eriyasu We Are Explorers - After a three week expedition of Patagonia, @sabanabi graciously accompanied me to my #earthhour trip to Wards Island. To me, seeing the beautiful skyline reflecting over a frozen water body was magnificent. I could only imagine how much more the brushstrokes of billions of years of erosion and glacier movement must have looked like. He regularly posted on instagram when he was there and after each post, I was thoroughly jealous. He came back and showed me the pictures. My envy and jealousy grew after each successive picture - and so did my respect for @jenluvzyou 's photography skills - @sabanabi 's wife who took most of the pictures. What's worse is that the glacier's are rapidly melting and the window to view them is only open for a short while - after that, we will all lose such natural beauty. I had a nice conversation with him while we were waiting for the camera to take the long exposure shots and one of the things he told is me that humans are natural explorers. I fully agree and it got me thinking about how I wanted to spend the rest of my short days/weeks/months/years/decades on this planet. I was up all night thinking about that statement. It's funny how sometimes a short phrase, which would be otherwise trivial, sticks with you and you ruminate on it given the right contextual factors. Thanks @sabanabi . #weareallexplorers . This was taken on an iPhone 6+ whilst walking back to the parking lot. 1mon

eriyasu After earth hour. This pic was after earth hour had passed and the lights turned back on. Unfortunately, one report stated that only about 30% of those who were asked actually participated by turning off their lights. Very subtle differences this year. But the experience and nighttime photography was fun regardless. This picture has the exact same settings as the previous one (only way to make a fair comparison). I created a GIF of the two pictures - Google "toronto earth hour 2015 gif" - should find my gif on the first page. Thanks all for your kind comments and likes. 1mon

eriyasu Just spent #earthhour in #toronto with @sabanabi on Toronto Island in -10 degree weather to take this shot. All of the major tower lights were off - including the CN tower and Rogers Centre. Glad our city took part in this great event! Wasn't cold at all - mostly because I was doing the pee dance while my remote timer took the shots . This was a 90s exposure on f/9 at ISO 100 with a 24-70 lens. Hope all is well 1mon
