gadventures The Taj Mahal's mausoleum complex of white domed marble is actually an integrated complex of many structures. Construction began sometime around 1632 and was completed in 1653, taking nearly 22 years to complete and employing ~20,000 artisans and craftsmen throughout the empire. Combining elements from Islamic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian architectural styles, it is one of the world’s most celebrated structures—and is regarded by many as the best example of the Mughal architecture. The Taj Mahal attracts some 3 million visitors a year and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. #TimelapseTuesday 6d

gadventures Grab a spot of sand and watch the sun set on Venice Beach for
#TimelapseTuesday.

Land developer Abbot Kinney had a plan for the marshland that once occupied California's Venice Beach. His vision: create a system of canals to drain the water from the marsh into the sea, then fill that land with a resort. Today, you'll find a mix bygone eras, of whimsy, and of the rich and poor. What remains is the beach's name, which not only pays homage to Italy, but to the idea that with a little engineering, any dream can come true.

gadventures The secluded oasis of Huacachina, Peru, brilliantly captured by @elard_photography. Local legend says the lagoon was formed from the bath water of a native princess. Interrupted while bathing by a young hunter, she fled. Her flowing mantle became the surrounding sands, while she dove into the newly-created waters to live as a mermaid, where she still resides. 2w
