giovanamelo2 It's been a while since I've posted about the adventures of #yellowchairjane but don't you worry; Jane has been wheeling all around Cleveland, earning confused glances from my neighbors because they see her in and out of the house so much. 2h

giovanamelo2 "To love is to build." My sweet friend @rachel_westcott said this to me over coffee the other day and it's stayed with me. I was telling her about the little frame on the right.
I picked it up in Seattle a while ago but only recently got around to framing it and putting it up. In a few weeks, I'm moving out. I still decided to hang it, but I thought, isn't it silly to still be putting my room together when really I should be getting ready to take it all down and pack up?
And then how often do we do this very thing with relationships? We keep from building - from investing in them, because we know that there's a transition soon?
What I know is that I'll be living in my room for another month, and that's another month to keep building. To keep loving the people around me. To stay present where I am, even when all of me wants to pack up early and call it quits. Let's continue to build, even if we won't be building around us for much longer.

giovanamelo2 These friends are pure gold. And sharing brunch food and laughter and Saturday mornings with them makes me have joy in my heart.
Graduation keeps getting closer and I'm holding on a little tighter to days like today.

giovanamelo2 Since January, we have worked together to develop a PR campaign for a local nonprofit client.
From research to writing up reports to designing our book, we've worked a lot of hours to put it all together. And today we presented to our client, a few professors, and some professionals in the PR field and absolutely killed it.
I'm so proud of these people.

giovanamelo2 When I lived in Chicago I'd take the train and sit at the airport a lot. You can't help but smile when you're hanging around Arrivals watching people come home.
It's one of my favorite places ever.

giovanamelo2 I wake up every morning hoping that whatever home I move to next has morning light that's this good. It gets me every day. #thislittlelightseries 2w

giovanamelo2 I love these goons a whole lot and I am thankful for them.
Being away from the Insta world really reminded me to focus on the stuff that matters - and people matter.
It's @lillyfeliz's birthday and if you see her you should tell her happy birthday and maybe a whale joke.

giovanamelo2 Does it hurt to bloom?
Is it painful to become full of life again? For those branches that seemed dead for so long to wake up and grow again?
Is it sad to let go of your flowers, and let leaves take their place?

giovanamelo2 Today I did an adult thing. It felt like a huge little victory.

For a while it's been like jumping through hoops - between tears and frustrations and insurance things and questions and phone calls. Today felt like a step. And I'm really glad about it. #honestcaptions

giovanamelo2 There's just something about kicking off your shoes and dropping your bags by the door. Or coming back to clean sheets and family. Or taking in the quietness of home, and how the ground isn't moving under your feet anymore.
Traveling makes coming back to these little things worthwhile.
Its 8pm and barely dark yet but I'm crawling in bed and calling it a day because my body is all sorts of jet lagged and sick and confused with spring allergies. Hope all you spring breakers get some good rest before starting a fresh new week 🏼️

giovanamelo2 Waiting for my flight on this airport carpet which is apparently pretty famous because people decided it would be. (I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't bringing back a pair of PDX carpet socks in my backpack)
Traveling makes my heart so full of stories but there's nothing like knowing your cozy little home is waiting for you. Only two cities away from being home and I'm pretty excited about it.

giovanamelo2 Portland you're cool and weird and I like you a lot even though so many of your people talk about vegan cheese. 2mon
  •   tessavoccola Ahhhhh I love that city 2mon
  •   tessavoccola I went there and back and didn't realize the carpet was so important until after it's a strange city to be sure 2mon
  •   schia1cl Go to Devils dill! It is a sandwich place on Hawthorne. So good! 2mon

giovanamelo2 Kicking off today with breakfast beignYAYs because it's Aubrey's birthday and we're celebrating with dancing in the car and random singing in public.
There's no one else I'd rather bounce around Portland being all gooby with.

  •   _lindajoy_ Oh, and the best ice cream you've ever had: Salt & Straw. Get honey lavender. It will literally change you. 2mon
  •   giovanamelo2 ahhhhh yes!!! these are gold, thanks so much!! @_lindajoy_ 2mon
  •   _lindajoy_ Yeah girl! Enjoy my hometown while you're there! It is most definitely one of the best places on this planet. Actually, I'm like 90% sure it's what inspired Belinda Carlisle to write her #1 hit song. 2mon

giovanamelo2 could've gone to the beach for spring break, but instead we hiked for hours to this lake that's hidden underneath all that snow. 2mon

Suggestions on your go-to song to dramatically look out the window and contemplate life?

giovanamelo2 Did anyone else know that there's a city called Vancouver in Washington state and it's on the same coast as Vancouver, BC?!? Because I didn't.
I got to the train station with my ticket to leave from a city that's definitely not the city I'm in. So now I'm stuck trekking around in the cold pouring rain with a huge backpack and wet shoes because I checked out of my hostel already. I can't help but laugh at myself, and I think that's what I like so much about traveling; things don't always go as planned and that's okay.
Sometimes you just gotta wing it, like this picture that I took using a tree stump as a tripod.
