fonzyd Eating is a very complex thing, but because we eat every day, we don't want to see it that way. Imagine for a moment that food wasn't a physiological need; what would your relationship be with food then? We really need to think about eating, because eating and breathing are the only two things we do from the moment we are born to the moment we die. - Sorry I haven't posted any pictures of food recently. I'm currently in a temporary loving situation until I find a new place to move into back in downtown Portland. Until I find that more permanent living situation, I'm afraid I won't be able to cook anything. I'll try to edit some photos from past dinners that I hosted. But the amount of posts that I make will be fewer than usual. I already miss cooking outside of my work. Please bear with me. 2y

  •   fonzyd @thegirlwhobites I saw A&B last night and they put on a spectacular show! Kaskade was also beyond amazing. Tonight I'll be watching Avicii, Tiesto, Martin Solveig, Bassnectar, and Feed Me among others. Then tomorrow night it'll be Porter Robinson, Pretty Lights, Chuckie, Cazzette, and Major Lazer as well as whoever else is in between. I'm sad that I have to miss Dada Life tomorrow night because me and my friend have to fly back to Portland Monday morning for finals week. At least I've seen them before though. 2y

Luckily they were able to squeeze Avicii in this morning before Armin Van Buuren by cutting half an hour off David Guetta's set. We just left after Porter Robinson's set and now we're headed home to rest up. 2y

fonzyd I finally got around to making @thefauxmartha's bird's nest macaroons. I meant to send them as an Easter care package to my sister but got caught up with work. Since it took me so long to bake these, my sister is receiving tiny dinosaur egg nests. Rawr! 2y

fonzyd One of the two dishes I made for my first course of the final fancy at Sky Castle. I first saw these done in an issue of Saveur magazine and was inspired to make them because the photo was to stunning. These are as beautiful as they are tasty, while they are a little bit of time to put together, it's completely worth it. This gorgeous photo was taken by one of my roommates, @nathanielyoung. He's an amazing photographer and can do wonders with a camera (unlike me). Check out his instagram, website, or Facebook page. You won't regret it. 2y

fonzyd Tomato and watermelon salad: If the idea of tomatoes and watermelon together sounds odd to you, this dish will be a revelation. There is a saying that what grows together goes together, and in this case it is true. Seasonality, however, is the key. This salad should only be made in the summer, when tomatoes, watermelon, and cucumbers are at their peak of flavor. I included rich, creamy Hass avocadoes to lend a nice contrast of flavor and texture. Any combination of fresh herbs can be chopped and added to the salad along with a simple balsamic vinaigrette (I used basil, tarragon, chives, and cilantro). It can be easily tossed together before serving, but for my dinner the other night I was inspired to create a painstaking mosaic of the ingredients. If you're so inclined, feel free, but don't say I didn't warn you —it takes a lot of time. 2y

fonzyd Last night's setting for Sky Castle's last Fancy Dinner. The first course includes negronis, a tomato and watermelon salad, along with beet and goat cheese napoleons. The main course that followed was mac n' cheese with conchigliette pasta, three cheeses (Gruyère, sharp white cheddar, and Pecorino Romano), lobster, and bacon. Finally, I made blackberry and pear tarts served with homemade Galliano milkshakes for dessert followed by more cocktails to drink as we wound down for the evening. 2y
