hattiecrook Snoozer (finally). 2d
  •   hattiecrook @alexalm_ ha! I miss my cats but my boyfriends allergic so they've been regimes and obvs Serge is with my mum & dad ️ But atleast I can have a dog now haha!!! 2d
  •   hattiecrook *rehomed 2d
  •   thetreasuremap So cute! 2d
  •   marymint Excellent snoozles! Monty used to DEMAND a 5pm sleep everyday and he still has a late afternoon kip nowadays but he's much more able to find somewhere comfy without my assistance. 2d
  •   hattiecrook @marymint haha what a dude! Ralph was up at 4am yowling so I don't want him to sleep too much now so he'll get hopefully a longer amount of sleep tonight (worth a shot)! X 2d
  •   marymint @hattiecrook he's missing his mummmy and brothers and sisters! It's painful but when he cries; take him out for a wee. He'll soon learn to cry to go outside for the toilet. I want to be a puppy doula. Seriously. 2d
  •   hattiecrook @marymint good plan, we're getting into the routine of taking him in the yard every time he wakes up which is slowly working! 2d

  •   hattiecrook @marymint How did you find training him/her? X 3d
  •   marymint Pretty easy for the basics - sit, lie down, dinner, sweeties, get down, leave etc but his recall is dreadful. Speaking to a few Patterdale owners they've said the same, they're notoriously independent and if you want him to do something that he's not that interested in you've no chance! Fortunately he's very cute so we don't mind too much. Ours wears a bell on his collar so we can hear where he is when he goes in the bushes after a squirrel. His best attribute is his basic need for at least 18hrs sleep everyday. He's incredibly portable and great in social groups but he's not keen on other dogs when they're on a lead (I think he sees it as a weakness). He eats NOTHING, seriously - he exists on virtually no food so don't feel worried if yours doesn't eat. What's yours called and where did you get him, I'm hankering for another one! X 3d
  •   hattiecrook @marymint Good, he's really responsive. He's learnt to sit in one afternoon it's insane! Hmmm I was wondering about recall, iv heard lots of stories now of people saying their a pain when their off their lead but does yours always come back? Oooh I hope he's a snoozer too that's ace! Does he bark or jump much? He's called Ralph ️ and we bought him via an advert on the pets4homes app. He's a patterdale/lakeland terrier mix breed from a couple who own a stables near Birstall (Leeds if your not local). They still have some puppies left! X 3d
  •   marymint @hattiecrook I'm in Roundhay and I THINK we have some mutual friends - Ron and Francine? I'm Wolfie's godmother @wolftreasure 3d
  •   marymint Recall works better with food but Monty wasn't bothered AT ALL about food, the only treat he liked was ginger biscuits so I used to break them into tiny pieces when we were training but he never wanted them when we were out and about so it didn't really work. Yes, he always comes back eventually but it's always on HIS terms and conditions. He doesn't bark lots, and he's not 'yappy'. I do remember having to encourage him to be tickled, it worked because now he'll nudge us until he gets precisely the tickle he wants. 3d
  •   hattiecrook @marymint I think we're just going to have to be really patient and spend lots of time training, I'm home 3 days a week and my boyfriend works from home so we'll be able to nip any bad habits in the bud (fingers crossed ha!!). Aw that's lovely that he directs you where he wants his tickles, sweet! Haaa I do know them both, my old neighbours, how lovely! Iv still not met Wolfie, tell them to get their arses to Saltaire asap! X 3d
  •   marymint I will get 'em told! I loved training Monty, if you need any help let me know. When it comes to toilet training I took him outside about ten minutes after any food or water and he pretty much performed within five minutes, lots of praise then straight back inside. I tried not to make outside about play time until he knew that outside was for wees and poos. You'll start to read his behaviour and know when he needs to go out. We caged Monty at night which was great - he cried when he wanted to go out and he still loves his cage. Have fun with it, he's a terrier at the end of the day, they're clever little buggers and he'll bring you lots of joy. Keep in touch - I'm excited for you! 3d
  •   hattiecrook @marymint thanks for all the advice :) we really appreciate it!! Hopefully he'll become as well trained as Monty, he's a clever boy so we have high hopes. Take care c 2d

hattiecrook Before I forget due to work and new puppy excitement... tomorrow is my lovely Ma & Pa's 28th Wedding anniversary. They are both inspiring, loving, truly loyal and generous people who I'm so lucky to have as my parents. Whilst sis and I are away we are safe in the knowledge that they're looking after each other during an unsure time. Big love. 5d
