flyhoof Love this idea for displaying some fancy spoons in a frame on the wall... I am a proper spoon geek though! :D 5d
  •   nickoswright Where would one acquire such wonderful spoons? 4d
  •   flyhoof @nickoswright Ha! Wonderful spoons crop up in all sorts of places if you're the kind of person who looks out for them! These fancy fellas were at an antiques place near Grange :) 3d

flyhoof Making a start on my next pair of socks with a lovely skein of Mind the Gap by Trailing Clouds. Mmm... self-striping :) 1w

flyhoof Finally completed my first pair of socks! (The pink pair I thought would be my first had to be unravelled... It was very upsetting). These were knitted toe-up, two-at-a-time on circular needles with @lynaiyarns Manic Speckled yarn. I used the Fish Lips Kiss heel and a slip stitch pattern. Can't wait to cast on my next socks! :D 1w
  •   flyhoof Thanks @carbonsoup! Seeing the lovely socks you knit spurred me on! 1w
  •   flyhoof @lovestrawberrypatch thank you! It was lovely yarn to knit with, I'm definitely tempted to get more... 1w
  •   flyhoof @indiannadreams it seemed ok doing them toe-up. I used Judy's Magic Cast-on (lots of info if you Google it) and was fine after a couple of practice goes to get it tight enough. The best thing was the Fish Lips Kiss heel though - the instructions are so thorough and there are great videos that go with it. You can use that heel for top-down socks too, so you might find it useful. Good luck getting yours finished - you can do it!! 1w
  •   moonroveryarn They're beautiful!!! Good job! 1w
  •   flyhoof @moonroveryarn thank you! Can't wait to get round to making some with your lovely yarn :) 1w
  •   indiannadreams Thanks for the info 1w
  •   xaynub @flyhoof these are sooooo cool!!!! 1w
  •   flyhoof Eeeeee! Thank you @xaynub! :D 1w

flyhoof My finished linen and Liberty rabbit, from a pattern in issue twelve of @lovequiltingmag :) 1w
  •   poppyprint Seriously adorable!! 1w
  •   bighomebird 1w
  •   flossieteacakes That's ridiculously lovely. I'm totally tempted by making one of these now. Is it for you or someone else? 1w
  •   flyhoof Thanks @flossieteacakes! :D It's going to live with me for the moment unless I think of someone who'd like it. I made it to enter into our village show but it didn't win a prize (beaten by egg-shaped goats milk soap of all things!!). I bet you'd make a lovely rabbit, you have such good taste in fabric. It was fun to make, although some of the instructions were confusing. I'll do a blog post at some point, noting the things I had to alter :) 1w
  •   janesquilts Adorable 1w
  •   onceuponadonkey Love love love! Did you see this @bluebeehive ??? 1w
  •   bluebeehive Ohh- gorgeous! When we finally get issue 12 here we may need to make these for the girls! 1w

flyhoof Came across this place in a back street in Kendal and the owner poked her head out of the window after I took a photo to tell me a bit about its history, which was nice of her :) It's been a dye-works, a butchers, a theatre and a fake blood factory (amongst many other things) over the years. Now it's the home and workplace of a graphic designer and is listed on Airbnb... 3mon
  •   poppyprint Fake blood factory!! 3mon
  •   flyhoof @poppyprint ha! I know! I preferred that to the butchers though. The fake blood was for the film and theatre industry :) 3mon
  •   mybricole It's beautiful 3mon
  •   flyhoof @mybricole it's an amazing looking place. I've just been checking it out on the Airbnb website and the interior has been decorated really nicely too 3mon
  •   ariannahalshaw Where is it? 3mon
  •   flyhoof @ariannahalshaw it's in Kendal, Cumbria on a street called Low Fellside. It's such a huge building but completely tucked away at the end of a narrow road 3mon

  •   holsworth That sounds amazing! 3mon
  •   carbonsoup Oh that sounds wonderful!!!!! 3mon
  •   flyhoof @holsworth @carbonsoup it was great! I'm going to use my new knowledge to set up some mushroom growing on the organic farm where I volunteer. Exciting stuff! :D 3mon

flyhoof What I'm doing now (#widn tagged by lovely ladies @anyonecanquilt and @moonroveryarn)... Recovering from a session of indoor tennis! All the outdoor courts were full, so we got to use a fancy indoor court for the same price. I felt like a proper tennis player! Aching now though... :) 3mon
  •   moonroveryarn That looks like so much fun! 3mon
  •   flyhoof @moonroveryarn it was! I'm sure I played better than usual because of the professional-looking surroundings too! 3mon
  •   anyonecanquilt That does look fancy! To feel like a true and proper tennis player, you must scream every time you hit the ball. 3mon
  •   flyhoof @anyonecanquilt ha! You're right! So many different screams and grunts to look forward to when Wimbledon starts. I don't scream, just lots of groans of frustration as I miss-hit the ball (which happens a lot!) 3mon
  •   moonroveryarn Totally!! 3mon

flyhoof My @lynaiyarns Manic Speckled socks perching on top of my new #socksack bag, for the lovely @anyonecanquilt, who wanted to know how my socks were knitting up 4mon
  •   anyonecanquilt I love them, they're perfect!! So is your sock sack.️ Now you have me wanting to make a new one of those too! 4mon
  •   fhiggs I have a deep love for speckled socks/yarn! 4mon
  •   flyhoof @anyonecanquilt thanks! I want to make another sock sack too but I've been struck down with fabric choice indecision! 4mon
  •   flyhoof @fhiggs me too! I wished that I hadn't knitted these with the slip stitch stripes because I prefer the way the speckled yarn is shown off more on the sole (where it's just plain knitting). I'll know for next time though and it's a good excuse to buy more speckled yarn! 4mon
  •   moonroveryarn So pretty!! 3mon

flyhoof Trying to initiate a game on the stairs with my friend's cat Leira (who was unimpressed)... 4mon
  •   flossieteacakes Leira's collar looks a very Libertyesque shade if purple! 4mon
  •   flossieteacakes Of, not if 4mon
  •   flyhoof @flossieteacakes you're right! I'm sure she'd love a purple Liberty paper shopping bag to play in too! :) 4mon
  •   flossieteacakes @flyhoof She probably would, wouldn't she! I do love a kitten in a bag. 4mon
  •   flyhoof @flossieteacakes me too! Cats and paper bags are a very happy pairing. If I ever get a cat-sized Liberty bag I'll definitely have to save it for her! 4mon

flyhoof Came across a ringed plover nest on the beach today! Took a very quick photo. Hope it doesn't get trampled, it was very near the road 4mon
  •   brianisthemessiah Does the plover put all the broken shells down to lay the eggs on or are they already there? 4mon
  •   flyhoof @brianisthemessiah just checked in one of my boyfriend's bird books and it seems the broken shells were collected by the birds for the nest :) 4mon
  •   paperkangaroo I'm going to have to google it to see what a plover is. But those eggs are beautiful!! 4mon
  •   flyhoof @paperkangaroo do! It's a ringed plover (there are a few different kinds of plover) and it's a very sweet bird - one of my favourites! :) 4mon
  •   ecr00neg I had no idea their eggs were shaped like that. Neat. 4mon
  •   flyhoof @ecr00neg they're surprisingly pointy! :D 4mon
