ibnjasper This Sonny Veccaro "30 for 30" is really good. The Godfather of Sneakers and Basketball took the NCAA to court to demand that Colleges pay their Division 1 athletes, and he won the case!!! But, of course the NCAA is appealing the case... 🏾 When I went to that Kentucky/ Florida game I was definitely struck by how much money those kids on the team were generating for that whole town, let alone the school. I thought to myself that these kids should definitely be getting compensated somehow ... 1w
  •   nikefiend They are being compensated, free education. Quit the one and done bullshit, get your fucking degree, and then go pro. It's amazing how every one pisses and moans about the watered down NBA talent, and compensation. Players in the 80's and 90's set a precedent for college success and professional success. And now kids go a year and take the money, just to fuck it up because they can't hang. How about put you'r work in and grow as a player, then get paid? Or pay them they sign 4 year contracts and have to pay full tuition. Sound fair right. 1w
  •   ibnjasper Nah... What this case is about is the DIVISION 1 players name and likeness ... TV compensation for the major programs that generate big money. Jerseys with their name on them. Video games with their name and face on them. Guaranteed scholarships and medical coverage. When I was in Kentucky at the game it was like they treated those kids like race horses, that are also another huge commodity in Kentucky. Like "Yea great, you win the race. We made so much money. Here's a bucket of apples." It was a really different type of experience. Let's not forget that the big name players are actually going to college to become Professional Athletes, not anything else. That is why they are recruited so earnestly, to make the school's sports program successful. They should be compensated which is actually educating them about their profession. Some of these players would actually stay in college longer to become better because they wouldn't have to make the choice between school and providing for their families. You do know that most of these kids and their families that get these scholarships are not in a good place financially and can't even afford living expenses ? @nikefiend 1w
  •   ibnjasper And don't forget that the NCAA lost the case and were told that the cannot prevent colleges from paying players @nikefiend 1w
  •   thechill23 @ibnjasper all I see is facts in your statements man! 1w
  •   ibnjasper Skaters can be pro in high school. Shit, Nyjah was pro when he was 9yrs old and getting checks because his products were selling... That's what fair is @nikefiend 1w

  •   nikefiend Ok, I get it UK sells out every game, makes millions off them. Im in for letting them sell their name or sign Jerseys, have sponsorships, and things of that nature. However people pay big money to go to school. Upwards of 80 to 100 grand for four years. Thats a factor. If they want to get paid by the university, then its fair to have contracts. Four years, tuition and board not included, and grade point averages kept at a certain level. At one point in time this tool was an amazing gift for young men, and women to launch careers with. It is not entirely the NCAA's fault it fell apart. Kids don't go to learn anymore. Hell they don't have the grades to get in. Carry your own weight. Use the tools around you, to better your life. Or go you'r year, take you'r 100 - 200g's and enjoy you'r 5 team 4 year career. @ibnjasper 1w
