freshlypieced #sewoff challenge no. 2 complete! @whipstitchier's Get Up and Go skirt - it's too big, so I didn't bother hemming it, but other than that it's complete. ๐Ÿ˜€ Making another smaller one next! It seems I can never get the fit right in the first try ... 15h
  •   fun_with_fibers Very cute. 14h
  •   whipstitchier Ah! If you're down w a little unpicking , you could take half an inch off the elastic to reduce the waist size. Just pop open the waistband on one side, undo just the stitches holding the elastic, and pull it out 1/2" before sewing back up. Easy! 14h
  •   whipstitchier And hooray!!! Oh, I'm SO glad you like it and that the videos do what they're supposed to do!! :) 14h
  •   nancy_oakeson Cute fabric! 13h
  •   sewbeait Cute.. 11h
  •   shellesas Will you wear it? 8h
  •   freshlypieced @shellesas no, it's pretty big on me, I don't think I'll wear it, unfortunately! That's why I didn't bother hemming it. I think the next one will be wearable! 6h
  •   ladyquiltsalot Try making a mock-up first with cheap fabric/muslin if you are struggling with size 5h

freshlypieced Done! Tiny Pocket Tank @grainlinestudio. Look @jemellia! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ #sewoff 1w
  •   freshlypieced @jemellia @whipstitchier Full bust adjustment? ME?? Ha ha ha! Hilarious! 1w
  •   miz_bugg One of my favorite patterns! My next one will also need a FBA. Mwoa mwoaaa.... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ 1w
  •   jemellia GIVE ME YOUR BUST SIZE 1w
  •   freshlypieced @jemellia lol- you're supposed to measure the fullest part of the bust, not the band size, right? In that case it's 36, but prob closer to 37 with my usual padded bra on. my practice tank was a 6 and that one seemed too big in the bust, so on this one I made the 4. And I shortened the straps a little bc straps are always too long on me. (I guess I have short shoulders?) so I was thinking i might make the 4 again but not shorten the straps? But I really don't know what I'm doing, so please advise. Lol 1w
  •   freshlypieced @jemellia it seems like the bust sizes in the size chart for this pattern are tiny, right? I can't believe a 37 is a size 10?? 1w
  •   freshlypieced P.S. @jemellia I love discussing how big my boobs are on the Internet. 1w
  •   jemellia Yes, you measured correctly. @whipstitchier has a great video on measuring. it sounds like you just don't need to shorten the straps. 1w
  •   jemellia I didn't think you really would!! 1w

freshlypieced My least favorite part of pin basting is not putting the pins in, but taking them OUT. 3w
  •   katheleenbaker Just look at the job of removing them means that you have finished another quilt 3w
  •   kpud I prefer the 505 after trying it both ways. I still pin the edges though! 3w
  •   bryanhousequilts Yeah, it's a pain all around. 3w
  •   rubybluequilts Agree! 3w
  •   quatrocats Spray baste!!! Nuff said. 3w
  •   freshlypieced @flourishingpalms @kpud @quatrocats I've been a dedicated spray baster in the past, but lately I've had really bad luck with spray basting - 505 just hasn't held the last few times. I recently switched from Warm and White batting to Quilters Dream cotton, and I'm starting to wonder if Quilters Dream just doesn't take spray baste as well? I may have to switch back to Warm and White!! 3w
  •   flourishingpalms @freshlypieced So sorry this is happening with @quiltersdream I have had 505 success with QD poly and QD wool. Can't say I've tried cotton. Maybe it's the scrim that isn't holding. Just don't go back to Warm. It's too dense and stiff. 3w
  •   mhunters_ Wonderful wisdom ... thanks ladies! 3w
