ffriday After getting my sneakers wet, I looked over at this stretch and thought, why not go for a jog along the sand, and so I did. And now I can tell you, remember it's bloody hard work! I had not had coffee, not thinking clearly 8h
  •   reenies_joy Good training for anglesea tho 7h
  •   ffriday @reenies_joy it is good training, we should probably repeat. It's hard! 5h
  •   k.port.7 .... never attempt ANYTHING before coffee! Great scope in this shot though 3h

ffriday Lucky to have a day off today so I went down to the bay and got a bit sandy and wet taking this shot (a sneaky wave). And I felt spoilt it was me and a few dog-walkers. 8h

ffriday This face, every morning and every night. In case you can't tell this is Willow's morning face. I think she wanted me to get out of bed and feed her. What I wish I'd done is brushed that stray bit of fur off her face, but life doesn't stand still for perfection (and nor do cats!). There's a lesson here folks... 3d

ffriday I had a fun weekend, and forgot how many shots I took while wandering. This place gets me every time. Black, gold and red. Wow! 4d
  •   k.port.7 That's cool! Nice colour scheme 4d
  •   ffriday @k.port.7 I know, it's really the door that I love the most. Although I also like that they have their own 'street-lamp' 😀 4d

ffriday Chandelier. A #latergram from last night. Farewelling 501 receptions at the Women of the West Ladies Night. What a night.
Funds raised went to Women's Health West who provide women's health services and support to women who experience family violence, also to the West Welcome Wagon that provides practical support to refugees in the west community..
.
There were also a lot of 80s outfits, several dance competitions (I was in one!), and line dancing! Thanks @morethanjustnumbers and @reenies_joy for the fun.

ffriday It's funny, I've spent a fair amount of time grumbling about winter here in Melbourne. And we did have our coldest July in 20 years. But today I was happy to have the rain. Perhaps despite the months of cold and grey, rain has been rare. Or perhaps now I have hope for spring after a fine weekend. Either way, here is a picture of slips of cloud around Eureka Tower as winter has its final moments. 1w

ffriday One of (many) favourites from my Japan-08 trip. I know I wouldn't have chosen it in 2008 though. So glad I didn't cull my 1000 photos, I might have lost it. 1w
  •   paul3057 Yes isn't it funny how we change? 1w
  •   ffriday @paul3057 It makes looking though old photos even more interesting 1w
  •   paul3057 Yes, I've upgraded some of my old travel photos too.....and downgraded quite a few. 1w

ffriday I moved to Melbourne in late 2007. I left Perth and the job that had burnt me out, and in 2008 I was studying full time trying to figure out what next. This is from near the end of that period, when I squeezed in a trip to Japan thanks to new cheap fares. I loved it, such a fascinating country. I wish I'd taken better photos of course, but from the 1000 on my drive (!) there were a few keepers. I look forward to my next visit to get a different take, whenever that may be. For now this is inspiration for @reenies_joy's trip 1w
  •   toffyinc Awesome 1w
  •   ffriday @reenies_joy you're welcome :) I'm looking forward to what you see! Xx 1w
  •   ffriday @k.port.7 I try to always have some travel to look forward to ️ there is so much to see, and it will never be quite the same if you go again, so more to look forward to. 1w
  •   ffriday @toffyinc thanks Amal, I even snuck a shot of me in there looking particularly daggy 1w
  •   suemurray2095 There's their new tourism campaign done and dusted. You've sold me! 1w
  •   ffriday @suemurray2095 Sue you would love it! 1w
  •   sherri_6 Looks amazing over there, I need to go one day!! 1w
  •   ffriday @sherri_6 you must! And there is so much more to Japan than my fleeting tour. 1w

ffriday No filter required for these beauties, just some sunlight that brought spring a little closer. 2w

ffriday Blues and greens from yesterday's brief walk around Mentone. Emerging Australian artists were inspired by this view in the late 1800s and you can see why. With the sun at your back I felt pretty meditative myself, or maybe that was just relaxed to be warm. 2w
  •   adayinmylife Ohh I miss Mentone we used to live there ! It's beautiful 2w
  •   ginxstar The water is so clear! 2w
  •   ffriday @adayinmylife it was my first visit and it IS beautiful! 2w
  •   ffriday @ginyastar looked good enough to swim in, with a wetsuit (sunny but it is still winter!) 2w

ffriday FRANK exhibition August 21-28.
.
Last night I was lucky to be at the opening of the first group exhibition from the FRANK studio team. The studio has reclaimed an building that had been empty for 15-years and the area had a high crime rate. Now it is a light, bright, hub of creation. .
This group of local artists were invited To the space by the community. It was an experiment, the lease is temporary, and they don't know how long they'll be together. But in a short time they have created a huge volume of work as individual artists, but als they have been impacting on their community. They've had a group of young offenders in to learn about art and then to create their own with big bold murals on the front of the building.
These works are by my friend @sallyhanreck an incredible artist who is passionately working with the rest of the studio to get them a home for a year. Then they can really make a change. .
All of the above was the prelude to this...I encourage you to visit the exhibition and support this budding studio.

ffriday Tuesday-2:50pm. Head high, shoulders back and...smile!
I was running late for an off-site meeting but, a photo like this can take just a moment. I've caught this two as they were getting ready for the next barrage of shots. It's a special day, but it can be a bit of work too.

ffriday Looking back on Silvan Reservoir, it was an excellent day up in the Dandenongs. Post run there was pie, coffee and wandering the local shops. Came home with a big bar of Rocky Road. #winning 3w

ffriday Single file and watch your step for fallen branches and mud on the trails near Silvan Reservoir. I'll be back to walk these trails another time as they are beautiful. 3w

ffriday Flashback footy. Not really, it was a normal local footy match. But this guy was rocking a headband like it was the 80s. I respect his style. 3w

ffriday Spring is around the corner and I'm pretty excited about that. I love how Melbourne has such clear transitions between the seasons. 3w
  •   fletchadam Melbourne's transition from Winter to Spring is more peculiar than most. Many suggest we have a few weeks in October of true Spring. Either side is Sprinter and Sprummer. :) 3w
  •   jhinwood I was noticing the magnolias on my way to work today. Lovely 3w
  •   ffriday @fletchadam haha I like the suggestions! Melbourne is a bit special that way, but I didn't have to wear a coat on the way home so I won't say no to this little teaser of sprinter 3w
  •   fletchadam 3w
  •   ffriday @jhinwood they are just starting to sneak out. Somehow spring feels a bit more tangible with them out (asking for trouble in Melbourne of course!). 3w
  •   soconnie1 I'm excited too 3w
  •   montymelb So beautiful! Nearly there! 3w
