hobbes2485 I have a Christmas routine that I choose not to break. It involves the following: 1. Wearing my Christmas best (see above). 2. Trying to figure out what's open to get coffee (which gas station I'm limited to). 3. Always remembering to buy Totino pizza rolls at said gas station (because I keep no food in my fridge) for post Christmas night. 4. Take a walk in the park. 5. Be with family. 6. Drink too much of great Aunt Edina's "secret eggnog". 7. Burn the roof of my mouth on the pizza rolls.

And I love every moment. Each and every minute with loved ones and doing what I love is better than anything I have or will ever unwrap. Merry Christmas to all. Especially those who I've had the privilege of personally meeting. May you have the best day ever, with the things you love; with those whom you love.

hobbes2485 I call this (I really enjoy saying I call this) : The Undernourished bikini model with unshaven winter legs; between the curtain.
Today was so nice outside. I mean, let's be honest- it's the brown and grey months of Ohio but that temperature combined with the start of a good stretch of finally getting some free time, made today very enjoyable. I even found some cool looking wild mushrooms but now my "tummy" hurts. Stay away freezing temps.

hobbes2485 - Once, there was a boy.

He found this amazing group of trees and would walk beneath, amongst and through them weekly. He laid upon his back and even climbed the mighty pines. Through winter and summer, he enjoyed this place that made him feel at home. Until one day, he took out his phone and took a photo. And another and another and another until his "feed" was flooded with sights he no longer could just keep in his mind. Gradually and over time, this wasn't quite enough, as he brought his mirror, bedroom door, (loosing hinges) ladders and other assorted "props". Things had changed and it wasn't quite like the first time they met. Soon, he realized that he lost his way. Nature was now captured on his phone and no longer in his heart. He was always looking for something greater. He never knew what he had could quite possible be the best -for him. Unbeknownst to his eyes and mind during these moments, he gradually backtracked and once again encountered these simple pleasures he once adored; unfiltered and admired in the purest form he knew. (Sort of)

And for this, the trees were happy.

hobbes2485 One year ago this week, I received a Christmas gift from my sister. It was a Fuji Instant Camera. I treasured it but wondered how I could share and relate it to Instagram. 32 weeks ago, I shipped it to Kentucky, in hopes that it would eventually reach all 50 States. This photo by @scottenglish justified the notion as it just reached it's 16th stop and 14th state. It feels amazing to know that connections have been made that surpass likes and comments, as we've shared in a journal and the page @travelinginstantcamera. -

Stops: Ohio, Kentucky, California, New Jersey, Michigan, Connecticut, Minnesota, Florida, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Hawaii, Alberta, Vancouver, Idaho, Utah and Arizona!

Miles Traveled: 23,282 (that is more than 4 times there and back from coast to coast of the United States)

So proud and happy this project still has the legs. Photo taken at Papago Park in Phoenix Az!

hobbes2485 I stood in this exact spot for a lot longer than I should have hoping to see an empty view. I tried putting a wet paint sign by the entrance, rope it off with my jacket, and beg. No luck. Perhaps that's what makes something so special. Loved and visited so much that something is never left alone. I'm not a big Christmas person, but it definitely had a feel. Especially lit up at night with carolers. Well done, Ann Arbor. I love the city, just not your football team. 6d

hobbes2485 Photo by @caitlindskoog - Vancouver

Where do I start with Caity? I've met, viewed, and followed a lot of people over the years on Instagram and Caity is quite possibly someone I admire the most. Everything I do, I try to emulate what she would do before I proceed to post. I think she is the most well rounded Instagrammer that I follow. Her photos along with her witty, yet sincere but mostly humorous words, make me always want to see what she'll post next. She has the compassion of the nurse she is and the puns of an old drunken sailor. I love that range. Not to mention, quite possibly the kindest person I've never once met. I'd like to think that if we ever did meet, "we could talk or not talk for hours." I thank her for allowing me to use her photo in my feed. It's just such an honor for me. I'm happy to call her a friend. Please go say hello to her, thank her for being a wonderful nurse and caring for those that need it most and view her amazing feed.

It only makes sense to end this how she would- "Little known fact, one of these boats was owned by ancestors of pirates. An elderly gentleman. He said he was too old to sail, so he sold it. I asked him how old he was, and he just simply replied: "Aye Matey."

hobbes2485 I've been in full mode photo winter hibernation, until @edibble7 said, "Do you mind if I break dance in this alley." Surprised, I said Um, no - do you need cardboard or something? She said "Nope. I'mma need you to hold this coat." Without hesitation, I asked for her phone to take the photo as I played "It's Like That" by Run DMC on Spotify on mine. She said "It's like that, huh?" I said, yes.

She proceeded to spin on her head. I dropped the "mic" (phone) and said I'll never have a photo quite like this ever again. Impressive. Thank you. Don't sweat the technique- Eric B.

Ps. Thanks Instagram for that update today. The little people need K's too.

hobbes2485 I learned several things today.

1. My friend (kind of) had the idea of starting a knit stocking cap company for cats. I (wisely) said this wasn't the best idea but I'd try to put one on. This was the end result.

2. I just posted two very similar photos back to back.

3. I thought a lot of underwear models really liked my photos until Instagram informed me otherwise. What a blow to the ego.

hobbes2485 Grace.

It was such an honor to find out I was the face (More so behind) on the filter "grace" in the new Looksee app for LittleCoal. I slapped it on this photo. Get it, touch my behind and let's filter something.

Courage is grace under pressure.

hobbes2485 "Take your bed outside", they said. "It'll be fun", they said.
I was recently introduced to @sackclothxashes through @littlecoal. This is important for me to say: I have no obligations to post or share any words. He told me in his own words when I enquired, "It's a company built from an incredible story with a mission to make a difference". I took it into my own hands to follow up, because I admire that sentiment. They are a company that makes blankets and for every one you purchase, they give one to a homeless shelter in your community. - Giving back. That's all I ever wanted to do. I sat and laid down momentarily to think about life without walls or heat. How having even just a bed is more than some may ever. Gestures of necessity, especially on Thanksgiving weekend is something communities desperately need. We gave thanks for what we have and now throughout the year, it must be our human nature to give what we can. Perhaps someday, everyone will have all the comfort they desire to live the life they wish to live. Until then, you start with generosity and a gift of warmth, made from love and compassion. And this, makes a difference.

hobbes2485 Thankful for nature and the joy it's brought to me and several others, locally. Thankful you tolerate their persistent clogging of your feed and grateful for your support. Especially to those who have encouraged me from the beginning (over two and a have years ago.) Photography brought me outside and being outside brought photography to you. Both amazing things that have changed my life for the better. Thank you. 4w

hobbes2485 A photo and barn that are both near and dear to my heart. I drove past this place many times in my life and it wasn't until I saw it on my phone that I in return adored it for what it is, was and will be. It represents the stereotypical Ohio from those afar, but holds blue collar, hard work and pride in our hearts. Glad I could revisit this photo.
Just shy of Breakin’ Down
There’s a bend in the road that I have found
Called home

Take a left at loneliness
There’s a place to find forgiveness
Called home. Ohio. -Over The Rhine

hobbes2485 Ohio. A jeans, t shirt, no makeup, "you get what you see" kinda state and absolutely beautiful because of it. I admire your honesty. 1mon

hobbes2485 2,613 photos and 146 weeks ago, I posted my first Instagram photo. Believe it or not, it was of a sub par sunrise in Miami Florida. Don't believe me, scroll. 92% of my photos are from NW Ohio. As much as I hate to say it, things can get repetitious. Yesterday, someone said, "glad to see the "spot" is still there, I haven't seen it since yesterday." I have to admit, I chuckled and he was right but I am loyal to the things I love. It's just natural for me here. I'm not a photographer. I click a button on a phone.
I asked a friend tonight what she thought of me in four words, she said " Genuine, fiesty, witty and mysterious" (and stubborn was tied for first.) We've known each other long enough by now.. Let's be honest. Tell me something.

hobbes2485 I went exploring yesterday. It was cold but I can't bare five months on the couch. I need to embrace it. Many of you from all over the country may have heard of Oak Openings or "the spot". I believe it's inspired many locally. There's a great short video in my link made by Nick Army @nickcinema help from @b_dickman and @trevlee. Regarding this area. It is absolutely perfect and I encourage you to check it out.

Side note @amweills tagged me about current songs listening to (although not my all time favs, enjoying them) Music and photography go hand in hand for me.

1.So this is goodbye- (William Fitzsimmons) 2. Re:Stacks- (Bon Iver) 3. Longing to belong- (Eddie Vedder) 4. Nation of heat- (Joe Pug) 5. Kiss- (Scout Niblett) 6.
