imarkrige We found this small snake at the entrance to our apartment building in Vredehoek today. Somehow it managed to slither by undetected by all the local cats, so @tamara_jayd and I caught it in a bucket and released it near the quarry – out of harm's way. 4d

imarkrige Dorsal and ventral view of a large Bark Spider (caerostris sexcuspidata) in it's orb web. Normally bark spiders construct their webs at dusk and remove them again at dawn, however in forested habitats this species hangs around during day time too. Diepwalle, Garden Route National Park. #latergram 2w
  •   imarkrige @sambase Thank you, thats very kind of you to say! We went to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition yesterday and just confirmed how much we still have to learn… I do think there's a lot of luck involved too, but as they say, "luck is when preparation meets opportunity" 😀 2w
  •   sambase @imarkrige was highly disappointed by the exhibition - how images were displayed and the amount of images. Much better in the uk. And the photography hasn't been as good in the last year or two. 2w
  •   imarkrige @sambase That's a pity. We haven't visited the previous ones, so couldn't compare. What did bother me though was the use of bait and other controversial techniques as well as heavy editing on some pictures… 2w
  •   sambase @imarkrige definitely agree with you on that 2w

  •   itstiaan Your pics are always such a tease, I can't wait for my next SA visit. 3w
  •   imarkrige @itstiaan do you have anything planned? 3w
  •   itstiaan @imarkrige Unfortunately, no. I've got a lot of projects with a new business I've joined, so my chances of taking a lot of time off are slim. I'll let you know when this changes though. 3w
  •   imarkrige @itstiaan New job? Sounds positive, I'd like to hear more about it. 3w
