fruitbrute I've got two refrigerators full of produce and am thankful that no animals will have lost their lives today to feed me or my guests. Cheers to fine dining and food snobbery, and to compassion, and the desire to live as cruelty-free as possible. 3w

  •   mykier We are thinking about getting a German shepherd! 1mon
  •   fruitbrute @mykier PLEASE adopt! Westside German Shepherd Rescue down here in LA has an incredible number of purebred wonderful GSDs. Both my boys are from them! And if you guys want help, dog adoption matchmaking is my specialty! My organization, CWDF, does it as a free service for potential adopters - I even go with you to meet the dogs and run evaluations on them for you to help find the perfect match. Shoot me an email/msg and I'm happy to give you more info!! So rad!!! 1mon
  •   mykier Excellent thanks! We are definitely adopting, but we want to wait until we get a yard. They probably wouldn't do well in a loft with a balcony? 1mon
  •   fruitbrute I have a tiny yard, and besides for sunbathing after a walk, my guys don't spend much time in it. A lot depends on the dog, his temperament, energy level, drive, and what kind of daily exercise and work he's doing (and needs). You guys hike a ton, so probably want a dog who will get up and go when you do, and chill when home? if you're not into dog sport (or looking to be), you want a dog with medium energy, low drive, low suspicion (since you would be taking him on trails frequented by others presumably), decent handler focus. look for a 1-3 year old, so you can get a handle on temperament, they have a great attention span for training, and are still "pups" with that can-do! attitude and zest. Yards are fine but by no means mandatory - as long as their needs are met and you get the right dog to match where you're all at lifestyle-wise. (i.e. some get a high energy dog hoping it will get them to start exercising/running more. What's better is get the dog that's appropriate for where you're at now, as our best intentions can make for miserable GSDs who will quickly become destructive redecorators, LOL) 1mon
