halfbatch Mt Elgon, Uganda where all the coffee shops are open on Memorial Day normal hours. 4d
  •   strumpfm Would have been great if you told me about the Memorial Day hours yesterday so that I could have planned my day. Now I'm stuck here and not in Uganda cause I thought everything would be closed. 3d
  •   halfbatch @strumpfm yeah I booked my tickets months ago, soon after I realized that I would be traveling on memorial day, tried to change my flights because I thought everything would be closed, but couldn't switch my flights at all, luckily everything is open normal hours, it's almost like it's not even a real holiday! 3d
  •   strumpfm How was the Memorial Day BBQ scene at Mt. Elgon? 3d
  •   halfbatch @strumpfm so good man I told the pit master "Ugandan it again man!" 3d

halfbatch The visual tells of cherry affected by frost. An interesting obstacle, since the risk comes only with a specific climate that is also ideal for coffee production. Add to that the fact that frost is completely unavoidable for these particular farms, it makes for a very unique looming risk year after year. 3mon

halfbatch Still one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. Somewhere in Jaén, Peru a few years back traveling with @cityful. Laying out parchment on a tarp for drying on the roadside. Timing rules! 4mon

halfbatch Hummingbird nest in a coffee tree spotted last week in Costa Rica. The farmers I was walking with were so proud, as this is shining proof that their trees are treated with extreme care and delicately, so much so that mama hummingbirds would see the tree as a safe place for their young. Pretty rare sighting no matter what the tree! 4mon

halfbatch My tiny harvest from Finca Alaska yesterday. Felt good with my selection. Ripe cherry almost falls off the tree, and a deep red color fills the cherry. It's just askin to be picked! 4mon

halfbatch Ever since my first trip to see coffee, I've been more and more interested in what makes tree varieties different. I've learned there are a number of defining characteristics to different plants. This one, Villa Lobos, is very unique to Costa Rica. This picture shows the angle at which the branches emerge from the trunk, just slightly elevated from perpendicular. Pretty cool sticks huh? 4mon

halfbatch Interesting pre-drying machine in Costa Rica. Hot air blows up through the screen from under the table as the coffee moves over it, giving it a quick and significant pre drying in a matter of seconds. 4mon
