  •   g3_blades @jakels_47 it's an awesome blade. The only the the pocket clip sucks. I had to bend it so it would be tighter. But since it's so short there's not, much snap to it. Just have to bend it and find a happy medium 4d

everyday_tactical Today’s EDC Blade: The ZT 0801BW from @ZTKnives. I’ll admit, when these hit websites I barely acknowledged them. When I saw it in the store, I scanned right past it. But Kristen at @OmahaKnife pulled it out of the case and said “Have you played with one of these yet?” I of course answered “no” and then politely took it. I wasn’t expecting what happened next…It felt great! For some reason in the case it was unimpressive but in my hand it just looked and felt right. So I promptly bought it with another I had in mind for review, stuck the 0801 in my pocket, and immediately started carrying it. It rides low thanks to a right/left tip up deep carry clip and weighs a mere 5.85oz, so not a lot for its overbuilt size. What struck me when I went to use it the first time was just how comfortable it is in hand. The handle is made of 2 thick titanium slabs with just enough traction to feel secure, thanks to the grooves and acid stonewashing, while also being snag free and pocket friendly. The Lockup of the framelock is stellar, solid as a Mack truck with a steel insert on the lock bar. Deploying it is fast and oh so smooth thanks to the KVT bearing system in the pivot and a little pad of jimping on the flipper for solid index finger grip. The blade is a deeply acid stonewashed drop point measuring right at 3.5” long. It is made of premium Elmax stainless steel and came shaving sharp in the box. Over the last few weeks she’s cut everything from paper & wood to fruit & lamb steak and hasn’t needed a touch up. The finish is superb; Very hard use friendly, barely showing any blemishes that have developed so far. It’s rare, but I really don’t have anything negative to say, it’s just so unassuming. The ZT 0801BW is simply a rock solid, hard use EDC that won’t attract any unwanted attention. And while they are a little costly at around $200, It’s safe to say that this is one blade you can carry for a lifetime. So if you’re in the market at the moment, don’t just scan past the ZT 0801BW, It’s worth pulling out of the case. 2w

everyday_tactical Today’s EDC Blade: The new 757 Vicar from Benchmade. This monster of a liner lock has all the strength and bite of a lion with all the speed and precision of a hawk. While not at all small at 8.86” overall, She’s not too much for EDC by any means, weighing in at a mere 6.6oz for her size. The business end is a 3.86” Clip point blade made of premium S30V steel that has been stonewashed to perfection. It is flat ground on both the primary bevel and the swedge on the spine and features a Mid Fuller in the flats for weight reduction. With loads of belly for precision cutting, It came shaving sharp from the box and while I didn’t hard use or abuse it, it performed flawlessly in every cutting chore I threw at it without even touch ups required. The handle is Layered green and black G10 scales over thick Titanium liners with a geared G-10 back spacer that looks vicious. The lockup of the liner lock is not only rock solid but very smooth as well, with no stickiness whatsoever. The 757 is very comfortable in hand and the grippy G-10 along with the jimping on the Thumb ramp and belly of the handle make for excellent traction with or without gloves on. Deployment is buttery smooth thanks to Phosphor bronze bushings and a tapered Ambidextrous Thumb Stud. If The Vicar has one shortcoming, it’s the clip. While it is Titanium to match the liners, and looks great, it is right hand/tip up only. So lefty’s (or folks like me who carry both sides) need not apply. That aside, The Vicar is everything you’d expect from a $250 Benchmade knife and more. So whether carried for defensive/tactical use, or as a folding hunter, or just as an EDC for those who like overbuilt blades; the Vicar preaches to us all Loud and Clear. 4w
