gaigaithai Generally, when ya go on vacation for a week -- then need a few weeks to recover -- it's a memorable trip. Our visit last month to the Pacific Northwest was definitely unforgettable... and we'll leave it at that (for now.) Thx @modisoondarotok for the wonderful travel tips, and sorry to have missed y'all @klowhiza and @jensaewhat (rain check... tho maybe PDX already gets plenty of that first thing :) A trip highlight was definitely checking out @pawkhrua's mighty Pok Pok Empire. Straight Up Killa Dishes. Aesthetically, Whiskey Soda Lounge and Sen Yai was like stepping into perfect set pieces from Monrak Transistor -- and we're huge fans of Pen-Ek Ratanaruang's 2001 homage to Thai films and music. AND, we were able to satisfy our kai grata obsession, at Sen Yai, without jetting to Ubon :) #latergram #thai #thaifood 1w

gaigaithai In our previous and current commercial kitchen there's been another business that makes donuts. It's kinda a problem... and it's even worse when they hand out samples. Just awful. :) Anyhow, have a good weekend and we'll see y'all -- rain or shine -- Saturday at Bloomington and Sunday at Kingfield! 2mon

  •   bitesizelanny Ooooo might have to make it out there. 2mon
  •   gaigaithai Just started this year, from 4 to 8. We'll have togo containers if you wanna pick some up for @thedocandrea and the boys! @david_foureyes 2mon

  •   marissaleighramirez Does that jar say "Free Delivery"?!? I'm imagining a milkman uniform in black & yellow for honey delivery each morning and it's glorious! 2mon
  •   gaigaithai Even better, the "bee people" deliver the honey on their bikes while wearing helmets with bee antenna. Super cute. And the honey.... @marissaleighramirez 2mon

gaigaithai I'd always been curious about this Malaysian eatery down in the AV, so B and I stopped in prior to a paint run to the big orange home repair store. Mee Goreng, lemongrass wings and roast pork, red bean and kaya buns. There's also Japanese and Korean on the menu, perhaps reflecting the economic realities of trying to do a less-known Asian cuisine in the 'burbs. Still, the noodles are good, the tasty kaya buns are as close as we've come to our fave sankaya bun store in Udorn in awhile, and the polite, and ummm, young man running the counter has some mad front-of-the-house skills. 2mon
  •   bahertz Where is dis? 2mon
  •   gaigaithai Down the Cedar/77 speedway in Apple Valley. @bahertz 2mon
  •   aliciacyt That's Hokkien noodles :) 2mon
  •   bkkfatty Sounds like a solid find and if B approves, it must be good! 2mon
  •   hellogrobe Right by my old house! 2mon
  •   kaminiq Yes, definitely more like hokkien noodles but delicious nonetheless! I LOVE their buns. My fave is the milk cream bun. I've been told the curry puff is good and spicy. 2mon
  •   kaminiq Love B's bored look :) 2mon
  •   amarawadee2523 Yum!!!! 2mon

gaigaithai Much thanks to food critic Rick Nelson for including us in @startribune's "Taste 50: A celebration of Minnesota farmers markets." Above is a shot of @swamim and @bwin1222 doing what they do best and below is the article text. Thx to y'all for all your support and have great weekend! [One of the Twin Cities’ more adventurous Thai restaurants technically isn’t a restaurant, it’s a farmers market stand. Gai Gai Thai owner Kris Petcharawises pulls together an always impressive array of lively stand-up fare (the breakfast bowls are first-rate), frequently putting a Thai gloss on Midwestern ingredients, purchased from neighboring vendors. Thirsty? There’s also a refreshing lime- and lemongrass-flavored Thai iced tea, Petcharawises’ clever spin on the Arnie Palmer. Above, cook David Anderson worked the Gai Gai Thai stove at the Kingfield Farmers Market. (Bloomington, and others)] 2mon
