haleryan One more from yesterday, the result of an unexpected detour from our planned route. To get from this vantage point at the top of the plateau involved a narrow, winding, bumpy, 5 mph descent on a rutted dirt road full of switchbacks and hairpin turns. Basically, the best detour ever. 5d

haleryan Goodnight from Northern Arizona. 6d
  •   generallee You've been killing it 6d
  •   benfrank Good god man! 6d
  •   haleryan @generallee thanks, pal. We've been driving through northern Arizona, across the Navajo Nation, and in to southern Utah. No matter how many times I take that route, I am in constant awe of the landscape and sky. 5d

haleryan Ride home churro strapped up top. Shortly later I dropped half of it because my coordinated bike handling and churro eating skills need some improvement. 2w
  •   jenny_klug i hope you still picked it up and ate it. a churro is a terrible thing to waste. :) 2w
  •   garbagecan at first I thought you were wearing a kilt. dang it. 2w
  •   thepoweroflard You have a strong constitution. I would have eaten the thing as soon as it was handed to me. 2w
  •   haleryan @jenny_klug don't think I didn't consider it. But this may be my new diet - eat all my meals while riding. 2w
  •   haleryan @garbagecan sorry to disappoint. Though that would have provided increased ventilation while I rode. 2w
  •   haleryan @thepoweroflard I only made it a quarter of a mile before I gave in. 2w
  •   pepperjess Poor churro, but a lucky roadrunner found it I'm sure. 2w
  •   haleryan @pepperjess I am certain that is what happened. 2w

haleryan It doesn't show in this photo, but there's a huge dust storm rolling in hard from the south. About a minute after this photo was taken, the sky was brown, whatever sun was left had been obliterated, and sheet metal was being ripped off that low center structure. Nature was in a mood today. 2w
  •   benndiagrams you think nature is into S&M? if so, why is it frowned upon? 2w
  •   generallee I'd love to see a dust storm 2w
  •   haleryan @generallee they are a sight to see. 2w
  •   upplease @haleryan nature is in a mood tonight. I got soaked to the bone walking home from a wedding in Long Island. Gorgeous picture btw 2w
  •   haleryan @upplease thanks! Hopefully it rained after the ceremony? 2w
  •   haleryan @benndiagrams I'm sure that nature has seen it all and done it all. 2w
  •   upplease @haleryan yes, after the ceremony, after the reception, following a beach bon fire and a lightening show. We should have expected it, but we were caught totally unprepared 2w
  •   haleryan @upplease that sounds like a whole series of amazing events. 2w

haleryan Shot from this morning's bike commute. Shortly after taking this, I had to stop riding again to let a family of quail cross the path. 3w

haleryan Tools used today are as follows: mitre saw, circular saw, jig saw, air compressor, nail gun, brad nailer, drill, countersink, wood and masonry drill bits, hammer, tape measure, level, carpenter's square, screwdrivers (Philips and flathead), hex key, file, clamps, pencil, headlamp, and bottle opener. 4w
  •   haleryan @cinnabunngirl thanks, you too! 4w
  •   falfa Sounds like one tough can of tuna. 4w
  •   pepperjess you forgot math, an important tool! 4w
  •   haleryan @pepperjess you are correct, and definitely the tool I most misused. 4w
  •   upplease @haleryan you spent too much time "texting" with your calculator during math class 4w
  •   haleryan @upplease you are probably right, though it never seemed to have affected your learning of the subject matter. 4w
  •   benndiagrams you should build wonky & miscalculated shelves and load them with advanced mathematics books...then call it art! 4w
  •   haleryan @benndiagrams that's good thinking. 3w
