gourmetgirlfriend What a way to start the week.
The view out my bathroom window a few moments ago.
Looking past a much treasured hand blown Iittala glass bird gifted by my dearest friend & my gorgeous @mrsbmunro handwoven wire basket.
I hope this week is kind to you all.
Sending love courage & strength.

gourmetgirlfriend It has become something of a tradition for the littlest of our five boys to cook a massive Ragu on sundays with his dad.
He is using a Mezzaluna (half-moon) to do the chopping.
This is a great way to get little kids learning how to chop with a sharp knife without the worry of them cutting themselves.
Learning skills like this early is a great way to get kids cooking.

  •   aliceguy Ooh that's great, I'd not thought of that. The girls use a steak knife but Nancy's quite ferocious! 1w
  •   sweetravioli He must have been Italian in a past life! 1w
  •   gekeb Love it @katejm! Aud makes pizza and salad every week. She should graduate to something more complicated. We have a double mezzaluna she could wield. Next week... 1w

gourmetgirlfriend My 14yo is making a salad using produce from a Pomegranate tree he chose & planted 7years ago.
The salad has roasted cauliflower & carrot, freekah, a bunch of parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, toasted & ground cumin seeds & a generous sprinkling of pomegranate seeds.
I can't wait to eat it!

  •   judelt That sounds so yummy! Our 2yo's fave salad is freekah and pomegranate - we planted 3 pomegranates this year for him, but may have to wait a while to reap the rewards! 1w

  •   parisbug You got your own! 2w
  •   fenster 2w
  •   gourmetgirlfriend Yes @parisbug SO LUCKY!!! 2w
  •   th3littleredhen I've been stalking wheels on eBay and Gumteee for a while but feel like I will need to get a kiln to make it worthwhile as no one near me will fire my things. Are you getting a kiln Ruth, or do you have a nearby firing spot? 2w
  •   gourmetgirlfriend I understand that @th3littleredhen - no I don't have a kiln & will just use one at the Pottery studio I am taking classes at 2w
  •   th3littleredhen @gourmetgirlfriend ah-that's a great idea. The closest studio I can find is a 40 min drive (in "good" Sydney traffic) from me. I was SO spoiled when I lived close to great facilities in Canberra & when I went to art school. Talk about not knowing what I had til it was gone! 2w
  •   gourmetgirlfriend Yup. Mine is nearly an hours drive too @th3littleredhen. Big city living means nothing is quick! 2w
  •   th3littleredhen @gourmetgirlfriend isn't it funny? Younger me growing up in Canberra would have thought that living in Sydney meant I could have easier access to pretty much anything! 2w
