eyecool That crazy chain-linked swing ride you see at the fair ::::::@ 1mon
  •   lleub As a child, my chain restraint broke on this ride. I held on for my dear life, on a swing 15-20+feet in the air, doing circles, screaming for my life, crying. Nobody even noticed until the end of the ride. I've never ridden the swings since, well, I really don't do fairs at all. 1mon
  •   ivyt13 Awesome!! 1mon
  •   yaya28b @lleub oh wow!!! I'm sorry you had an experience like that. It is awful!.. I was in Disneyland a Christmas Day in 2000 (I think) and one of the pirate ships strings that used to hold the poles got unattached and started going all over the place killing a person instantly.. Fairs or the "happiest place in the world" can be Fatal places lol 1mon

eyecool "Haven't seen you in quite a while,
I was down the hold just passing time.
Last time we met was a low-lit room.
We were as close together as a bride and groom.
We ate the food, we drank the wine.
Everybody having a good time.
Except you...
You were talking about the end of the world..."

eyecool Sunday \\// sund(e)Y(e)s

It's hard to believe this picture is just a weed. A wildflower seed furiously blown then naturally sown in the brown, dusty soil of the Texas high plains.

It looks like eyes. Crazy eyes and a nose. Or crazy eyes and puckered lips reaching to kiss.
Step by step. My grin glows and grows the closer I get. It is tall. 4 feet taller than the ground that collars it's long neck. She is teasing me for a portrait.

As certain as the positively charged electrical current that flows through a filament, heating it into glowing light, my mind flows through ten fingers to adjust the camera and settings that turn this very moment into recorded sight.

I dedicate this sight to my bright and colorful Aunt Nan. You're a great artist. You've influenced me more than you'll ever know.

  •   lukermclaughlin What lenses do you use for you shallow DOF shots? Really crisp definition, and the colors pop. Shooting RAW JPEG? 6mon
  •   eyecool Never jpegs. I always shoot digital negatives. Most macro work is with a 100 mm macro and 50 mm 1.2 on my canon 1D. Also Sony 30 mm macro, 50 mm prime with extension tubes, variable zoom lenses with reverse ring mount. The bodies on those are NEX 5/6/7. I have the entire range of Sony bodies and their full line of lenses. Sounds crazy but the best analogy is golf: I carry as many lenses in my bag as Tiger Woods carries clubs in his. Trying to do everything with one lens is like playing golf with only a sand wedge - for everything. l ' ve really started getting in to macro photography because it's difficult. There isn't a lot of really good, real animal macro. The really great looking stuff is staged - dead bugs, tripods, studio lighting. One guy even got busted for pinning frog feet to wood, to hold them still enough to shoot - which is the exact opposite of what I believe in. @lukermclaughlin 6mon
  •   lukermclaughlin As an independent filmmaker, as well as golfer, I admire the analogy. Though lenses are much, much more expensive. I agree 1000% that there should be more true to life macro photography. I read an article while I was in undergrad about insect photography and how "staged" it is on a regular basis. Always makes me think of "The Cameraman's Revenge." Dead insect photography has improved since then, but it is crazy to think how much technology has improved yet we still rely on motionless targets. I admire your work, especially the macro and extended exposure shots. Keep up the exceptional work and as always, happy shooting. 6mon
