goalzero "When the early trips were headed to the greater ranges they had very few if any pieces of equipment requiring electricity. Today by comparison, we are heavily laden with such equipment, ranging from headlamps and iPods to small computers and camera equipment. It requires a whole new logistical challenge, one which seems to increase every year."

goalzero "Last night I didn't sleep, I walked miles through the desert alone with no trail or gps and did jumping jacks to stay warm while shooting in below freezing conditions. All part of the adventure and the views were totally worth it!"

goalzero //Day 22, Alaska//
@ForrestShearer
"Low Clouds blanket base camp. Heavy Grey clouds fill the air and keep us off the high peaks. Grounded, I take the time to dry out all my damp gear.
South East Alaska is known for rough weather at all times of the year. Down days have filled up most of my time. The two days I've spent on my snowboard have been filled with joy, big steep lines and epic snow. It's hard to play the patience game. Still, we're waiting for a window of good light and stability to cash-in all our chips and ride a couple more big spine lines before it's time to go. I'm willing to stay as long as I have to, but in the end the mountains are holding all the cards."

"This winter I am living in a campervan, travelling throughout Europe, hunting out adventures and snow.  My Goal Zero power packs have been crucial, enabling me to charge all my camera and drone gear when I come off the hill so I can get back up there first thing the next day."

goalzero "We can lay in bed and listen to the owls hooting across the canopy. We spend more time on dishes because we don’t have a dishwasher. We carry in wood from the woodshed each day together to keep our heat source alive.This life… yurt life… has shown us that despite the pace of the world today, it is possible to slow down. It is possible to harvest sunshine for power. It is possible to get what you want, communicate why you have it, and tell others how to do it, too."

goalzero "The Light-A-Life Mini lantern rocked my world on a recent ski mountaineering trip to Peru. Such a game changer. To summit by sunrise, we would wake up at 11 pm to eat breakfast and start hiking my midnight. The lantern made our base camp feel like home, complete with a light switch. It brought a warm comfortable glow into the tent, and made tent tasks like organizing gear and prepping food so much easier.
I love to suffer in the mountains but I'm all about the small touches that make life a little more comfortable. This lantern will be a mainstay in my camping and outdoor kit!"

"My friends and family care. I can’t lose touch with them. I have to keep my electronics juiced, regardless of how long my travel day is, what country I’m in, or how many peaks I plan to link up that day.

No two days in the mountains are the same. Sometimes my phone loses its power faster than other days. Sometimes I lose power faster than other days. The same way I take extra granola bars and water to keep me fueled, I bring a small, lightweight battery pack for my phone, GPS, and/or satellite
communication device. My legs are vital to get me out of the mountains. If they are compromised to the point of failure, then my communication devices are vital for the exact same reason. It isn’t just about climbing the mountain; it’s about getting home safely afterward."

By @BrodyLeven "I test myself outside. I strive to be a better person, to make the world a better place, to live my life better, and to learn from my friends and pick up on their best characteristics, applying them to myself in an attempt to be the best person I can be.

The mountains bring out the best in my friends and me: communication, teamwork, coordinated effort, physical exertion. We work together toward common goals of growth via summits. But inside, I think we are each working toward our own goal, fighting our own demons, reaching our own highs and finding solidarity in the lonely pursuit of climbing mountains, even if tied to another person doing the same thing."
