hayleytalbot Had a lot of things hollered at me in my time but "WHAT KIND OF F#%^%#} DRUG DEALER ARE YOU!!!!!??" from a random person behind a tree today was one of the more memorable. "Ummm a bad one?" I offered. "I just have children's nurofen". "STAY AWAY FROM THAT S#^#% GIRLY IT'LL DO YOU IN!!". Sage advice....I think...must've been the trench...😕 5h

hayleytalbot A short story on my favourite teacup....
My grandma Val has lived a good life, but a hard life. She is such an intelligent discerning woman, the mother of three incredible boys, you could safely bet your house she would've been a Hilary Clinton in another time and space. For her time and space she worked as a PA in a Doctors surgery, saved every dollar, and against Grandpops best investment ideas, bought the family a holiday house by the sea with every dollar she saved and it went on to multiply in value exponentially. She never cared much for fashion but always looked immaculate, making most of her own clothes. She's a sensational cook, I baked my first cheesecake with her aged 4, she taught me to knit around 7, she loves crime novels, is an expert in every kind of sport, and you can bet she has a newspaper clipping of every time you've been in the paper purely because you're my friend. This is my favourite teacup because she gave it to me. It's also part of a complete set of fine English china that she saved up for over DECADES buying piece by piece only to finally complete the set and keep it safely in bubble wrap and boxes for a special occasion which never came, before finally in her 85th year, passing it onto me never ever used. In her honour, and I'm sure she would be quietly horrified, I use it every single day. It's our "every day set" because I want to think of her every single day, her discipline, her restraint, her class, her sacrifice, how good a person she is (even though I have forever to go before I'm anything like her). I think of her every day. So you can imagine my horror this morning when whilst hastily drying my favourite teacup- the metaphoric cup of tea I share with Grandma every day- it flew out of my hands and smashed to pieces. I commemorate it thus on the altar of Instagram and plan on giving it a new lease on life as an artwork, and a new musing on transformation; the imperfection in beauty and the beauty in imperfection x [sidenote: a more practical mind might find a different moral..such as "don't use the fine English china as the everyday set" #doh #sorrygrandma]

  •   hayleytalbot Oh wow @rumsongifts how incredibly special! The value these amazing women placed on these special collections, gathering them from far and wide and over such long periods of time only to complete them and give them away makes you feel incredibly humbled and privileged! Hopefully we can preserve them well enough to pass on to our granddaughters/nieces x 6d
  •   hayleytalbot Beautiful Sonya thank you so much you are so kind and so lovely . I couldn't bear to throw the pieces out they're still so glorious! Hopefully they'll have a happy new life xxx @jatanainteriors 6d
  •   hayleytalbot Love you @carlymaree1 thank you! You're so right. It really highlights how transient we are now too, none of us these days would save our whole lives for something only to not use it and give it away. Also highlights how good we've got it to (generally) be able to acquire all of the things we want when we want them. So lucky to be in a generation with everything at our finger tips. But then look at what that instant gratification and mindlessness is doing for the planet! Ahh... 6d
  •   hayleytalbot Good idea Avi! It's actually definitely 'gluable' come to think of it but I really want to do something else with it now because it actually does look really lovely broken! Hope you're feeling well! Miss you guys X @saltwaterkiss X 6d
  •   hayleytalbot I'm eating dessert from one of the bowls right now @mumma_cath and I actually think grandmas china makes my cooking taste better . Thank you @dianne2464! I hope it's good enough to show to her 6d
  •   hayleytalbot Thanks for pointing out the bright side there Aunty definitely best that I broke it myself! @mavendolls x 6d
  •   smokennnoken Amazing story! I'm sure it will become a moving & emotive piece of art! 6d
  •   twolittlepirates Oh this made me a little teary. I love that you use her dinner set everyday, I think she would be quite chuffed to know that it is loved and used. Emma 6d

hayleytalbot Pouring rain, pouring over beautiful images, my rainy day read; LIMONS by French photographer Remi Guerrin inspiring my little he[art]. I hurriedly bought this book on another rainy day in Paris last year and today is the first day I've got to properly sit down and immerse myself in it and I've cried twice so far, such is the beauty it stirs. "The poet is the absolute reality. The photographer is the dissolute reality- the very cast of the real, a fossils cast; the other (of the) poet". #remiguerrin 1w

hayleytalbot Dearly, dearly wishing I was home to say goodbye. Have you ever seen a man more proud of his wife's handiwork!? Epic hand knit by Amanda. I could only dream of spinning such a yarn! We were having a very "serious" conversation about the intricacies of fair isle here, cause they're the only sorts of problems we ever have to solve at the Angourie Store. Heart all the way back home today. Thinking of you all and wishing so badly I was there. Rest In Peace Steve x 2w

hayleytalbot My instinct was to write something in the nature of REST IN PEACE, but I get the distinct feeling that the work of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran is not done. It defies belief that any government can justify the death penalty in this day and age, especially in circumstances such as these. The decade long incarceration followed by the deplorable final execution surely amounts to a double punishment-triple if you include the psychological torture of not knowing when your life will expire. Drug crime is serious. It doles out its own horrific torture of which at one time these men were willing conduits. That is not in issue. The punishment however ceased fitting the crime the moment they were genuinely rehabilitated. The drugs they were involved with thankfully did not reach the streets, they served a long sentence (and were prepared to serve life) to ameliorate the danger they at one time posed. Yes there needs to be deterrent measures but this is not it. Legalised murder and torture perpetrated by governments is not it. I saw a great quote about capital punishment that read "We kill people who kill people because killing people is bad". Go figure. With two of my best friends living in third world countries and witnessing the drastically devalued status of human life on a daily basis, I'm grateful to live in a country that can look at this with its humanity intact and say you know what- this is bullshit. A life is a life. And where there is life there is hope and we must always preserve hope. I'm posting @benquilty quote because I applaud him and think he is extraordinary. Although the physical manifestations of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran are no longer with us their quintessence will not be extinguished. Heartfelt prayers of peace, love and comfort to the families. And death to the death penalty. #istandformercy 1mon

Normal Hayley Talbot
hayleytalbot Finally got Archie to sleep and came out to the loungeroom to find this guy mid bank heist. Or with his light sabre stuck in a drain pipe. Or mid pole routine. Prison breaking? Super glue on the chimney. Gale force winds. Alien abduction.
It's a situation... #lego #ninjago
