heartforhugs Preview pieces of a liturgy I wrote for Maundy Thursday following our Lenten sermon series on the 7 Deadly Sins. It seemed appropriate to share during #HolyWeek
Gather us in,
The burned and the bored,
The obstinate, the old-timers,
The fresh faced minors,
Who long for the mystery of your table.

Gather us in,
The gentrified and gamers,
The arrogant, the ambivalent,
The searching immigrant,
Who long for the identity of your table.

heartforhugs Another preview piece of a liturgy I wrote for Maundy Thursday following our Lenten sermon series on the 7 Deadly Sins. It seemed appropriate to share during #HolyWeek.

Gather us in,
The hipster and hated,
The violent, the vagabond,
The exile in Babylon,
Who long for the homecoming of your table.

heartforhugs Listen to the stories behind the words, the emotion in the music. Listen for the crackle, the revolving vinyl's character. Listen for the magic, the dusty sounds of well aged grooves and the sound of another time. Beautiful and fragile, haunting and scratching at the chambers of the soul. I like my tea with warm scratchy tones, crackling whispers from folky vinyl records. For here are etched the memories of another time, pressed into the vinyl grooves. #WHPlisten 2d

Gather us in,
The Gatsby, the glutton.
The incredible, the insatiable,
The consumed but unattainable
Who long for the wholeness of your table. #HolyWeek

heartforhugs I was bummed I didn't get to see Stephen at the meet up last weekend, but happy to discover this shot in my shots from the last meet (and the first time I met this talented man). Plus the shadow play is incredible. #PostThePeople 4d

heartforhugs Met this cutie in the tulip fields last year. We played in the mud together and clearly we had a good time. If you're headed to the tulips, let me know you're in the area. #thepursuitofjoyproject (Yes, I asked permission from his parents.) 4d

heartforhugs He has sat on sketchy skate park cement, been groped by these vines, waited patiently while I adjusted settings, introduced me to the city's skyscrapers, rescued my phone, and made me laugh so hard. He is the best portrait photographer, I swear. While the quantity of times we've been able to get together is low, the quality of those adventures were off the charts. He's moving back to Montana and will be missed. #makeportraits 5d

heartforhugs I got to meet this incredibly talented man is weekend finally. And the man is worthy of his legendary status. Genuinely interested in people's stories, benevolent and kind hearted, and hilariously entertaining. More than this jovial disposition, he is wise. He soaks up the world around him and engages deeply with all of its magnificent details. He appreciates the gifts of others, the world around him, and meaningful relationships. I am grateful for the precious time we had and look forward to many more adventures. #PeopleWorthMeeting 6d

heartforhugs Abraham Heschel writes about faith as "an endless pilgrimage of the heart." I love this image of a life lived in radical amazement, a thrilling adventure of discipline, growth, and transformative living. Awe at the experience of the everyday commonplace lived in the conviction and gratitude for these spiritual adventures. #WWIM11 #explorebellinghamwwim11 Full Disclosure: this was taken as an outtake while @slaterhirst was setting up a shot. Idea credit goes to him 7d

heartforhugs The gentle kiss of petals,
Whispered wishes, prayerful praises.
Blushing pink blossoms:
Carried on the gentle breeze,
Confetti made of springtime flowers. #PostThePeople #latergram

heartforhugs Reclaiming is an act of finding beauty in what was lost or discarded. I wonder if this vintage obsession could teach us about how we interact (or ignore) with the people around us every day. What things or relationships are able to be reclaimed and restored around you? #WWIM11 #AllAboutThatRoll 1w

heartforhugs Nate was super patient as I began shooting film for the first time at the #AllAboutThatRoll #WWIM11. He stood here for quite some time as I adjusted all the manual settings and even indulged me by staying long enough to get this #iphoneonly shot. Grateful for his patience and his guidance. (Also don't name tags look awesome in all these meet up photos! ) 1w
