halfbatch The visual tells of cherry affected by frost. An interesting obstacle, since the risk comes only with a specific climate that is also ideal for coffee production. Add to that the fact that frost is completely unavoidable for these particular farms, it makes for a very unique looming risk year after year. 7d

halfbatch Still one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. Somewhere in Jaén, Peru a few years back traveling with @cityful. Laying out parchment on a tarp for drying on the roadside. Timing rules! 4w

halfbatch Hummingbird nest in a coffee tree spotted last week in Costa Rica. The farmers I was walking with were so proud, as this is shining proof that their trees are treated with extreme care and delicately, so much so that mama hummingbirds would see the tree as a safe place for their young. Pretty rare sighting no matter what the tree! 1mon

halfbatch My tiny harvest from Finca Alaska yesterday. Felt good with my selection. Ripe cherry almost falls off the tree, and a deep red color fills the cherry. It's just askin to be picked! 2mon

halfbatch Ever since my first trip to see coffee, I've been more and more interested in what makes tree varieties different. I've learned there are a number of defining characteristics to different plants. This one, Villa Lobos, is very unique to Costa Rica. This picture shows the angle at which the branches emerge from the trunk, just slightly elevated from perpendicular. Pretty cool sticks huh? 2mon

halfbatch Interesting pre-drying machine in Costa Rica. Hot air blows up through the screen from under the table as the coffee moves over it, giving it a quick and significant pre drying in a matter of seconds. 2mon
