother bought us tickets to see Sufjan Stevens at the opera house tomorrow night and I haven't been out for aaaaaaaages so I'm really reallllllly reallllllllllly hoping this virus leaves swiftly and takes no more victims 3d
  •   lexclare Ooooo Sufjan Stevens!!! I will rub Hugo's belly for get well vibes luck (he's kinda Buddha like)! Really hope you're well enough to go, you deserve a night of delightfully beautiful music! 3d
  •   alissapat Bugger. Should've sent him to the park with us. We had lots of beers. 3d
  •   alissapat Just to be clear, I wasnt drinking beer 3d
  •   inthelightofthesun Sorry got sidetracked by life @alissapat totally not judging if you had a beer gorgeous! I had a glass a month I reckon. Also ate sushi and smoked salmon and feta too. I was an irresponsible selfish parent even before he was born! 3d
  •   alissapat Not a beer drinkee but may have snuck in a cider if one was there. Was a good day for it. @inthelightofthesun. I've also had pepperoni on a pizza. Ah well. Your boys survived!! 3d

inthelightofthesun @shell_mcclure I'm so sleepy after a morning at the aquarium I've put the tv on for the big guy and I'm gonna lay in the sun here and 'rest' with the little one. To the dulcet tones of Batman 4d
  •   lexclare Perfect light. 🏻 4d
  •   inthelightofthesun @shell_mcclure Tt is great, when pantless he does it all in the potty, no accidents. Undies - wees in them in a flash I'm waiting til warmer weather and he's a bit older and more able to pull down his pants himself before using undies full time though! 4d
  •   inthelightofthesun @fromlittlethings thanks Mel ️ I do too! I'm such a sun light junkie, any time of day! 4d
  •   myrtles My hubbie gone away with third child at sparrow fart hour this morning. House so calm I even was woken up after lunch with "mum you're spoiling your coffee. A nanna nap. Omg. Nodded off while having a cuppa in the lounge chair. 4d
  •   myrtles *spilliing. Not spoiling..... 4d
  •   inthelightofthesun @myrtles awesome!! The nana nap might work better than the coffee anyway. Although I wouldn't say no to both 4d
  •   isabelinsyd Nice quilt :) 4d

inthelightofthesun It's a mending miracle! You're looking at four pairs of jeans with new improved and repaired pockets for the birthday boy. Bless him for saying that's all he wanted for his birthday. #umbrellaprints make do and mend with style folks! 5d
  •   ladymmoss Awesomeness!!! 5d
  •   inthelightofthesun He probably thought it would be a really easy task for me, that would take no time at all. Instead it turned out a bit like that time I asked him to put up a shelf and it took all day and wasn't quite straight @ladymmoss 5d
  •   ladymmoss Baha happens all the time! The simplest things are the worst right!!!! 5d
  •   umbrellaprints Make do and mend like! 5d
  •   gen_1982 Happy birthday (for yday) tom! 4d
  •   gen_1982 I initially had 'for the 24th' in the brackets up there but I changed it in my sleepy state! Not sure why? Either way, could you tell Tom HB for us on the correct day?!! Ta dorals 😬 4d

inthelightofthesun Birthday prep for my number 1 guy. You know it's love when you iron shirts for them I considered leaving them crumpled from the wash, as that's how they'll look in reality but that's not very birthday special is it?! Also, my local op shop is appallingly expensive 5d
  •   go_jojo Love that top shirt! Gorgeous 5d

  •   alfalky thank you sweetheart! 5d
  •   lexclare She's so inspiring! 5d
  •   lexclare @alfalky would love to go to one of your coiling with crochet classes but will have to hold out for a while until bubs is a bit bigger! The moment he's not feeding every 5 seconds I'm going to be speeding towards one of your workshops! 5d

  •   inthelightofthesun @future_mrs._larson lots! He was certainly enjoying himself! 6d
  •   inthelightofthesun @dearolive preschool - so hard to drag him away from all the fun, poor matey. 6d
  •   inthelightofthesun @ellenbulger I don't think she'd approve of how he was marching them into the pens 6d
  •   shell_mcclure The mat it looks like a recycled plastic one, I think I need one! The farm is awesome and that is a big stacks on happening there! 6d
  •   dekchair Awesome rustler! 6d
  •   bronman Love Tt's hair! Do his curls turn into dreads if you don't brush it? That's what happened to Odin. I'm determined to have long hair on him that doesn't end in being shaved off due to dreads. 6d
  •   onesheeptown So excellent!!!! 6d

inthelightofthesun One of our fav scooting spots. Love this area (except for the locals ) 7d
  •   lexclare Wow! Where is this? I really need to get to know Sydney better. 7d
  •   studiolittlerock Bahaha 7d
  •   anniejamo Scooting on grass? Or is there a nice pathway? 7d
  •   dekchair 7d
  •   inthelightofthesun @lexclare we're in the east. This is Macquarie lighthouse, on Old South head rd, Vaucluse. So beautiful the green grass next to the blue ocean and loads of gorgeous sky and pretty great views of the city and harbour bridge too! 7d
  •   inthelightofthesun @anniejamo the path runs along the cliff (there's fence!) but the boys are obsessed with the lighthouse. Had to stay til the light came on, not hard at this time of year though. 7d
  •   inthelightofthesun @studiolittlerock popped in to Coles in Vaucluse/rose bay too and it was brutal in there we did a shop at woolies in double bay last week and I swear I could see the loathing shimmering off the other customers as we raced around with the boys... 7d
  •   lexclare @inthelightofthesun we may have to venture over that way for a day trip at some point! Looks lovely! 7d

inthelightofthesun I traipsed through every shoe store from London to Edinburgh to find the perfect pair of Docs. The ones that seemed the coolest, the most out there, the ones that seemed the least like the old me. My mum was so patient and so encouraging. That was almost 20 years ago. I never imagined they'd be accompanying me, along with two small boys I made myself, to a train museum for an epic day of solo parenting. But I knew it was something my mum would do with pleasure, for us kids. So I marched on with my Docs on and they were quite uncomfortable truth be told, heavy and constrictive, a bit like the burden of responsibility felt when looking after fast, excitable and easily distracted children in a large crowd when your arms are full carrying all the bags and lunch boxes and water bottles and spare clothes. But we survived the adventure. The new me really can be the least like the old me after all. Thanks for encouraging me mum and for being so patient. 1w

  •   metaemotions *awesome Sorry have stress brain 1w
  •   littlepapaya I babysat for three days straight, three crazy kids, I was 14 and it meant buying my first pair of cherry docs ;) x 1w
  •   inthelightofthesun @metaemotions it's okay!! I totally understand! And agree entirely! 1w
  •   inthelightofthesun @eastridg I think you and skipper should take the boys next time it's fantastic fun! 1w
  •   inthelightofthesun @littlepapaya oh man you earned yours, big time! And wish I'd chosen that colour. I hate this colour!! I always did! No idea why I went with electric blue. I wanted floral I think, but wasn't bold enough to be true to myself. Silly 14 year old! 1w
  •   littleearthstories Go Mama! I found my old docs the other day. Such memories. xx 1w
