erinetoews That moment when your malnourished patient starts smiling at you and you know he's ready to be discharged // Last week had 6 babes admitted with malnutrition! It's only the beginning of harvesting season & there is nothing to harvest. Families have 1 whole year until the next corn harvest-- so we are likely to have a swarm of malnourished kids at #karandamissionhospital for the next 12 months. // To get involved go to www.team.org/givenow & type in "Zimbabwe Food Aid" -- you can help children like this one before malnutrition occurs! #teammissions #gobe 4d

erinetoews Wow. 25 weeks preggers. I couldn't be happier to be carrying this little boy and feeling him kick and squirm and experiencing all the good & bad of pregnancy (currently: reflux & swollen toes). This week everyone was saying that I finally look pregnant so I am embracing my baby bump today (My nursing uniform tends to cover it up...) // Can't wait to meet you, son! 2w

erinetoews 9:55am| it's "tea time" for me so I walk home (or go to the Jerebs quite often) for a 30-minute break // today I find our house helper Milka washing laundry in the kitchen // Kameron is out helping at a Bible camp this morning so I will probably finish a smoothie and prepare for tonight's Bible study with the nursing students before heading back to work 2w
  •   feliciafollum Where are you working? Is it a typical day job and then ministry at night? Or do you teach English for work? In Brazil I taught English for work...I love the experience of working and living in a place. It's so different than just travel (which I like too lol) 2w
  •   erinetoews @feliciafollum We live in Zimbabwe, volunteering at a mission hospital. So the whole day is ministry. Nurse during working hours and bible study, prayer nights, awana, etc during the week. 2w
  •   feliciafollum @erinetoews that's awesome! 2w

erinetoews 9:20am| doctor's rounds are finished so we are copying orders from the charts into many different book, making to-do lists, and calling other departments to help complete our orders // we still do paper charting at Karanda, but have a computer system to track patients' admissions & discharges ✍🏼 2w

erinetoews 7:50am| after morning devos with the nursing staff, it's off to pediatric ward for morning report and begin my day // meet Lydia a nursing student from England whom I am supervising at Karanda for the month of April // this morning we have a lot of staff so we can play with the patients and hand out stickers while we wait for doctor's rounds at 8am

erinetoews Today I'm going to attempt to share a day in my life at Karanda. As I go about my day I'll take pictures and share them whenever wifi is available (#tia). Thanks for following along!

5:15am| after struggling with my snooze for a bit, I drag myself out of bed and focus on the morning routine I'm trying to adopt to decrease my stress [stretching, drinking a bottle of water, and spending time with my Jesus] // I'm currently reading Leviticus because #adulting // a few minutes after this snap I let in the neighbor's cat Kashumba as she began to meow the moment my feet touched the floor this AM // soon I will begin the rest of the routine : breakfast, brush teeth, & if the water pressure hold strong - a shower.
