frankippolito Played a bunch of Diablo 3 the last few nights. Here's a king Leoric makeup I did on Ashley Klich for the Blizzard launch party of the game a couple years back. I sculpted the prosthetic for @rbfx, and it's available for purchase through them! Ashley did a baddass job on the costume, it's pretty much all worbla! 2d

frankippolito Pew Pew Pew! Got a new baby today from Universal Laser! Gonna set it up this afternoon and start zappin' stuff. Reason #837368349 why I'm glad I'm moving to the bigger shop in a few weeks. This and the Bridgeport are the nails in the coffin! 3d
  •   jimmy2eggs Badass 2d
  •   bcrozzy Sweeeeeet 2d
  •   stinduthered I run 2 of those in my shop. They are great. 2d
  •   takitus_ Badass. Nice zer0 hoodie btw 2d
  •   evilted_channel Oh Yes! 2d
  •   vexfx Laser cutters are the best. Can't wait to get my glowforge. I use the Epilog at my hacker space more than my own CNC. What is the bed size on that one? It's beautiful. 2d
  •   frankippolito @vexfx I'm skeptical of the safety of the glowforge. This bed is 32x18 2d
  •   vexfx @frankippolito that's a good size bed. Which safety aspect are you skeptical of, the plastic body? I have some concerns as well, but the dice have been rolled! I'll let you know if my shop burns down, or teach my future service monkey to type so he can inform you that my corneas have melted. 2d

frankippolito All smiles circa 2005. First day that Davey Jones heart worked on set, in Bekett's office of the East India Trading Company. You can see the director Gore Verbinski in the background. It was the scene when Norrington brings him the heart and puts it on his desk. One of the last scenes of part 2, I think. Don't forget that movies are filmed out of order. And pirates 2 and 3 were all scrambled up! 5d

frankippolito It was about 10 years ago that I made this mold while working on the second "Pirates of the Caribbean". it's a big block of 1630 (filled urethane resin), and it was for Davey Jones heart. I still have one of the hearts from the movie, as a matter of fact, it's the hero mechanical heart skin, THE one you see Jonny Depp first pull out of the chest. I know this because I also ran the remote control that made the heart pump, and I was standing behind him on that scene. Was definitely a cool day. 5d

frankippolito This week has been nutty. I'm gonna go throw myself down a mountain, strapped to a fiberglass reinforced piece of wood. 7d

frankippolito On our latest episode of the Creature Geek podcast, we talk with Joel Harlow (@chickenfist ), and he talks about the last time he applied foam latex might have been back on Pirates of the Caribbean 2&3. Well, here is a makeup that he designed and sculpted, then I molded, and amazingly got the opportunity to apply every day on set! Cheers for setting me up with such an awesome design Joel! Check out the podcast and hear what else he has to say! Yes, this is foam latex, and a full face appliance with fake teeth. 2w

frankippolito What do I think the coolest part of the Martian space suit is? The cool placement of the @nasa meatball in various spots! Check out the video circulating around with @therealadamsavage and @normchan and I taking out first up-close looks at the suit! I can't wait to build our replicas!! @fbfx_ltd did an awesome job on this!! 2w

frankippolito Cuz I've been slammed in the shop with stuff I can't post.... Here's some epoxy molds that myself, @nikogonzalezfx and @soloroboto have been workin on this past week. We havta trim, open and clean them now. 3w
  •   smoothon What's the best way to trim these epoxy molds? 3w
  •   samchronic @frankippolito Such rad work as always sir . @smoothon - Not exactly sure what Frank uses so he may have a different / better suggestion in regards to the blade type but I always have a clean cut using a reciprocating saw with a 8/12 TPI blade. 3w
  •   jimbengochea You are amazing! 3w
  •   georgetroester @smoothon Maybe Frank has a better way but I've been trimming epoxy molds with an oscillating saw. It cuts like butter, won't cut soft materials like skin or silicone, and creates way less dust than a dremel or pneumatic saw. 3w
  •   jamesdunnfx @georgetroester @smoothon we also used an oscillating saw at Savinis to trim molds. 3w
  •   soloroboto @smoothon we've been using a pneumatic reciprocating saw in Frank's shop, and it works pretty awesome as long as you've got a sharp blade installed. 3w
  •   carlocassani @javieraguamala pilla brethen! 2w
  •   cryptcreations Can you please made a tutorial video on how to do this 5d

frankippolito Throwing up some more pictures from working on Star Wars at Tippett Studio in a folder on my Facebook. (Facebook.com/Ippolito.frank)
Here, I'm molding "worm". Ended up being a 3 part epoxy matrix mold for him. It's all about getting good seams and hiding them in the right place. Most of these puppets had almost no flashing to clean off. All mold materials from @smoothon

frankippolito This was the finished makeup on David Margulies. It was for a short film that Danny Devito directed called "Skin Deep". I sculpted and molded it, @rbfx ran the foam for me, and @jeusty and @lacihill helped on the application. 3w

frankippolito I found out yesterday that actor David Margulies passed away. I had the pleasure of doing his makeup on 2 Danny Devito projects. He was super easy to work with and had some awesome stories about working on Ghostbusters (he played the mayor) 3w

frankippolito Flashback Friday to 2014 when my crew and I built the Gore Magala from the Monster Hunter video games! It's been on display at Six Flags Magic Mountain the past 6 months, now it's going back in a crate. But I know where it's going later this year, and it will be cool. So stay tuned and I'll let ya know, when it's the right time! 4w

frankippolito Painting "crouch" from the holochess set in the new Star Wars over at Tippett studio! Used silpoxy and novocs from @smoothon with oil paint as pigment. Complete with @therpf hat and @iwatamedea airbrush. 4w
  •   eric38carlson Keep those cups, they'd make a great wall piece for your office. 4w
  •   frankippolito @eric38carlson Hahahahah! You know they are already hangin up! 4w
  •   jimmy2eggs Frank just interested to know why silpoxy and not psycho paint. Is it because of the oil paints! 4w
  •   frankippolito @jimmy2eggs psycho paint doesn't love oil paints (which I like better than most silicone pigments). And silpoxy has the strongest bond and fastest set time that I have found. 4w
  •   terryknouff He looks hungry ! 4w
  •   jimmy2eggs That's what I thought. We use both products silpoxy we use a lot for repairs on hands and cuts in silicone, like u said it has the strongest bond 4w
  •   minifigured Hey @frankippolito have you guys thought about proposing to restore the last surviving shark from JAWS aka Junkyard Bruce? That's a restoration I'd kill to see! 4w
  •   melissapastrana Still will take that offer of bringing my little sister to your studio. It will inspire her @frankippolito 4w
