  •   jasonvernonalabama Great pic.. 1y
  •   ark_outdoorsman @fredth45 you from Ar? 11mon
  •   fredth45 @ark_outdoorsman yep....from Camden, what part are you from? 11mon
  •   ark_outdoorsman Originally Pocahontas, northeast AR, live in Bella Vista now in NW. Saw all the Stuttgart pics and know a ton of folks from that area and Carlisle, thought we might know some of the same crew 11mon
  •   fredth45 @ark_outdoorsman I mainly just hunt a lot around there with friends from my home town, I don't really know to many folks around stuttgart 11mon
  •   fredth45 @ark_outdoorsman I imagine the wal mart home office as a pretty big place....but...I know a guy named Ross Shively that works there, know em? 11mon
  •   ark_outdoorsman @fredth45 can't say I do, but if I run into him, I'll tell him you said hey! Of you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods for a hogs game or something, hit me up! 11mon
  •   fredth45 @ark_outdoorsman I live in Nashville TN now, but most definitely I'll hitcha up when I come that way 11mon

  •   alexbagley17 Thanks! Training my dog myself too! @fredth45 6mon
  •   fredth45 @alexbagley17 it's pretty fun to your dog finally get the hand of things 6mon
  •   fredth45 @alexbagley17 I started out self training her, then I got busy working with military stuff so I sent her off for two months 6mon
  •   alexbagley17 Oh that's cool, I've read 'water dog' and got some pretty good tips from the book! But yes I'm self training her tooo, she's 4 in a half months 6mon
  •   fredth45 @alexbagley17 how is she coming along? I started with water dog, it got me so far until I found the material to be a little outdated....then I went to "fowl dogs" 6mon
  •   alexbagley17 She's doing well at the house, but I tried a while back to train her in some marsh and all she wants to do is run around and play but I think I'm gonna try again she's been doing great at the house with a teal, but I need her to retrieve in the marsh where we will be hunting, but this week i think she will be ready for some training in the marsh! And I have not looked at 'fowl dogs' I'll probably take a look at it @fredth45 6mon
  •   fredth45 @alexbagley17 the hardest part for is being patient with my dog, at first I thought I had the worlds dumbest dog, slowly but surely with enough repetition and being persistent training her things just start to click with her.......stay on her about obedience 6mon
  •   alexbagley17 @alexbagley17 Thanks for the tip! I'll think she'll do great, I just got to keep up the training and obedience ! 6mon

  •   fredth45 @treyjohnson2007 if I were you I wouldn't hit her anymore just yet, she will get hand shy and stay scared of you, it's hard getting a dog to trust you again.....that's why I enforce the word "no" it does the same thing as hitting her but it's more of a positive punishment....when I first got her the training began....I got her use to hearing the majority of the commands she will hear in a playful way.....bottom line....dogs learn fast when everything seems like a game to them 1y
  •   treyjohnson2007 @fredth45 oh ok n yea I got a kennel she stays in but I guess since she was playin she didn't care lol but I'm hoping she turns out ok 1y
  •   clinthjames Dang boy you got get down I'm impressed 1y
  •   stevo007miami Fred I wouldn't use her name for coming to you leave that for retrieve.. Use here and heel for when u want her to heel or sit next to u 1y
  •   stevo007miami Also to the hand shy thing guys the dog needs to know what's up my dog is a pro but a pussy when he does something wrong in the house. He nose I'm going to kill him for it lol. But he also knows the difference from going to work and being in the house hold. When I go to work my dog is on point 1y
  •   stevo007miami And don't be cheap if u don't want to spank the dog get a sport dog caller it will save u and them a long time 1y
  •   stevo007miami Fred get your paint ball gun an use it as a trainer the your duck dummy in the air and shot the paintball gun. 1y

  •   kbswizzle She is sooo smart!!!! @fredth45 1y
  •   thacounselor Never give a command you can't enforce, and throwing less retrieves is better. Leave them always wanting more! 1y
  •   the_marcusb @fredth45 a mistake I made with my last dog was not introducing her to gun fire at an early age. Doesn't need to be much but will save you time in the long run. 1y
  •   jeff_mckelva I've only raised one she was a monster around ducks . The hunting came easy to her but I think my obedience and handling training made it alot easier ! Like yours is doing right now ! I may have put her in the water too early ? But she overcame it . I shot sparrows and stuff with a pelett gun from the back porch and treated it just like a hunt not sure if any of it was right but it sure worked for me ! Kept er in a huntin vest when she was too small to keep up while scouting cotton 1y
  •   austin_white_6 Lots of obedience, don't get frustrated because it takes time, never teach more than one thing at a time. Treat the dog as a student in school and each session is a subject, no teacher ever cross teaches subjects in a class. Always make sure they are having fun and never teach them while hunting. Hunting should be there reward from training. 1y
  •   fredth45 @austin_white_6 @jeff_mckelva @rmarcusb @countryesquire preciate it brothers! if y'all ever see me over doing anything don't hesitate to tell me 1y
  •   thacounselor Hey get her on some clipped wing pigeons if you can! Best advice I could give is join a local retriever club. That will give you access to people who've done it before. You will be able to teach her to honor other dogs and hopefully have access to flyers (live ducks we shoot). Helped me out a lot 1y
